I do, my grandfather was not only a pilot but a pow. My grandmother was a schoolteacher who had to flee with her baby boy tucked in a pillowcase. Many people in Germany didn't have a choice on political party. If you were young you were a soldier. Don't think for a second there was a choice.
@ KarenJadeGirl and all the others who enjoy bashing and stereotyping Germans. Unless any of you are German or had grandparents/family who fought in the war, you really know nothing about the German perspective or the history behind it. I'm not saying it was right what they did but unless you know people who were German and were there, you have little right to bash them relentlessly
There are some good lessons about war in this segment - one, when someone is chasing you and they're going to catch you, hit back. Secondly, stay away from cats in combat zones. Ironic that everyone prob wanted to forget WWII at this time, but it provides for endless dramatic treatment . Turning yourself into a rabbit to get away is awesome. This movie would've been a permanent classic without the awful musical segments, and the long animated sequences. This segment is awesome.
@RepIayMediaCatcher Fräulein (literally, "little woman" or "little Mrs.") is the German language honorific previously used for unmarried women, comparable to Miss in English. Fräulein is the diminutive form of Frau, which was previously reserved only for married women. Since the 1970s, Fräulein has come to be used less often, and was banned from official use in Germany in 1972 by the German Minister of the Interior
You know I think you raise a very valid point. I personally don't know German but in many war films (such as the Longest Day) I have watched I know they are saying more words than what the subtitles provide. It's unforunate they only give the jist of what they've been saying in films.
aw, this one doesn't have the translation on what the germans were saying, course...the only translation i remember from this is "it looks like a witch" or something like that
The Nazi's are so terribly grubby in this movie. XD Poor guys must've been to busy to wash - they're not particularly evil here either. But that's probably because it's disney.
@DragonEyedThief Well, yes. There were nazis who were guilty of terrible wartime atrocities, and there were those whose only real crime was joining and fighting for the wrong political party.
@Karenjadegirl Completely true. My comment about them not looking particularly evil in the film was more about how the movie industry often portrays them.... not an overarching comment on actual Nazi's. Hence the Disney comment. At least I think it was.... it was a few years ago.
@DragonEyedThief Mmm hmm, yeah. This is Disney, so of course it's not going to be like "Schindler's List" *Shudders* and these guys portrayed here are working on fighting/invading England rather then mass genocide in Poland. I have a feeling even *they* would be shocked and horrified at Amon Goth.
The dream starting at 2:51 always haunted me. Whenever I hear "Bedknobs and Broomsticks," this railway dream sequence is the first thing that comes to my mind.
1:58 They talk about a machine gun at the bridge 2:25 "Hey you rascal, stay here!" 2:40 "bring the people up to the castle!" 3:08 -"Go on, cut all the cables!" -"Im about to do it already" ...-"There is somebody!" -"where?" 3:55 "yes... yes... everything is fine here ... how many? 4:39 Wats that? Come! "You stupid thing, look what you have done!" 7:15 -"rabbit pepper, This will become a nice meal!" -"Idiot! do you want to wake up all the people?
Totally agree. Even though they used to freak me out it was my favourite bit of the whole film. And i loved it when she is on the broomstick with the Union Jack tied on.
1:29 - I figured it out! Megaupload was taken down by these Nazis!

This invasion force is really laid back. For a bunch of Germans on British soil, they sure lack quite a bit of military discipline.

1:58 They talk about a machine gun at the bridge

2:40 "bring the people up to the castle!"
