@patyycakee, then you're probably white or Mestizo. Not all Salvadorans are Native. My dad's white and he's Salvadoran. On AVERAGE the Salvadorans are roughly 30% native at the most. It depends on the individual and region as well as social class. WHites are usually the rich ones in El Salvador.
@paoadabelle, yup...apparently the Y-dna is a bit over 50% but from what i see it only identifies 12 - 42 percent European. It has been a while since i've read it so I need to read it again AND look at ANOTHER one which is autosomal that was done on Salvadoran Americans which shows a much lower European admixture and a lot higher African admixtue... :/
have u ever been to ES? i understand the point your trying to make. the indigenous background and all that but ES, like many american countries are a mix of cultures. what u said about salvadorean culture? wtf? that brings me back to my question have u ever been to ES? we are a mix of espanol y nativo americano just like the U.S is a mix of the world. being salvadoreno is not DNA its a life style. BTW whats ur source or is everything u said just ur opinion?
@itachimejia, I've been to El Salvador PLENTY of times but all I see is indigenous culture being called something else. A mix? Not really, there is VERY LITTLE Spanish influence. Source?..I use SOURCES.. read a book called "La Historia de El Salvador Tomo I & II".. want me to send ya PDF's of all the books I am reading? I can tell you every single piece of thing that's indigenous. Dia de Muertos..indigenous. Pupusas, indigenous... I can go on and on.
@TheUglyPrince i have those books but i would appreciate it if u have others. the only thing that bothers me about ur opinion is that u think el salvador has no culture. its like saying the U.S. has no culture. our culture is the mix of pipiles, pocomames, lencas, chortis, and European, we even have middle eastern in the mix. shafick handal, tony saca they are of middle eastern decent. btw what part of ES have u been to q departamento? i lived in el departamento of cuzcatlan, in cojutepeque city
@itachimejia "its like saying the U.S. has no culture." no it isn't. The USA had to create their own culture even though a lot of it was shared. Though most of it was not stolen like the culture in Latin America. Also.. Middle Easterners in El Salvador are just wealthy people who wanna take advantage of our resources.
Fitst off great vid, I agree with most of your points, tlazohcamati miac, but why the hate for the Mexica? I've never understood the hatres betweenexicans and Cuzcatlaca! :(
Remembet the only eye witnesses for the sacrifice were spaniards and tortured Mayas!
Allot of El Salvadorian people claim to be Spanish and not Indigenous, so you may be insulting all of these people with your video. Although i do agree most of them look indigenous.
Im salvadorean with pipil descent but i also have Spanish/irish/nordic roots as well from my dads side though, so im a mix of both and my skin is a reallly pale Brown which is part brown and part white.
@TheCaptainjuicy , I'm mixed too. I just wish I knew the exact percentage though. Right now I am learning the Pipil langauge and Lenca language since most of my indigenous blood is probably Lenca since my mom's family mostly come from what is now known as Eastern El Salvador
here's the thing, yes genetically speaking we are without a doubt about 80% mostly indian in appearance. However, culturally speaking we are 97% hispanized, meaning that our primary language is Spanish with obvious add mix from our indian ancestors. That is not to say that we are "hispanics" that's an american notion started in New mexico. We are Hispanized natives with some hints of spanish. We do have a "salvadoran" culture. It is simply the old and the new mixed together.
@1coolguysuper, I'm not a "Cholo" and I still embrace a bit of my Spanish side. You are right,. most mestizos look like me. SOme are darker, have more facial hair..it all depends.
BTW if I were a general back in the 1980's I would have tried to free our people from the slave driving clutches of European religion and the bullshit the schools taught and still teach.
Much respect to you brother. I'm glad some people remember where and who they came from. My mother thinks she's ugly cause she looks India. I tell her that makes her more beautiful ha. So right on!
Shit, you learn new things everyday. I'm Salvadorean, and don't know jack shit about my country's past until I came upon this video. Parents never really talked about the homeland due to the war and shit and came here in the 80's, and well, I never showed interest of my homeland.
But its good to know stuff like this, because I want to teach my kids important history they can learn and I can learn to form a sense of identity to they know who they are and where they came from. Good video.
I'm salvadorian and I've been mistaken for white. ' I even have natural dirty blonde hair. O.o

Also, you should note your sources. Other than that, this information is just your opinion. Btw, pretty good info though.
