YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

Man.... You have all these skills, yet.... I mean you're making u-tube vids....you should be w/ some ridiculously sucsessful metal band....I don't get it.....

@Dudelikes223 Thanks :) I appreciate that. I've actually been in a successful band. They are called GNOSTIC and are signed to Seasons of Mist Records on the same lable as ATHEIST as the drummer from ATHIEST started GNOSTIC. They are bigger in Europe than in the states but it was great to play with them. Honestly I have major health problems that keep me from touring. I"m happy to just play/write/teach. :)

@Dudelikes223 Such is life. Just gotta work with the cards you get dealt :) As for guitars, I LOVE my Minarik Lotus which is what I'm using in this video. If you go to the Minarik web site and contact them, and let them know you are one of my youtube students, they will give you a special deal created just for my youtubers.

Awesome tone, awesome teaching, and great series of videos, man.

But one thing is bugging me. I KNOW the second position. It's a section of a classical song, but I cannot identify for the life of me. I can never figure the name of the song out if I have other music going, but I have to relisten to memorize it... Any help?

Thanks ;0) The Minarik Lotus is a big piece of the tone puzzle. They are great guitars. Bop over to their site and tell them I sent you and you can get a deal on one. As for the scale, the structure I'm using is used in a TON of classical stuff. I"m actually drawing on my experience as a classical player for it's construction. I know the piece you are talking about and yes it's an exact match. The name escapes me off hand but good ear!

Thanks for watching :) It sounds like quite a bit of stuff as it's a commonly used pattern. It sounds good over lots of different chord changes so it gets lots of use.

How hard do you have to tap? I've thought about tapping from time to time, but I'm never sure how to get into a tapping part or how to get back out again. Maybe if I end with a bend, that will give my picking hand time to get back to the pickup side.

You shouldn't have to tap very hard once you get used to the technique. :) You can always practice tapping with your second finger on your picking hand so that you don't have to cut loose of your pick. Some prefer it. I like tapping with the first finger so I roll the pick in to my palm when playing live.
