  • Purple People Eater

  • sounds awesome looks horrid

  • sounds awesome

  • Wow, that engine ticks over a treat. Did the fueling take much sorting?

  • well shit are you going to ride it or just listen to it idle?>

  • love the sound! just change the color! my eyes are bleeding! my ears are in heaven!

  • Sounds great!

  • sweet bike brotha... that sounds awesome !! and looks great

  • Sounds wicked...Take that out for a ride through suburbia at mid-night.

  • You gaylord you have ruined that bike.

  • @tmcgauran - I have another stock 1985 I can ruin also...would you like the details?

  • @missrunt - An awesome job you have done with the max. Nothing like a custom set up :)

Sounds like you are running a stage 7 dyno jet yeh? Love the sound of those HMF's

  • @missrunt It is not ruined. It is extreamly nice.

  • what size tire is that is it a stock swing arm i just bought a 85 vmax it came with a new rear tire 180/80 will it fit a stock swing arm

  • what size rear tire is that will it fit a stock swing arm i have a 180/80 tire i was going 2 put on mine it came with the bike when i bought it but dont know if it will fit

  • @xX7thseekerXx -200mm on a double notched Cycle One Off Boxed Swing.

  • wham. That thing sounds like a beast.I am saving for a vmax this makes the wait suck so bad.

  • from 1:32-1:40 it sounds like the intro to van halen's hot for teacher haha badass!

  • Friggin sweet! I want a ride! :D

  • I nearly got a hard on listening to this ;-)

  • The color screems "BARNEY" LOL

  • @vmaxman88 it is the original "Barney Max"! LOL

  • holy moly thats the exact exhaust note I want on my Max...sounds like a tight V8! Good job!

  • @macebigelow thank you for the props!

  • What a sound! That's incredible.

  • @ChazdaJazz thank you...worked hard to get him there!

  • My girlfriend said it sounds like a very pissed off puma when you rev it! can you make another video, but like 4 hours long ;o) Thnx for posting!

  • @hoofhearted1469 you might think I'm crazy, but I had a pet Puma, Felis Concolor (Mt. Lion, Cougar) for almost 13 years. He would still put down better 60' runs than my Max...seriously!

  • @missrunt Would love to have a big cat! my two dogs are plenty though. One of my customers keeps tigers, treats them much like pets...but it only takes one time for something real bad to happen.

  • @hoofhearted1469 - Sooo true...best leave the BIG CATS to people who have done it for quite a while or get started young. It takes total devotion and 24 hours a day to make it possible!

  • @hoofhearted1469 lol....isn't it a bit odd that your girl knows what a pissed off puma sounds like?

  • @Turco949 no, not really; been to the zoo many times.

  • いい音してるね~!Good job!

  • greetings from across the pond.just love the sound of your vmax, well done

  • Man I just love that sound...it's pure music to the ears. You did a great job. Reminds me of my old 1990 VMax.....Sounds indentical. Hard does it hit in 2nd. I once popped 3 teeth off of 2nd trying to show my son (on an R1) just how Mr Max could run.......enjoy......love the music

  • Nice sound........

  • bike is sweet for sure but that color purple, thats not a color that screams bad ass v max

  • Nope...the color does not scream when I pass you...but the exhaust note sure does ;)

  • Sounds Great. Nice job

  • LOVE THAT SOUND!!!!!!! I used to own a Vmax. That is the best sounding Vmax I have ever heard!!! Excellent work buddy!!!

  • Great job!

  • still a sweet bike thou

  • dude i don't think you should of fucked with the exhaust i have a 1985 v-max that my uncle used to race...think you tried to hard to make it like a sport bike which clearly its not

  • Bomber...I appreciate your opinion. However, you should know that:

    1 - I bought this bike new in 1985

2 - It has been through many phases since.

3 - With the PCW Tourmaster engine and stage 7 carbs the stock exhaust was way too small to flow correctly.

4 - The suspension upgrades were done to make him hookup better and fix the frame flexing wobbler.

5 - No matter what I do he will never look like a sport bike nor do I want him to.

    Peace Out

  • That's one sick Barney max. Great job.

  • hi what horsepower do it kick out mate .nice sound better without the pipes off... ride safe on the redline

  • Sorry for the delay...been busy with other stuff around home.

In 1995 we did a rw-dyno and got 167 hp/107 lbs of torque with stock exhaust and a different set of carbs.

Since that I have put on new stage 7 jetted carbs, eliminated the vboost, added dyna 3000, and installed HMF exhaust.

Seat of the pants all motor he feels maybe 25 hp stronger...also have pingle bars and a 40 shot that we run at times. He's in the 8.80's when everything clicks on a cold night.

    Peace

  • Oh, the exhaust is HMF lol sorry.

Last question! ... I think LOL sorry...

So if I wanted to get a dual exhaust like yours (or similar), where would you recommend looking?

    THANX ...WOOT LOL

  • Thanks for the compliments!

HMF stopped making these exhausts. I would suggest Marks Pipes, Dale Walker, or UFO in that order.

    markspipe (d0t) com

    holeshot (d0t) com

    ufocycles (d0t) com

    Take Care!

  • Oh man, I commend you on the work you must've done! say where did you get those duel exhaust pipes? Is there another name for them? I am learning lol

Also, are there any kinds of bikes like this that have foot pegs near the front more so your legs can be extended more? Just curious. Thanks for any advise you can give. You sound like a cool dude going by your replies. :o)

    Stay safe brother!

  • OMG! that is the best thing in the world! very jealous! you are very lucky! i bet you love when everyone turns and looks at you and you see them drewling!!!!!!! nice man!!

  • barney max thats funny. she sounds balls out powered up n ready ta drop da ponies on da black top leavin the rest behind ya.

  • Very nice!! I think I saw a picture of this on the forum. Periwinkle? How do you like the HMFs? The are on my list, and if they sound as good as they do here, I made the right choice.

  • Just found out HMF no longer makes these. Guess Dale Walkers is the direction I'll go.

  • That's me ;)

Love the HMF's, I think they are some of the very last made, and I got them from Python in early 2008.

Dale makes great stuff and I've heard nothing but good things about him and the products. Mark also makes some good pipes if you are still looking for comparison.

  • Super nice bike. Very unique. Do you still chat on VMF? If so, what's your handle? I'll give you a shout if I see ya. Take care.

  • Thanks for the compliments!!!

I chat on the VMF spring-fall usually. Handle is Neil-3446 I think.

Doing the USBC tour right now and don't visit too many board besides this one to keep focus.

  • Love your vmax, I'm a big fan of the older suzuki bikes but the vmax has always been alluring for me. I own a 1984 Suzuki GS1100E that I've restored and fixed up on my own, but maybe I'll look for a vmax this summer.

  • Awesome...

I had an 85 GS1150E for a while back in the day and loved it. Keep us posted on your progress with the 1100 and Vmax.

    Thanks for the compliments!

  • i freakin love ur v max man

  • Thank you!!!

  • my dad used to have an 85 vmax. he had it rebuilt cause it had been sitting for years wen he bought it. he kept it origanal on the body (the panels were dark dark purple). the only thing he ever did to it was engine rebuilds that i know of. it hauled ass. as a 13 yr old kid he let me drive him around on it. one day he told me to ride his friend. while riding he said to open it up. well he made me slow down by the timewe hit 2nd gear wile doin a wheely. i was goin 102 in first gear. bad ass bike.

  • Missrunt

Saw you run last weekend I think.

I live in Eastern KY and go to MPDW almost every week!

Are you the girl on the purple vmax running in the 9.90's? Do you have NOS on that bike bolted to the wheelie bars?

  • ;)))))))

My wife is actually MissRunt ;)))

I am the "guy" riding this bike at MPDW. My wife also wears leathers and may have been sitting on the bike when you saw it in the pit area.

Just a 40 shot of NOS with a crappy setup shooting into the vboost boots via 2 foggers. Spur of the moment setup to test the fuel delivery for the final system.

Stop by and say "Hi" if you see us again. I'm wanting to make a couple more weekends before the cold weather really hits.

    Peace

    MR
