Chinese has a saying "one cent of money, one cent of goods". You get what you pay for. Chinese companies made stuff with strict specifications dictated by American companies. So if American companies wants cheapo goods and trying to save money by using lead paint, well, you can probably find some small companies in China who will break the laws for you. All items entering US are subject to custom inspection. It's their jobs to inspect. If they can't, how do they stop terrorists acts?

Most of the factories are owned by Chinese. It's called subcontracting. US companies subcontract Chinese compnies to make the stuff for them. For example, Ipod is assembled by a chinese company called Foxconn.

Chinese has a saying "one cent of money, one cent of goods". You get what you pay for. Chinese companies made stuff with strict specifications dictated by American companies. So if American companies wants cheapo goods and trying to save money by using lead paint, well, you can probably find some small companies in China who will break the laws for you. All items entering US are subject to custom inspection. It's their jobs to inspect. If they can't, how do they stop terrorists acts?

So long as they're employing American workers in the US, paying taxes, supporting local charities and associations, and attracting more American businesses to supply them, I have no problems with them sending a fraction of the profits to Japan, one of America's most important allies. I just want them to use that money to continue to import our beef and steel (as Japan is now the biggest buyer of American beef - as the grandson of an American farmer, I'm happy).

If you want more American goods, be prepared for drastic pay cuts. There is no way American workers can compete with Chinese workers making thirty cents an hour.
Secondly, understand that American companies moved their plants to China, not the other way round. If Walmart cannot profitably manufacture in the States, do you think anyone else can?
