  • Elvin Never Dies

  • So controlled, Steve Jordon is a top performer and creates feeling in his rhythm!

  • LOVE the stick sound on that ride with the rivets.

  • ...and his a little disappointed because he only has a deal with paiste..? :P

  • using the open grip like elvin!

  • beauty, bop. bad!

  • I recognize that left-side cymbal from a certain Wayne Shorter album! ;)

  • I think instead of taking any more guitar lessons, i'm just going to try to hire a really good drummer to rehearse with me. when i see a dude like this, it just makes me realize i could learn so much by just grooving along to a solid evolving groove.

  • @rillloudmother ..... no doubt man .... lessons can help but the most important things are listening to music and playing with other musicians

  • @sweetfly66 that's what I just said...

  • LOL!!!! I love his response at the end when he stops.... basically the same response we all would/ should have!... 'Im mean,... these are teh best cymbals I've ever played..' Whaddya expect him to ask to try the B8's?...

  • @HNIC94 .... haha ...the Scimitar`s

  • awesome sound and awesome player :D

  • Just for the record, yesterdays two postings should read.....

    So to play.

    Born to crash..... 2nd verse.

  • So to play.

Born to crash yet he will ride

nearly smashing again, again and again, yet, shivering, vibrant, restful

of course involved in the same way

    the buzz even greater

    more Jones

    more his style........ Yeah!

  • That Crash, Phoenix from the fire

eastern alchemy, majestic ingots from an ancient founder,

those guardians, so secret, so powerful

a glance of the hammer, that hone of the lathe

bell tone harmonics that sing sweetly of Constantinople - like Damascus blades,

    though rings, no rapiers these.

    So to play.

  • God this such an eargasm!

  • what year would these cymbals be from?

  • HAHAHHAHA I WAS JUST ABOUT TO WRITE A COMMENT ABOUT THE SABIAN B8 bwahahaha to funny any way i got to go bye.

  • This shows what a Don Steve is, he is old blood man....a real G as they would say in nowstimes, back in the day,,,,,just plain outta sight.

  • That.... Is awesome! Great tone and great playing Steve.

  • M A S T E R

  • What's doing a B8 on Steve Jordan's range of vision?

  • @mgmjdp Travis Barker came in earlier that day.

  • @mgmjdp Pretty sickening.

  • @mgmjdp in*

  • @mgmjdp videobombing

  • Cooool!!! なに叩いてもカッコいい、正直、憎らしいくらいカッコいい!!

  • OH DEAR, there goes his PAISTE contract!

  • @Helslinky lol ! good comment . Paiste needs to LEARN from this. (though old 602's are incredible...)

  • wow..what a great musician. amazing

  • Watching Steve Jordan in a music store, on a vintage, un-mic'd, drum kit, with Elvin Jones cymbals, sounding and playing that good, is by far more entertaining than to me, then watching a flashy drum solo in a big stadium, with some guy up there just playing as fast as possible with all the lights and stuff. It's a shame that there are still a lot of drummers out there who think it's all about the speed!

Thanks for this post! AMAZING AMAZING clip!! So inspiring to watch this!

  • @funkydrummer14 People usually get impressed by speed thats a fact, but its only when you drum for longer periods of time will you start to realize that the speed doesn't impress you anymore and you dwell more on solid groove and technique

  • he is very good also at jazz drumming..! he is totally into it! the right mood....

  • steve does it all! jazz funk pop the perfect gigging drummer!

  • he is like Blade playing drums

  • @cherkassky92 how is he anything like Blade?

  • @cherkassky92 except for the part where steve jordan can't really swing

  • @flipadiddle So true, those cymbals sound bad ass and he sounds like a funk drummer playing a "jazz beat"

  • @supercat4000 haha yeah, agreed. Steve Jordan is a really grooving drummer, but it's just not working for the swing thing. It's interesting how having a great feel as a funk/pocket drummer and as a jazz drummer are so different, and having one definitely doesn't neccesarily mean you're good at the other.

  • @flipadiddle i guess its all about the feel. i have drummed metal drumming for far too long and when i do any other genre it sounds very metalish even if i am doing jazz or slower stuff

  • @flipadiddle Mark Guiliana anyone?

  • @Cosbibi if you're implying that he's not great at playing straight ahead jazz, i could believe that, but i've never heard him play in that type of situation, so i wouldn't know. he's definitely a fairly ridiculous drummer though.

  • @flipadiddle he didn't mean brian blade, he meant blade (the movie with wesley snipes)

  • @cherkassky92 that's exactly what I thought!

  • "well these...you know...ya don't....these are probably the best cymbals I've ever played."

He's speechless for a few seconds.

  • @marsailmar

Yeah I laughed at that. Even though the recording quality isn't perfect, I could hear the character of the ride cymbal that I recognise from all the CD's with Elvin Jones on them.

  • i love how theres shitty b8pro cymbals in the background, steve and sabian b8pro's shouldn't be in the same room!.

  • Yes he can swing to!

  • elvin used zildjians right?

  • @armedwithturtles yes. the zbt!

  • @armedwithturtles K. Zildjian Istanbul made in Turkey!

  • This is seriously awesome.
