  • @DH1234561 There's a couple of pictures of Janis topless near the end.

  • I'm really curious about how many hippies there are out there still, and not from America. I am a hippie from Romania, and Janis' music has inspired me to keep on going no matter what. Peace and love to you all!

  • my mom was a big fan, gotta say, she's got a pretty good taste.

  • come mai sono stai messi limiti di età??mi sembra esagerato...allora dovremo blindare un sacco di cose e persone...

  • Legend.........

  • I saw Janis in the late 60's in San Francisco and there was and is no one to compare with her voice, style, or talent. Its a pity she was taken from us the world and my generation lost a great talent. What a pity for us and all who lived during the love generation.

  • i can't stop to listen...It´s so good the song and SHE IS AMAZING!!!

  • Her voice really punches you in the heart. It's so powerful

But tbf a minor would have orgasmed at 3:30 :D

  • janis is awesome! awesome hippie chick! you go girl!

  • She drank Southern Comfort and did lots of drugs...lived fast, hard, and well...died way too soon.

    RIP, The Rose.

  • What a great artist she was!

  • Just plain stupid this song is age restricted.Young ones won't understand. And if they do, they're probably old enough.

  • lol I looked up Janis Joplin because Donna from That 70's Show has a Joplin poster in her room.

  • maybe the best female vocal of all time!!!

  • @vazmo14850 It's true... :D

  • @vazmo14850 Also Who can't feel all the soul in her voice!

  • @vazmo14850 mmmm. i may have to disagree. i think Rebecka black could give her a run for the money.

  • Janis,Hendrix,Cobain,Morrison, and now recently deceased Amy Winehouse they all died at 27 and from the same possible reasons...

  • @clonetrooper978 yea....their in the 27 club.....can u imagine all them jammin....kids these days couldnt take it. lol i do......

  • Saw her at Woodstock,AWESOME!!! What a loss of so many talented yet tortured people. Music today does nothing for the most part but pander to the auder 14 age group, sad.

  • @dgmj1 I hope it'd be only about money, but it's even about worse things...

  • 2:13 axl rose??

  • watch AMANDA OVERMYER, American Idol Finalist season 7, also sing this same song PIECE OF MY HEART at all her concerts while on tour promoting her new album SOLIDIFY (itunes). You can see Overmyer's version also posted over YOUTUBE ...

  • Just as good as the day i bought this on vinal

  • ♥__♥

  • Well over 1 million people have visited this video and only 9 of the shitheels disliked it. 9! That is testament to how cataclysmically amazing this song is.

  • I was called "too old school" the other day... this song is the perfect example of nothing being wrong with old school!!! :D

  • To all the female singers like Miley,Justin, Lady Gaga etc.

This is what a real singer sounds like.

  • Stop posting comments saying that the music today sucks and that you like the old music even though are *insert a number between 10 and 15* years old. IT IS NOT ORIGINAL AND IT DOES NOT MAKE YOU LOOK COOL.

  • I just love her voice. Has so much meaning.

  • Awesome tune tuxiana1 janis is the bomb got no more to say but she made the angels sing

  • mitica!!!!

  • 3:59 i love that picture. it is psychedellic and i love it for that

  • @alexpursang96 could you do us a favour and not mension this crap please

  • Everyone complaining about "music these days," no matter your age just aren't looking hard enough for meaningful, good music. Maybe you ought to give it a try.

Anyway, I haven't been able to stop listening to Janis Joplin for days. Great voice, great lady.

  • im 15 and i think this is the music todays children should listen to and not that hannah montana, justin bieber crap!what happened to real music!?!

  • @irenehandakaris thanks for telling me how old you are. I always wonder how old people watching the same videos as me are and never tire of hearing about their precociously good music taste.

  • @MrOdsplut im glad i made you happy.

  • A Great mV version of the Great Janis. Very well done. Two thumbs up. Ricky!

  • when i hear music from this era, my soul just sings, sings along with it as if i were there standing in the crowd watching these wonderful people create such wonderful music. when i listen to music from this era, i feel like i'm home, like i'm where i belong. and it's this feeling that makes me truly believe that i was born into the wrong era, that i have a spirit born from this era. out of all the music genres in the world, this is absolutely my most favorite. oh sweet music take me home.

  • @andiimayleangray67 Bless you!

  • pitty she diedd

  • im 15 and this songs dope. who gives a shit

  • @luvyellowroses1......... gotcha

  • I personally heard the Faith Hill version and couldn't imagine that a soulfull singer like Joplin could have ever sung that song because that version is so clean cut and sanded down to an image of perfection, which is totally unfitting for a song like this that is meant to be raw, rough and most of all believable. I believe that Janis is actually feeling the song. While Faith's version is better in a technical standpoint, her's fails to create a deep connection with what she's singing.

  • @MySmileInside it's called studio tricks, this is a well known fact of faith hills music career.

no singer i know that aspires to be great looks to faith hill, they all say "well she used to be good, then she started cheating"

  • I can't stop listening to it.......

  • Best song ever!!!I'm 15 years old...Everybody around me listen to new songs that have only rythm..no music...no good voices...I don't think that could be called music..Real music is songs like this one!!Even if many years will pass we won't forget talented people like Janis Joplin!!

  • Forever 27...

  • i love how you cant even see the dislikes :P haha

  • che donna

  • Candidate for best song of all time. In the discussion.

  • it's funny how many famous people have died at 27, and now amy winehouse has aswell, my mum remembers when janis j died and she said she didn't get slated for taking drugs, so why is it happening to amy? people have called her a waste of space, i just find it traggic and a loss to music, just like janis was!

  • @nuttynicky390 People will always criticize, but it doesn't matter because the talented peoples names always live on. They become timeless.

  • @manormaid Except for the raw unmarketed talent that is trodden underfoot.

  • @TaNeviem Yay!!

  • hey guys I'm 3 years old, and I like this so much better than music these days!! I felt like making you all aware of this, as if the only people who watch this are 50+ and think that the fact one little kid likes Joplin it changes your whole opinon on the fact that Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga are considered 'the best' of modern music.

  • Overrated crap! Not a note to be heard

  • @RelativeBadger

Overrated? Yes, because its deserves all the top ratings songs get. Crap Not So Much. And there is no note to be heard because she is the only singer who sings in chords, which is mesmerising.

  • the queen of rock the forerunner of awesome female rockers

  • Ma anche piu' di Summertime eh.

  • As much as I love this song, I had to stop at 3:36.. that pic is awesome.

  • The most annoying comments on youtube are people whinning about how music "sucks" today, well guess what mother fuckers you aint gonna find real music on radio fucking one.

  • @WeDieYoung1991 there's some pretty decent shit still out there. Finding it is a bitch though :)

  • @WeDieYoung1991 Exactly, there was plenty of music that sucked in the past too. People are so full of shit. THose comments are only second to people all like "I'm ONLY 8 and I love The Smiths, Lady GaGa and Justin Bieber sucks!!" Its like, what? You want a fucking cookie?

  • @Zunecrazy Somebody gets it, YES! Disco sucks!

  • @Zunecrazy

you have a point BUT music is more awful on a large scale. these days as long as people 'look' the part and can bring in money, they're considered artists. i think talent was more worth its weight back then

  • @theDancingfairy I can agree with that. But on that same token, there's still good music out there but it takes research :/

  • Comment removed

  • @Zunecrazy what the f**k i don't admitt that the smiths are confused with shits like gaga or bieber, smiths are a piece of musical history...

  • @CappuccinoDKMU I wasn't accusing you, I was directing my comment at the idiots who like to show off their age and say that (For example) The Smiths are awesome and that Lady GaGa and Justin Bieber are garbage for no other reason than to make themselves seem cool, edgy and different for their age *barf*

  • @Zunecrazy i know but you were talking like the smiths and lady gaga or bieber are the same shit...

  • @CappuccinoDKMU Oh, the comma threw you off. Pretend the comma after Smiths is a period and then re-read. It'll make more sense then.

  • @WeDieYoung1991 Yes you will...

  • @KcKlax I checked your page your an example fan. Your opinion doesn't count.

  • @WeDieYoung1991 I checked your grammar, and it is shit. Therefor your opinion does not count.

Plus someone who hates other forms of music and classes them as not real music, is a retard. Just because you do not like it, doesn't mean it is bad. You're just an idiot.

  • @KcKlax Seriously? I dont proof read every comment we are only on youtube man. Everything about your taste screams dumb ass kid that listens to radio one and goes to these bullshit festivals its sad really. Some music is just pure shit no matter which way you cut it and your page is full of it. You must be lost this is Janis Joplin not Tinie Tempah.

  • @WeDieYoung1991 Wow, i'm actually arguing with a hippie idiot. Tell me, how do you live your life? Because i can tell that you are a musical retard who likes one genre and sticks to it. By the looks of things you have picked a genre where you wasn't alive and now you are a hipster. Janis Joplin would have looked out todays music and thought wow, digital production and use of VSTs is something everyone from years back is impressed by. Now go 'Be one with the trees'.

  • @KcKlax In one point you are right..I am sure that she would be impressed by todays digital production but you have missed one point..You can't say that todays music is good as 60's,70's and 80's..They have digital production and many things that 60's didn't have..But they have not the SOUL and the HEART artists had back then..Nowadays music is about money and only that!!I'm 25 and I feel good with myself that I'm able to listen 60's music!!And Ican't find any problem liking that genre..

  • @dgmj1 No soul and heart? You obviously haven't listened to a lot of bands today, i'm guessing you only listen to Chris Moyles on Radio one aswell don't you? Radio One has every genre possible on it.

  • @KcKlax Now you're showing yourself to be a complete dumbass. The hipster is someone who follows what is trendy or "hip" at that time and I listen to anything from Anne Briggs to Om, hardly hipster genres are they, unless folk and stoner rock are hipster genres now? LMFAO. You are a guy that listens to one genre, POP! Get a fucking clue kid lol I'm done arguing with a take that member wannabe like yourself now, talking to you is like trying to tell a 13 year old girl Justin Bieber sucks.

  • @WeDieYoung1991 You've just proved you don't know what a hipster is... "Oh dude i aint hipster, i listen to these unknown old bands" poor fella. Well you say i listen to Example but didn't bother looking to what else i like now did you... I thought so. Ps, pop means popular, if Janis Joplin is popular then she can also be classed as pop. You was born in 1991, one year before me, so you cannot call me kid.

  • @KcKlax Your just too much, how are the fuck are om unknown? They are around from 2007 to now you are really showing yourself up here KID, just because you don't know a band doesn't mean they are obscure. And I did look at what else you had, two door cinmea is the ultimate hipster band you moron along with animal collective and friendly fires, and I hate all three, you hipster twat. And pop means popular? Really? I had no fucking clue, seriously your just too much kid.

  • @KcKlax Who is Chris Moyles??I'm Greek man..In your channel you can see that the music you like is very different than 60's..I have a question for you..Why are you here commenting about Janis? You don't belong here unless you like Janis..You have your opinion about music and I have mine but the fact is that music back then was REAL music!!It was NOT about MONEY kid!!!Nowadays music is only about MONEY and you have to realize that!!If you don't you'll keep listening to nowadays music..cheers!!!

  • @dgmj1 The biggest Radio DJ in the UK, you should know this if you know about Radio 1 since he is the main person on it... Because i actually like this song, that is why i'm on this page. I think you'll find that these days the artist is in it for the music, while the record labels are in it for the money as they always have been.

  • @dgmj1 The only thing nowadays has compared to the 60's is shit, Digital Production and Autotuning are both Pussy Materials so people could basically lip-sing. Back then they had actual talent

  • @KcKlax Is there something wrong with being a hippy? I mean you are listening to Janis Joplin here. Not that I am a hippy but by the looks of your profile picture you're a metrosexual cunt, I know which one I would prefer to be. My original comment you thick cunt was how music is ALWAYS good I like more bands today than in the late 60s/70s era you absolute moron. If anyone is a hipster here it's you, metro prick.

  • @WeDieYoung1991 Yes, hippies tend to protest every fucking thing in the world. N'aw, is that all you can think of? Poor you getting angry because he's losing. I don't think you understand the meaning of a hipster now do you Mr.Long Hair...

  • @WeDieYoung1991 Q104.3 has pretty good stuff.

  • meravigliosa

  • In Australia, her counterpart would be Jimmy Barnes.

  • Janis is the best! I'm 12 and I don't like music these days!! This is pure talent!!

  • i hate music these days

  • @kobyrules1234 me too!

  • @CallieAnn111 You're a prick for spreading the germ of age speak. I HAte you so much

  • @ToxicMayo8 What? I'm just saying I like Janis Joplin, and it's not usual for a 12 year old to.

  • @CallieAnn111 but i can understand any backlash..what they are saying is...who cares? it's awesome that you like great music, but some people that post comments like yours are trying to pass yourself off as cool people because of what you listen to, like it's some sort of identity for you...that's what may offend people

it's nice that you listen to good stuff instead of crap..but is that who you are?

  • @banklikefrankwhite1 Yes it is who I am. I'm just saying my generation doesn't appreciate the music without auto tune and still have a great voice. And these days any jackhole with a computer can make a William Hung sound good.

  • @CallieAnn111 trust me i know...when my niece is blasting the local top 40 station, i sometimes have suicidal thoughts...it hurts me that bad....then i gotta go back and listen to an artist like this to regain my sanity, and put the box cutter back in the tool box

  • @CallieAnn111 is it? Well I'm only 2 months old and I love this shit.

  • @ElvisLivesUpstairs Haha okay :)

  • @CallieAnn111 And who says kids don't know sh*t.

  • @p165711 Hahaha!

  • @CallieAnn111 you were brought up well. very well. welcome to the 'I was born in the wrong generation' group. :)

  • @iWalkOnU Thankk youu :) Is the group on Facebook?

  • @CallieAnn111 haha i made that up, but yeah actually there are a few :)

  • @iWalkOnU Oh, okayy :)

  • @CallieAnn111 Lolwut? I bet you've never listened to a full album of hers, kid. As well, there is good shit out there, you just need to get off your ass and look.

  • @CallieAnn111 JANICE IS A PURE TALENT IM 1 AND I HATE YOU! :*

    janis <3 <3

  • @CallieAnn111 ikr u should watch WoodStock (make sure u watch it on a channel like Vh1 cause its rated R so they have to block out a lot of stuff) me and my grandma share CDs xD

  • @CallieAnn111 ya i'm 12 but ppl mistake me 4 a 14 teen year old

  • Who sings the versions which is very similar to Janis but not quite the same, anyone know what Im talking about?

  • @Lawen78 .. Nazareth, Dana Fuchs

  • @Lawen78 is it melissa etheridge ?

  • @KellianStar Thabks!

  • Nicely done. Thank you for honoring such an amazing artist!

  • I saw her in Seattle in 69 or 70? Played at Sic Seattle Stadium home of the Glacier Pilots. The next concert would be Jimi Hendrix.

  • what a tragic end to unbelievably beautiful talent
