Peter fluffs a few lines here...but the energy is so strong! And that rhythm section is great....shame they went to the US...we loved them here in London!
i had an argument with someone that lindsey buckingham was a better guitarist... i should've done a bit more research before i started that argument.... peter green is obviously the better guitarist...
i can't say anything about Peter Green that hasn't already been said, but i will add that i'm amazed at how FEW drummers are capable of playing a (real) shuffle at that tempo. So few even bother to learn that. Thank you Mick Fleetwood! A great track!
That's the stigma Mick Fleetwood traded for pop success in 1975.
If they only knew how good a blues shuffle beat drummer Mick Fleetwood was in 1967. This is the fastest (real) blues shuffle I've heard from any drummer (Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, BB King, and Paul B Blues Band). Mick Fleetwood was born to be the drummer for Peter Green, in any project. Just LISTEN TO THIS SONG! Has anyone ever noticed that "Don't Stop" is a blues shuffle? Mick Fleetwood want's PG back!!
I would say Green's musical style (vocals, songwriting/guitar) is a heavy combination of BB King, Otis Rush and Howlin' Wolf, with touches of Freddy King and Albert Collins
the Collins influence is most evident on I Loved Another Woman, which seems influenced by Kool Aid
Wow ---now I know what Rory Gallagher was talking about... the ONLY time I ever saw him even get close to dissing anybody in an interview, he was saying the difference between Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, and te BLUES, and what they'd become was [here he was so astounded, he was at a loss for words!] .. he said if they ever kept calling them a "blues band" (this was in the 1980s), he could find it hard not to comment upon it.
Ahh Peter Green does it for me everytime! I prefer the slower version of this song, but this version has merit in it's vitality and, of course, Green's ever incredible phrasing :D Thanks for posting
need to know th song that starts off like..ooooo ooooo ooooo ooooo an breaks into guitar later on an i cant member who sings it or the name! it came out the time of nixon's presidency anyone who has an idea PLEASE reply:)
Odd track this.. seems to be only Green, MacVie & Fleetwood.. I don't hear any other guitars here. It is a GREAT example of what a fab Drummer Fleetwood is,
esp on this kind of shuffle. The guy is like a freakin' clock!! ALSO.. just dawned on me that a BIG influence on Green vocally
The Original Fleetwood Mac is a compilation album by blues-rock band Fleetwood Mac, first released in 1971. It consists of various outtakes recorded by the first incarnation of the band in 1967-68. The album was re-released in 2000 with four extra tracks.
Thanks, Bleadbelly. I've got the very first album (Blue Horizon Album), and I love it. I've also got the Boston Tea Party Live CD(vol. one), check it out. Its really good! :)
Hi dezern8. I assume you mean the "dog & dustbin album, which I also have. My collection consists of- Mr Wonderful Pious bird of good omen Blues jam in Chicago vol 1 Blues Jam in Chicago vol 2 The Original Fleetwood Mac Fleetwood Mac Windsor 1967 Fleetwood Mac Carousel Ballroom 1968 English Rose Live at the BBC Live at the Fillmore West 1970 In addition I have quite a few of the Peter Green Splinter Band Now it looks like Boston Tea party is on the shopping list!! lol
You've got the collection I wish I had. Believe it or not, the first Mac album I bought back in '75, when the FM album came out with Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. I liked the song "Rhiannon", so I bought the Album. A friend who played guitar, told me to check out the Fleetwood Mac in Chicago album. I bought it, and have been a fan of the early Fleetwood Mac ever since. I saw them in 1972 when Danny Kirwan was still with them, great concert!
@twoslices A wife who's forgotten nephew had a ball-bag that he held his AT-AT walker and other star wars toys. St. Nick, are reformed Sargent, once described Jamie's scrotum as a hiking sock with marbles in it. After regretfully making this comment, the Sarge went to the boys house in the east end of London holding nothing but a vole taped across his un-shaved chest. "My boy" scream through the crisp night air, "I bring you a vole!" after hours of talking the srt. made the vole eat jami's sac
Take 1 of this song is on fire, but unfortunately it's an incomplete take. Take note how fast Mick Fleetwood is playing a blues shuffle beat, great stuff.
Great tune. Rock solid rhythm section. Fantastic blues voice. Great guitar tone. Not his most assured soloing, but great to hear anything from those Blue Horizon sessions.

@TDKIII I also noticed a slight Albert Collins influence on the song "Greeny." It's subtle but I believe that it's there.

Yes certainly. Otis Rush and BB King among others are not bad guys to take props from! Two of my favorites too actually.
