  • I am a new subbie and I am not sure if u already have a video for this or not but I would love to see how to do 1940's style finger waves!

  • @ladykc15 I just did a finger waving tutorial. In the 40's the water waving technique was different. See my Veronica Lake tutorial...

  • The hair doesn't damege making pincurls?

  • @catgabs why would it? :-?

  • @LisaFreemontStreet i don't know xD I'm just asking, so, you prefer make pinculrs with wet hair?

  • @catgabs Not wet....sprayed damp. And yes. Pin Curls are important for vintage styling.

  • That looks fantastic! I definitely want to try it out sometime! Though, I wonder, would it look quite as right if I use bobbypins instead of sidecombs? I ask this because I don't actually own any sidecombs. ^.^;

  • @MissScarlettOHara Bobby pins are fine but side combs are a worthy (and inexpensive) investment if you plan to do vintage styles. My favorite are Grip Tuth side combs...

  • @LisaFreemontStreet I think I might try bobbypins first, but if that doesn't come out right I'll go find some combs. Thanks! :]

  • That looks great! Authentic.

  • ohhh haha i see now lol

  • Your videos are awesome, the only thing that bugs me is the angle. :p

Your hair color is so cool btw

  • @RememberSoCal Hopefully you are watching my recent videos too?? :)

  • Ladies, Y'all need to get a hairspray in a blue can with yellow letters from Sally's. It's called "Hold It". Caution: DO NOT spray your hair with "Hold It" until it is EXACTLY like you want it. There is no tweaking it afterward! Your hair will stay in position about 24 hrs. You cannot brush it out. You must wash it out. Thanks for the tute!

  • @girlnextdoorgrooming thanks for the recommendation. You have piqued my curiosity. :)

  • LOL Who keeps closing the door on you?

  • @JessicaRabbitwannabe my baby...he was about 1 and a half at this time.

  • Your videos are amazing. I haven't seen anyone recreate so many of these looks as accurately as you do. It may just be that your are conducive to the look, but the techniques are great. 5 stars!

  • your too awesome i need to buy hair stuff so i can look pretty haha

  • Always loooooooooved this style and finally know how to do it, thaaaaaaaaaaaanks!!!!

  • great hairdo =)

  • Wow! I love all of your videos! I was wondering how I know which hairstyles are specific to the 1950's. I have a 50's party I'm going to and I want to be as authentic as possible. Thanks and keep up the great work!

  • how long did it take you to master the pin curl? Cause I am really struggling here.. :/

  • A while. But I was always practicing. Every time I had downtime (watching tv, whatever), I was grabbing a section of hair and practicing rolling it into a pincurl or victory roll until it just became easy. If the hair is dry, it is much harder, so if you can get it down while your hair is dry, then it will be simple when the hair is damp or wet. :)

  • use medium sized ones all over, for this style. Small ones are best for TIGHT curls. :) Like my Norma Shearer video in the Diamonds and Dames series.

  • ok your awesome! Thanks!!

  • Ok thank you so much that is really helpful knowing. I also tried using sponge rollers. Do you have any tips for using them? Should I stick with the big ones in the front? I used small ones in the front and they looked a little ridiculous. (Sorry if I am being a pain with all these questions!) Thanks! ; )

  • Dayummm Ur Hair

    Looks nice!!<33

  • GORGEOUS!!!

  • I'm trying it right now. This is my first time doing pin curls. They were not as difficult as I expected, once I got the hang of hit. I can't wait to see how it turns out! I'm just worried that my curls will brush out because my hair is so thin...we'll see in the morning!

  • love it great job!

  • You give me fever!! I love that song! :D

Lovely tutorial! Can you do this with bangs too?

    Thanks!

  • Hmmm, I would aim the bangs back to get the full effect. Or you could wear them down and achieve more of a sixties style.

  • Ok! Thank you :)

  • Huh, weird, Earl MacPherson is my uncle.

  • i can't find that album anywhere!! :(

  • u should list the music you use for each video bc when i watch these videos i am so entertained and now i want to download certain songs too!

  • Thanks! I don't usually credit the music because it doesnt make it any less a 'copyright issue' and I actually think it makes it more likely that the song will get pulled. This video uses the music of Gizelle. She has an album called Devil or Angel. Don't hesitate...BUY IT! There hasnt been a voice like hers in years...

  • when you colored your hair red, was it at home or salon? i do it at home and for the first week its bright like yours and then starts to fade :(

i do you use color safe shampoos/ conditioners

  • Red hair fades notoriously. There is, unfortunately, no way to prevent it...especially if you had your hair lightened prior to coloring (like I did). I do color it at home using Loreal Preference and every three weeks or so, I use a semi permant color dye like manic panic, to brighten up the color. Works well. :)

  • yea, i did lighten mine before hand. i usually color every 5 wks just to be kinder to it but i think i am going to start doing it more often. the manic panic thing sounds like a good idea though i will have to try it ^_^. what color manic panic, just the vampire red?

  • I like the orange based 'Infra Red' and 'Flaming' colors. I have a tutorial on this channel, actually. :) It will look like Leelu from the 'Fifth ELement' after it fades a bit. haha.

  • THanks!!!! I love it... I love you.... jajaja Now I gonna have New style

  • Awesome :D

    Your hair looks so soft!

  • Thanks so much!!

  • I am absolutely obsessed with your videos!! You are gorgeous and pull the rockabilly style of so well!! I also love the music in your videos and was wondering who song the last song "fever" I know that Peggy Lee sings the original but who ever sings the version you used has an outstanding voice!!

  • Thanks so much. Both of the songs in this vid are by the same artist. Her name is simply 'Gizelle' and I am a bit obsessed w/ her myself! Her album is difficult to come by but it's called Devil Or Angel and worth every penny if you find it. :)

  • On 4:29 who sings the fever song? I tried finding it everywhere online but couldn't find it. Who is the artists

  • i just loveeeeeeeeeee...... your vintage style.... i just love that shade of green on your wall!!! it's so lovely .... of coursee your hair and make up tooo! haha

  • Good video, very adorable hairstyle : )

  • just curious . . is your husband like one of those guys from grease ? like does he dress like the t-birds ? lol . i love seeing couples who look like a blast from the past ! theres alot at my school who are only in like the 10th grade . . lol .

  • haha...he dresses more along the lines of Andy Griffith, than Grease. Blazers, hats, silky button downs, wingtips etc. :) Lots of hats.

  • Once again this was a very helpful tutorial! thanks so much! i cant wait to go home from work a try it out

  • Thanks for a great tut. I'll have to try my hand at pin curling one day. After I manage the sponge rollers that is. I'm gonna try and sleep in them tonight, maybe that'll help it stay...

  • Can you include a tip on not putting an odd kink in your hair when using old school tools? I have fine naturally curly and I get SO annoyed when I get that weird kink thats NOT a curl. What am I doing wrong? Its where the pin or clip presses on the hair.

  • There's not really one. The flat alligator cliips I use for pincurls will not usually dent unless you put too much hair in them. The sponge rollers do dent occasionally though, as do hot rollers. You have to kind of learn how to hide the dents. Dont use claw clips to hold your hot rollers; use the traditonal pins. I've found they don't dent nearly as much.

  • Hi Ashley !

Another beautiful video and another great musical choice ! Who is the artist singing and the song title ? THANKS :-)

  • The artist is my current favorite female vocalist, Gizelle. She was 19 when she recorded this album. Her voice blows me away! The song is called 'Nothing Takes the Place of You'. My husband and I consider it 'our song' now. :)

  • 19? No way! Her voice is incredible.

  • i love this hairstyle on you! I am so jealous! haha your hair is SO cooperative with what you do to it. I have to work really hard with mine to achieve this kind of style.

  • oooooo THANK YOU

  • Totally love it!

  • Looks great!!!gonna try this soon!!!

  • your so pretty! and am obsessed with your videoos!! all your hairstyles are amazing and your so 1940s .. my favorite era i wish i was like you!

  • That's very flattering but very unnecessary...yu should be like YOU! :D

  • Thanks everybody! I am so happy that everyone is so nice to me in the comments...I've seen some horrible comments on others' vids. So thanks again!

  • Very cute!

  • this is so pretty :)

  • you made that look incredibly easy...(btw...i just ordered my first dolly bag...had to share that with ya!)...

  • Beautiful, cant wait for my hair to get a little longer so I can try this :)

  • Amazing! This was really helpful! Thank you

  • Beautiful job!

  • that's so pretty :)

  • I really like this one!

Can you do more rockabilly 50's style hair do's?

  • Thanks!

Rockabilly style encompasses both the 40's and 50's and I consider it very much my aesthetic. Therefore, I would say that all of my tutorials could be considered 'rockabilly' style. If there is a style you are more drawn to personally, let me know and I'll be happy to see what I can do. :)

  • Hmm. Think i'll try this tonight before work.

  • Wow! That looks so pretty!!
