@Titchtrooper i'd say at least 1500-2000 in mint condition....the Little Esther Memory Lane lp from around the same time goes for about $3,000......i used to have a book called The Money Records amd they were both listed......
i wonder if the platters got duly compensated for their great work. I often hear of recording artists of that time getting financially screwed by record companies. Of course, the sound of the Platters is priceless.
@mohinderbauer They made out better than most. Manager Buck Ram actually
incorporated the group and name, had each member receive stock in the company, and paid thier Social Security for them. Of course, he bought back the stock later,
so he owned the name " The Platters "- this became a gold mine.
This is a truly amazing and emotional song to me, my Dad chose it to be played at his funeral when he was dying. He died at the age of 49 and this song reduces me to tears whenever I hear it. I wish I had known my Dad more, this song reminds me of the emotional person he really was. Love you Daddy xxxx
@kimpearce1 Your comment and this version of "Ebb Tide" by Tony Williams and the Platters has brought me to tears. I know this is not a 'blog', so may I simply say this is from the era when we still had music...still had singers and musicians instead of yellers and noisicians...wish we could all get together in a ballroom on a lake or an ocean...don't wish to disturb your precious memories of Daddy (my Dad and Mom are also gone...miss them ), but may I please have this dance?...Tunesmith
@tunesmith09 thankyou Tunesmith, I agree, music today cannot be called music in comparrison to real music such as these songs. I would gladly take your offer to dance.......Kim
sin duda la mejor versión de ebb tide en la voz del inimitable tony williams, cada vez que la escucho tengo que tener un pañuelo cerca, impresionante voz

Were these guys on a budget for recording time in the studio or summat? This is way too fast! No one will beat The Righteous Brothers' version! Bobby Hatfield does this song better than anyone else!
Listened to both of them just now...Williams' voice is richer by far...neither version is truly polished though...The instrumental version is the standard for me.....
Dammmnnn,,,this is so beautiful,.....
