The idea for this song is from a short story written by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. called Happiness by the Kilowatt. It's in his book Welcome to the Monkey House. Actually alexisonfire also based the song It Was The Fear of Myself That Made Me Odd from another story in the book. You should all read it. It's one of my favorite books.

I agree with ZoeMelancholy. His voice and his songwriting skills are second to none. He amazes me in that his vocals can be so powerful and dramatic [frequently proved in Alexisonfire] and yet so heartbreaking and soft and delicate [as in his City and Colour stuff] and he can carry both off so well. Here he transforms such a commanding song into a bittersweet and sad one. Beautiful.
