  • you know, paul and billy and the guys didn't kill lowell george! bad enough they lost their friend and colleague. brave enough they decided to carry on. lowell's death is not an excuse to trash the rest of the band. it was (and is) a BAND, not a back-up band for lowell! he is missed but respecting the current little feat is not a slur against him. give the guys a break! they've earned their standing. they ARE little feat.

  • This is an Allen Toussaint song that Lowell cover on his lp. Great cover of a cover.

  • @1blastman

    You're incorrect.

The song "Two Trains" was written by Lowell George and originally recorded by Little Feat on the "Dixie Chicken" album.

Toussaint did cover the song, notably with Leo Nocentelli on the Lowell George tribute album, but the song is most assuredly not an Allen Toussaint song.

Perhaps you're confusing it with "On Your Way Down" which also appears on "Dixie Chicken" which was written by Toussaint.

  • @JaysonK19 Actually, I got Two Trains [which Toussaint covers regularly in concert], with his "Last Train" which is on his Southern Nights record which was release in 1975. I can't prove this, but I sure that Lowell and Allen traded musical ideas back in the day. I'm sure they influenced each other in some ways.

Both are musical geniuses, I'm glad Toussaint is alive and well and still very creative.

    RIP LG

  • LOVE

  • Saw Paul and Fred at Carrollton Station during Jazzfest several years ago. This was a small intimate setting and it was an amazing night. Teresa Anderson came in at the end and jammed. Lowell was certainly there in spirit.

  • Parasites on Lowell. Without trading on Lowells's music they'd both be rockin' the deep fryer. Give me one piece of original music these hacks have written that is known beyond their immediate families.

  • Wow ! If this do`nt rock you, you are mighty rusten

  • Little Feat leave Big Footprints. They're a grand band.

  • Uhhh....maybe I listen to too much country blues...but this sounds like a band arrangement minus drums, bass and electricity...

  • I guess there will always be disagreement as to who is the heart of Little Feat...for my part the only one of 'em I'd have in my dream band would've been Richie Hayward RIP

  • Why do my comments not post? Anyway, if it ain't Lowell, you got business invoking the name Little Feat. If Bill Payne wanted to be in a jazz band he should have quit Feat (would have been a good thing) and started his own project.

  • LOWELL GEORGE was the and will alway be the heart of Little Feat! Everything the various members and new members have done since may be fine, but it ain't the Feat. If it doesn't have Lowell, it's NOT Little Feat. Bill Payne should be hung by his jazz fusion thumbs.

  • sweet, maybe they will do something like this tomorrow!!

  • I don't mind these guys making a living. They were in the band. But, to describe them as "the heart of Little Feat" deserves some kind of award for most shameless self aggrandizing chicken shit in the history of rock and roll.

  • Really enjoy this song, glad I came across it... Thank you for the post!

  • Zappa supposedly threw Lowell George out of his band. Had to be threatened. He couldn't shine Lowell's shoes even on a good day.

  • @wimpicker54

i saw them both many times in TX, and Zappa and Lowell were very gifted musicians. their music was for the cognoscenti, not the beer pop crowd

Billy Payne and the Feat are still rocking, still setting poetry to music.

  • @mhgtexas Bill Payne is a legend in his own mind.

  • @wimpicker54 I heard that after seeing the Willin' lyrics, he asked Lowell to leave because he didn't want drugs in his songs and thought Lowell should have his own band. I also heard that the bought them equipment and got them started

  • WOW!! Fantastic. Too much.

  • SHIT!!!! Perfect job guys!

  • These guys are great, they do a great acoustic set 10/10 Jake

  • I'm thrilled to be finding this. Paul is a Good Rockin Daddy and his voice has always been one of my favorites. He's got passion--just look at some of the earlier Feet--of course they are all stoned--but nevermind that. And I LOVE Fred--another very fine everything!

  • Lovely sound. Excellent song. Top stuff all round.

  • two hearts, seven wheels

  • two hearts, seven wheels

  • that guitar picker sure could play

  • what no one has a studio ff Lowell for 2 trains? Too sad.

  • Great job, gents. But I must say, I sure do miss Lowell and I know you do too. Music took one helluva blow when he died.

  • What is the point of dwelling on the past? Lowell gave us heaps and let's treasure that. But he IS gone!!!Period. And nothing, absolutely sfa will bring him back. The only thing real is what IS now. These guys rock and I would say that when I saw Little Feat about 4 years ago in Sydney they were IMHO the best band I have ever seen! Let's be grateful the rest of the band are in such great form!

  • This is one heck of a nice version. Sadly Paul Barrere cannot sing nearly as well as Lowell, Craig or Shaun. He gives it his best shot though.

  • Great To Here You Guys...

    Paul Barrere and Fred Tackett...

My 14 Year Old Digs It TOO!

  • Even if Lowell was the heart of Little Feat, without the brain, Lungs, and liver, You're still dead. P&F are so talented, It sickens me to hear people belittle the Talent that has survived, and still plays 200 dates a year.

Paul, Has paid more for the loss of Lowell than you or I ever will. Long live Little Feat & the memory of Lowell George, If we're really going to get better, don't stuff gotta stop bein' bad?

    Dwell on the good shit,

    T

  • @Tipi1 you are right as rain.

  • Hi austin Pickers, I recognize you as bonifide members of Little Feat and I appreciate this version. Sam Bush also has a killer mando version of 'Sailin' Shoes' Please check out my guitar/mando duet.

  • I feel like a lot of others. Lowell wrote this music, brought this band together, and HE was the heart of Little Feat. Did you know the band's name was b/c Lowell had little feet? He spelt feat this way as a nod to the Beatles. I can accept this song because it's not billed as LITTLE FEAT! And yes, two fine musicians doing a great song he wrote. But to me, Little Feat will only be those performances and ect that contain Lowell George. Wonder who's gettin' all the song royalties?? Hm.

  • Mandolin! Of course. It seems so obvious a choice for re-invention of Lowell's music.

  • OMG-- I was about to type the very words that mcleanartists wrote here: "the heart of 'Little Feat' was and always will be Lowell George. Period." He was a huge personality, warm and sure, had faults like all of us do; but he had talent and was the "sound" of Little Feat -something new back in the 60's and 70's especially. I loved and do love him.

  • simply fantastic, thanks. Ciao, Matteo from Italy

  • The "heart of Little Feat" was and always will be Lowell George. Period.

  • I really like them! I have never heard anything about them before tonight!! :-)

  • Yep...We made it into a DVD. You can buy it directly from Paul and Fred at www.paulandfred.com
