  • The Tossers shit all over them dropkicks...but The Pogues shit all over the pair of 'em...

  • Hey, I got a question, who actually wrote this song? I see many bands doing their different versions, DKM for example.

  • it's a 19th century Irish protest song

  • Both DKM and The Tossers' version is very good. They vary in style, they have different approach to it and they both do it very well. I couldn't say that one of them is actually better. Cheers everyone!

  • as much as i lik the Tossers, i like DKM's version more

  • Is there a non-live version (Or live with better audio) of this on YouTube? This is one of the Tossers' best songs and, while decent I suppose, the sound quality on this video could be better.

  • as a die hard dkm-fan i must admit that this version is better

  • both versions are a pain in the a..

  • it is kind of like comparing apples and oranges

dkm is more punk/rock/ traditional celtic this is more traditional irish

  • No, it's not. The Tossers are definitely punk rock. They're just better at it

  • DKM is a better version. end of story.

  • DKM's singer's haggard voice can't carry this song.

  • Completely disagree. His haggard raw voice makes it better, to my ears. Though this is also a fantastic version.

  • Like a lot of the more recent DKM songs, I can't help but think that they would be better if Mike was still with 'em. As for the Tossers' version, it's one of the highest points in their career.

  • Why did Mike Leave? I am a hardcore DKM fan but don't know why he left. Love this version too by the way, but I must say the best version would have been the diggers singing it through WW2 just for the context of which they would have been singing it.

  • Mike left DKM to persue other forms of music. Jeff is a good addition to the band though.

  • Cheers for clearing that up for us mate much appreciated.

  • no problem man.

  • I was under the impression that Mike left to pursue his lifelong dream to become a Boston Firefighter, and after several years he then formed Street Dogs

  • Thats what i read off their website. You may very well be right. Thats just what i read.

  • he formed the street dogs because he missed the music. and your right, he did want to be a boston fireman, which he was

  • maybe, but the tossers did it first. or at least were the first folk-punk band to do it. and they recorded it 11 years before the murphys did, so i'll give them more credit.

  • Actually the song is much older than either bands. I love both versions.

  • of course its older, but the tossers where the first folk-punk band to do it (like i said) so they had to rearrange the rythym and texture of the song to fit it to a non-folk setting, which is no small task

  • Ok I see what you saying now

  • @osiks nah

  • love the song.. hate to say but not really impressed with the performance

  • all our wars are merry, all our songs are sad !

  • Yea and a IRISH WAKE is something TO DIE FOR TOO! LMAO!

  • Nice One ...! I'm still alive + Kicking. but I've vague memories of wishing I was dead after such occasions
