@JK11451 The temp gauge you mention, while it could raise an eyebrow, is not of a large concern, The auroras L47 will commonly venture into that range from being ran to hard or sitting in traffic for long periods of time. Faulty over-flow tank caps are also a big problem with these cars. That too can cause excess temps.
Also, I am quite sure that is in fact the traction off light.
@bcuzofview Each car is different. I'm just picky..lol, I don't like my temp to ever go above half mark. I know it's normal for some of them though. Thanks for the info.
I take it you are the owner of an aurora? If so there are a few cooling mods that will work wonders on these cars. If you are interested in hearing them than message me. Also these mods are free, and require very few tools. =D
@bcuzofview I wish, I am a huge fan of Oldsmobile. My current car is a Cutlass Supreme, but I am currently looking for an Aurora. My friend had one and I use to love driving it.
Aww yes..A 1995 Aurora with the check engine light on. This brings back so many memories. Dude you should really think about how you are gunning your car because you going to fuck up your transmission. Have your gas live bust on top of your engine yet?
@darwinstl33 A check engine light is NOT always signs of a problematic transmission. And judging by the way the car is shifting his transmission is just fine. He probably has an o2 sensor out or an engine misfire.
you can't just remove the govenor on the Aurora B/C its programmed into the cars brain. you must reflash the brain. there is no govenor to remove! also 170 is highly doubtful.
yea i have a 98 aurora with a shelby aurora engine in it and it only has about 180miles on it i was thinking about removing the governor do you know how to if not ill prolly just sell it
@bubbaman9100 ummmm no you dont. The only way the shelby engine/tranny combo will even work in an aurora is if you have the autobahn PCM...and if yours is limited...you dont.
Wow you Jokers are all the same, for one a GP GT is a fuking slow ass piece of shit, My F-250 could probably slaughter one, and second I fucking guarantee that my aurora would not only eat you, but also shit you out and wipe its ass with you. Talk that mad shit cuz it aint gonna do anything for ya
Guess i'm not the only person here with a F-250 and Aurora. LOL, and you boys better look out for that young gun 95oldsaurora, his mom likes to beat guys with Z28 Camaros.
Hey now, the Aurora was never meant to be a race car....Performance Luxury is what it's classed at. Secondly, that dumbass 95oldsaurora is like fifteen or something, and a dumbshit that makes the olds aurora look bad. He's just stupid and cant help making an ass out of himself. So take it easy there.
Yeah that hidden supercharger that momas boy has is putting out a shitload of boost(like 20-30psi???), you guys need to watch out for 95oldsaurora it will beat anything.
does anyone know where the oil commonly leaks from on the 99 auroras because first gen are notorious for leaks and i can't seem to figure out where the oil is leaking from?
would sound alot better without the music!! if u constantly hav an overheating problem u probably need a new radiator we put a new one in ours 3 years and it hasnt went over 210 degrees
this one definitely has the autobahn package, you can tell by the higher RPM's being ran at different speeds
i got a video of me doing 62-100 on my profile, and as you can see, 100mph is at about 4700rpms, and thats a tad bit uphill... on this video he's doing about 5k rpm's at 100
The obvious way to find out if your Aurora has the Autobahn option is to take the car out for a drive and see if you can go faster than 110 mph - this may not be practical though, and an easier way is to check the tire information label inside the driver's door and see if it lists V rated tires, don't bother to check the tires themselves as they may not be the originals.
Another way is to read the RPO list which you'll find inside the trunk - (the exact location of the list depends on the year of the car, up to 1996 it was inside the trunk liner near the antenna, and on the 1997 and up it was on the inside of the spare tire cover.) The autobahn car will have a code of QQX for the V rated tires, and a code of FV4 for the final drive ratio of 3.71.
you seem to know alot about auroras, so i just have a question. If i take the speed governer off a normal, non-autobahn aurora, will it be able to do 150 mph as well?
well it really would be hard to get it up that fast. a autobahn can top out at 140 and if it didnt have the 3.71 ratio it would be a lot harder. The car is really quite heavy and only has 244 ci/250 hp not enough power to go 150+ but however if you have a L37 swap into your aurora it might be possible 300hp thats what im doing this april.
some aurora's came from the factory with the autobahn package, meaning no governor and different gear ratio. The only way to tell if you have that particular model is to check the serial number on the driver door and see if the tires are V rated from the factory, V meaning higher speeds. Top speed is around 150 as opposed to the 110.
the olds auroras really run that hot on average possibly because the lack of a grill and the best bet with that govern is to simply get the autobaun version with the 3.71 final ratio and no fuel cut off all the way up to 140mph. still much better than my old 93 maxima se ve30de.
Ya my 95 aurora gets heated up fast so can't go on the interstate

Yes, listen to the comments, it's a bad idea to do that with the check engine light on. Also, you can see the temp gauge...need I say more?
