wow such a long time ago i made some comment and everyone got all hot and bothered..... but look whos laughing with their comment in the top comments section... HAHAHAHA let me set the record straight.... leafs are making the playoffs this year (avs as well).... komisarek is one of my least favourite leafs and olver is irrelevant.... looking back it was a clean hit.... his head was forward (where his eyes are looking is his responsibility), and he did make contact with the puck

Technically, this isn't a blindside hit because Komisarek was in Oliver's line of sight just a split second before the hit. Sure, you could make the case that there was no reaction time for Oliver, but it sounds pointless to me. The head only whipped back because of the whiplash effect.

Verdict: Clean hit.

Definitely shoulder but I don't think it's a clean hit anymore. Very similar to previous hits that have resluted in suspensions. Right out of the rulebook............48.1 Illegal Check to the Head – A lateral or blind side hit to an opponent where the head is targeted and/or the principal point of contact is not permitted.

That looks like the definition of a blind side hit, but the shoulder hitting his head was purely coincidental, similar to a north south hit like Kronwall on Selanne. I always thought the rule for the blind side hit was weird - they wouldn't call it if a player makes contact only with the other player's body. All those illegal blind side hits aren't illegal because they're blind side, they're illegal because the guy decided to hit his head.

This is why you don't skate with your head down or making those suicide passes...sadly people will go on about anything.

Because it could be easily avoided by A: not making suicide passes to your teammate, and B: keep your head up and know if the puck is retrievable. It's not like someone comes in and hit a player in the numbers, or the Cooke on Savard hit.

Komi's shoulder is what hits him and he hits him from the front not a blindside hit. Plus when you see the replay from the other side you see he uses the arm to push off which is why his elbow is raised then but it doesn't even factor in once it is raised as they are separated. Clear enough for you?????
