@DJH47 Let me guess, you played the European/PAL version? Being 50 Hz, instead of 60 Hz a la NTSC, it would be played at a slower speed than what you are hearing now. This was a common difference between PAL and NTSC versions of Genesis games. I'm sure it could be fixed, but probably wasn't worth the trouble.
I like how it gets more, what's the word, "epic" towards the end as if you're in a someone desperate struggle to just finish.

@mobius1aic This game was deliberately meant to have slower funkier music in the PAL release.
SEGA didn't optimize it on purpose, means it's just as normal as the NTSC release. There is nothing to fix.
DJH47 is right, even if this is the original speed. It's WAY too fast.
