How, exactly, does something described as "mid-left" or "mid-right" via stereo headphones contribute anything (other than neuralogical confusion) to a binaural soundtrack?

ok (-100 L) would be left pan and (+100R) is right. so with that in mind, theoretically 0 would be (center)... SO.... Midright would be (-50 L) in the middle from Left to Center.. (+50 R) is midright.. So midright and mid left would be +/-50 .. sorry if my description confused you.

you can call them halfway left and halfway right or somewhat left and somewhat right. I never went to audio school so i wouldn't know what the pros call em. I say midleft and midright. Im trying to explain this the best way possible.
