  • These stories aren't phoney. Only cynics who have never interacted with anyone in their job would say that.

  • yep... these strangers she has just met randomly opening up and telling her their private lives and personal problems is definately phoney. Sad for the individuals, sure.... but you don't just tell someone you just met all your really private heartbreaking stories.

As a Customer Service manager, I'll tell you this. It's not uncommon for people to open up like that. I'm responsible for training new hires, paperwork and all that jazz. And when you're training someone, they get this level of comfort with you in a short time and they do talk to you. It all just depends on the emotional recipricocity between you. You become the person they trust in very quickly. So no, these open ups are NOT phoney.

  • if resturaunts actually paid waitresses to work, they wouldnt expect the customers to pay their salaries.. just think, a tip would actually be a tip again.. and shame on you waitresses for working for such assholes

  • "pressure of having guests in front of you...". Yeah, um... CEO-person, we call that a normal job! Most of us don't simply interact only with other execs or non-customers, we have to provide great customer service. Maybe more execs should realize this and plan to constantly get out in the trenches before instituting policies from their ivory towers of business. Policy has to make sense in the real world, not just in theory.
