  • I'll send a resounding Amen in response to this video. Mr. Hairston is a hero of mine. I simply loved the man and the profound enjoyment he has brought me through his music over the years puts me forever in his debt. A great American hero in my estimation!

    Thank you for this video,

    Rolland B. Heiss

  • thank you for taking the time to post this who knew??

it goes to show you just never know...

    thanks once again:0

  • Some of the narrator's comments are erroneous. It's Lilies of the FIELD, not Valley- and it's Sidney Poitier, not Harry Belefonte.

  • @ROBOTkw1 You're right!!

  • Jester Hairston was the soul of artistry and dignity. I'll never forget him on the "Tonight Show" telling the story of coming to Hollywood at behest of legendary composer Dimitri Tiomkin.

Political correctness precludes me from repeating Dr. Hairston's story, but I rarely saw Johnny Carson enjoy a guest so much.

Jester Hairston was a supreme talent and a wonderful American.

  • Very nice video. i visited the museum 3 months ago but cannot get back there now. it says Sugar Hill does not exist anymore. Help?

  • @DLThornton1286 Search SL for WISE at CAU. That's where the museum's now located. You Tube won't let me post a slurl
