I know that most old sporting events footage is lost. They never had the brain to keep the footage around at the TV stations. The only footage that exists today is what might be laying in someones attic or something.. It would be cool to watch an entire season from the 40's and 50's.. COOL CLIP
My Dad played for RedSox/Phillies/Cardinals/Tigers 1951-1956 - wonder where/if I would be able to track down any of the games that he played in? I know some were aired on television as my grnadmother said she watched him pitch, but it was before I was born.
@gymnastix Ben Flowers - pitcher and played with Ted Williams - I have tons of great memorabilia - sadly he passed 2 years back and we miss him dearly.
Opening footage came from October1951...Giants finish their miracle drive, win the best-of-3 playoff to take the National League pennant. But they couldn't overcome the Yankees, who were in the middle of a dynasty that took five straight World Series from 1949 through 1953.
You can see the what that sclerosis did to Gehrig. In the stills from his play days he's healthy as a horse; in the retirement ceremony he's seriously lost weight.
