  • you speak very well, good use of vocabullary and pronunciation. you should have your own talk show.

  • people need to get over that good hair mentality all hair is good hair as long as you know how to take care of it regardless of what texture it is!!!!!

  • I never knew black people put so much work into their hair!

  • I agree! A woman should NEVER BEG a man to marry her. If he wants to spend the rest of his life with her he WILL ask!!!

  • I agree with this video. Love it. Like your personality. I am subscribing.

  • Thanks so much!

  • lol i love your videos you are so entertaining

  • Thank you!

  • my daughter will never get a relaxer and that is something that i told her dad i said don't worry about doing her hair. I'm taking care of all that

  • OOH! I remember that woman perming her 3 year old!! I was soooo mad! There is NO EXCUSE to perm a toddler's hair! Their hair is naturally soft and even if it is not, they don't have long hair and you can put little piggly tails or whatever the hell random thing you want and it won't look a mess. That is so much stress on the babyy... all that crying and then the self-esteem punch that she has to go through that shit to be beautiful...

and her sister is telling her this... I can't get over that

  • oh girl, that is pretty abusive and the girl's texture wasn't even that damn course and thick. damn she was 3 her mom was retarded

  • Hmm some people naturally have "nappy brillo pad" hair and they embrace their texture just fine without chemically altering it.

  • Girl you are so crazy. I bust out laughing here in my office when you said "anti-nap." Shaunte1 has a video on the history of good hair. She pretty much sums up why Blacks felt the need to imitate the European beauty standard. Check it out, it's good. :)

  • lol @ anti -nap.. :)

  • Gurl tell the truth tell the truth!!

  • lol "antinap"

  • I hav a 4 yr old, whose hair is soooo uneasy 2 comb, I'm not gon lie about it. My grannie sed mine was da same. I refuse 2 put a perm n it tho, I b talkin 2 myself like, "damn, wat am I gon do?" but I NEVA let her kno wat I'm thinkin. I tried lotions, greases, conditioners. I dont care about it lookin silky, I'm just concerned wit it not bn manageable. I also hav a 2 yr old dat has curly/wavy hair(lot of peopl call it good) but it aint "good" wen dat shit is hard 2 comb 2. LOL

  • you gotta use a wide toothed comb and always comb from the BOTTOM to the top. NOT the top to the bottom. also, spray the ends of her hair with pure water (not mixed with anything) to soften it up a bit so it doesn't hurt her when you're combing it. You can also get her kinky twists. they're cute and not painful at all. hope i helped you..

  • I comb from bottom to top, & wen its wet? OMG! lol I'ts worse, seriously! I just went thru wit my flat irons a lil, it helped some. I'm gonna try doing som kinky twists 2. Thanks 4 the advice.

  • I apologize i didn't see this answer and the rest of the conversation but like I said though, cornrows and life xxxdumbaccountxxx suggested, twists are pretty bomb. they are easy to make and help keeping the hair from tangling much. where I come from, we have styles with do with thread and it relaxes/stretches/elongates the curls and makes combing easier. i wish i could point to a source so you can know more about it but maybe googling would help.

  • also, hard water by itself can be hurtful to the hair so mixing with conditioner or veg. glycerin could help instead of just using water when detangling. hope this helps a little bit. sorry if i'm being repetitive, haven't read all your post.

  • The easiest way to comb through natural hair is when its wet/damp and has conditioner on it. Make sure you use a wide tooth comb or a Denman brush (or a brush similar to it) to comb and detangle your daughters' hair. As for styling, twists are pretty simple to do. Hope that helps.

  • I'm gonna shop around 4 that brush. I flat ironed it a lil, which helped. I'm gonna do her som kinky twists, 2 help it grow (& keep me from havin 2 do it EVERY morning) Thanks 4 the tips 2! :)

  • If you can manage her hair when it's wet and braid it on a weekly basis, I think that would help. I've been natural most of my life and every saturday my mum would wash our hair, moisturize it and then braid it in different cornrows, braids and thread hair styles. we would keep it in until the following saturday. sometimes we would wear it out on fridays after school until wash day on saturday, basically our hair grew very healthy, thick and long. combing hair while wet and conditioned is key.

  • yeah the girl in the audience had AMAZING hair...and so did Kelly...how can you not love beautiful hair like that!!

  • i got my first relaxer when i was 3. i begged my mama because i saw the just for me commercial. Yesterday i turned 19 and i have officially grew out my relaxer and i believe now i think im going to leave the relaxer alone. Watching tyra and seeing the ignorance of the women with relaxers made the decision for me.

  • Good for you! I have been natural for almost 2 years and I love it. I have really coarse hair and it is easily manageable. It took a few months for me to learn what I was doing, but the end result...amazing!

  • only a month a go i did flat ironed my hair and my hair was super silky, "i had the white girl flow"(how stupid is that comment ppl) without chemicals but i don't do it a lot is damaging

BLACK HAIR DOES NOT SUSTAIN THIS MANY AGRESSIONS, RELAXIN FLAT IRONS

Black ppl should get over this complex it's getting ppl crazy

the only thing i did when i was young was braids and i luv it

white ppl don't really care if our hair relaxed or not and i don't care too

    BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL

  • When that kid hits 20years old she's not gonna have hair

I think black women don't understand how bad is a relaxer

but... do whatever u feel is right for u

My hair is natural almost all my life, i'm 23,i only had 1 year or less of relaxed hair and it was a disaster

Once my hair was relaxed it was breaking so much

My hair is an afro but not kinky by any meanings the

only problem it's length, it's super Big and takes a lot care but i'm used and so was my mom(my mum has curly hair, she's mixed)

  • I have seen the show and...

IT MAKES ME SAD AND ANGRY

BUT I KNOW AND YOU KNOW REALITY IS EVEN WORST

  • I feel what you are saying girlie... It is not so much straight hair I don't like... it's the whole ideology behind it I don't like... that natural hair needs to be "fixed."

  • I agree. My grandmother told me that I need to "do" my hair and I was insulted.

  • You are just so gorgeous, you really are...so elegant and sexy!

    Nothing like Barbie!

    Menelik Charles

    London

  • Thanks so much!

  • I was appalled at the woman who had a biracial baby because she would have better hair. How awful!

  • i kno and the child looked str8 up black and her hair was still "poofy" as that child called it.

  • Right! I thought I was the only one confused. In my mind I was just like, "little girl...hush."...it just goes to show though, that over time, black people can be so precise on how to pinpoint a strand of a hair's curl pattern and say a slightly-slight is an understatement in this little girls case-less curled strand is "better." Wonder what G-d thinks about all of this...He must weep.

  • I agree, it's really sad.

  • Thanks girl, and I just want to tell you, I adore your accent. I know you must get tired of peoples saying that but hey...the grass is always greener, what can I say :D

  • seriously. he/she is probably shaking his head

  • Exactly!

  • yup. That child had the most poofy hair on the panel! Too bad she has a dummy for a mommy. But I have no doubt that as she gets older, life will teach her a thing or two.

  • That was very sad, talk about self hatred.

  • Great comments. And I totally agree with you on the relationship advice/ "being on the same page".

So many women don't understand how men approach marriage. Timing is everything.

  • You are right about timing, so right...

  • I agree.

  • Some mothers are LAZY that's why they relax their daughters hair at such young ages.

  • Yeah and some just think it's the right thing to do.

  • What was that you said @ 2:14? Im taking notes lol.

  • Qhemet's cocoa tree detangling ghee lol

  • AMEN!!!! That cream is da bomb!!!

I loooove this video!!! did you show it to Qhem?

  • No I have not lol!!!!!!!!!

  • "anti-nap" lol

    :-D

  • I'm serious she is. She doesn't want to see any indication of a nap.

  • That is exactly what I was thinking. They need to be an example to the kids, how are they supposed to like their hair if the parents and people like Tyra don't wear their hair natural.

  • Nope, weavealicious all day everyday lol!

  • Very good points on both topics!

    Shalom & Blessings!

  • Thank you!

  • I have too much to say about that Tyra episode and I just dont even feel like going into it.

Anyhoo just had to tell u you are soooo pretty!

Gotta give props to my fellow darkskinned sistas :)

  • Thank you so much, I really appreciate that!

  • Girl do we have the same grandmother? lol

  • LOL!

  • I thought the show had no point...and why wasn't there ane equal number of naturals and relaxed women? She never talked about the pros and cons of being either relaxed or natural, and the title was just dumb "good hair" It should have been titled something about African-American women and their hair....just saying...lol And the girl with the white girl swing was a trip, being relaxed she can't wash it everyday like the white girls, and the other chic's weave was just wrong. the kids were cute!

  • I agree with you. What really tripped me out was the black mother of the biracial child and that little girl said that "bad hair" was poofy. I was like, um boo, your hair is poofy! It annoys me when people pass ignorance down to their children and the show didn't do much to dispel the ignorance. There definitely should have been more naturals on the show to let both sides of the hair spectrum be represented.

  • i agree. Good hair to me is taken care of hair. So if you properly take care of and manage your hair & it shows that you do, then I believe you are fine. So true, the show should have shown info regarding pros & cons for both sides so both sets of sistahs can see how to appreciate their hair better. Many relaxed sistahs can benefit from info on lhcf & many naturals can benefit from info on forums like nc & so on as well as utube for both. Too bad that didn't happen.

  • I agree with your definition of good hair.

  • Tyra Banks is a pandering joke. I just love her blond lace front wigs and weaves.

  • Wow lol

  • I can't say more than "neshasims " just said...that explains me to the T!!! Me AND my 3 sisters...and I am proud to say that 2 of us are now NATURAL SISTAS!!!! YAY!!! My other sis is going natural in July.. Anywho I just really want to take time to THANK YOU ALL on Youtube because like

neshasims said I would have NEVER known about natural hair without you all THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU LADY!!!!! IM SO GLAD TO BE NATURAL NOW!!!! I can't believe how soft my hair is now im sorry i waited

  • Congratulations on your natural journey!

  • Re: relationships...I agree about a person being ready. If you are ready to marry and he is not, YOU ARE NOT COMPATIBLE. It's just best to move on. You are not on the same path. It's sad when women feel that they have to trick the man into proposing. I know someone who did that to a man. Imagine marrying someone that you had to manipulate and getting it thrown up in your face down the road? or worse yet, putting your life on hold & waiting forever hoping that he may propose. What a waste.

  • I agree, it is a waste. Time you can't get back...

  • Brown Barbie - that just some shit tyra cooked up - She always have some negative shit on her show about black people - Every body black dont want to be white and everyone black dont hink white people look better - But - see shows like that does more damage then good

  • I don't think the show did a lot of "good" persay because it basically showcase a few black people who make horrible decision regarding their children's hair. If the show would have focused more on how TO take care of black children's hair, instead of what NOT to do, I think more would have been gained from the show. Those women were not given much information to make them change their ways.

  • There should have been discussion about what a relaxer is, what chemicals are included, how it can be damaging etc... Also, giving style ideas, product suggestions etc... for the parents. Oh well...

  • There was too much focus on ignorance, and not enough focus on enlightenment.

  • did u see homegurl at the end that was torn on whether to go natural or not...dude made her hair dry as hell! Also I think she had insecurity issues anyway, I bet u anything she goes back to weave.

  • Relationship re-evaluation good pts. I don't like the concept of don't change anything, fine as they are. For either side. For women, and possibly men as well, it's like your saying "I'm a piece of trash and maybe this person will pick me up off the ground one day" It's just sad. For either gender to go through this kind of thing. Fear & poor self-esteem, fear about your own ability to judge/gauge a person & situation makes u stay in a bad place for you sometimes. But it doesn't help.

  • I agree about fear. I think fear is an emotion that people allow to drive a lot of their decisions.

  • I saw the Tyra show and was puzzled as to why the mother of the little girl with long hair (Kalaysia) ,allows her to got to school with her hair out. I think that if she's gonna keep her daughter's hair that length, she should maybe put it up in a little bun, put it in some pony tails, or just cut a few inches off. I don't see how the mother could know that her child's hair is being literally pulled out and continue to style it the same, just so everyone can see how long it is.

  • Yeah, personally I wouldn't want my daughter to wear her hair down with it being that long. It would be braided up.

  • I agree with you whole-heartedly! I don't agree with perming a 3 year olds hair. And don't get me started on the lady who was having her 8 year old's hair weaved!!!!

That entire show just had me pissed OFF!!!

  • Yep, it was high on the pissivity meter.

  • i honestly think my mom permed my hair around 4 or 5...i dont remember, and she really doesnt either. i never understood what nappy hair was. i thought our hair grew straight. i thought perms were just something black ppl did because we were different. i had been getting synthetic braids since like age 4 or 5 also. thank God that when i got older i realized how wrong this is and my m other truly didnt realize it back then...but she does now

  • That's good that she knows now.

  • That mother perming the 3 yrs hair is really abusing the child not to mention the one who relaxes and weaves the 8 yr old daughters hair. They are just downright lazy.

  • Yeah, I have never seen an 8 year old with a sew in. SMH...

  • I agree!!! No to relaxers!!!

It's just hair slavery, heck naw!

  • Lol @ hair slavery

  • The mother perming her three year old daughter's hair broke my heart! I have a two year old niece and I be ON my sister about her hair! LOL, I buy her hair products (To save shipping for my sis! Where she lives, she doesn't have the best kind of hair product selection for her baby!) and I ingredient check whenever I buy something my sister wants to try for my niece's super curly and kinky hair!

  • You're a good auntie :)

  • omg i saw that.

UGH!'some of those parents were crackheads.

  • Lol!

  • My niece's mother has always blow dried her hair since she was like 2 or 3. I NEVER liked that. Now that my niece is 4, she blow dries AND flat irons her hair--but always puts it in ponytails. Yet still...I hate it.

But the least I can say is: at LEAST she's not throwing chemicals in her hair every month!!! I hate that my niece never sees her natural texture...but I'd hate it WORST if she had to live so young with a relaxer.

Her Mom's excuse is: it's easier for HER to manage the hair.

  • On top of that....her Mom is a HAIR STYLIST!!!!! Whyyyyyyyyyyyy can you call your self a hair stylist of ethnic hair....and NOT know how to manage our real hair textures?????

And of course, her Mom is one of those Mothers that do not like to be told "what" to do (and how to do it)--they take it very offensively. I just hope that once my niece is grown (@ 18yrs), she looks at my beautiful healthy natural hair...and asks questions. I'll take it from there....

  • Yeah, hopefully your niece will appreciate your hair when she gets older.

  • omg a three year old with relaxed here....thats CRAZY!!!!!!

  • That it is.

  • I hope the child will be ok .

This is just wrong...childrens scalp are sensitive and can be affected easily.

  • Thanks for adding the song info :-) THREE YEARS OLD?!?!?!?!? The mother never put forth any effort. Three year old hair is still somewhat soft no matter what the texture is. WOW is all that I can say about that.

  • You're welcome :)

  • Wait, BlaqueIndigo was on there!!!! I LOVE her Channel!! Great Vlog :)

  • She was in the audience. She didn't talk though.

  • what?! A 3 year old with a relaxer! oh no no no

  • Yes, a hot mess!

  • I think that... from way back when, generations ago our hair had to be tamed, just like our behavior, we couldn't be free...our hair couldn't be free...In it's natural state...permed hair is almost like the good Lil negro to me... people C natural hair as... like Uh Oh black power is in the room! It's never looked at as healthy vs. unhealthy like curly coiled hair is the dark side..LOL textured hair is cute and it doesnt mean you starting a revolution...ya Dig LOL

  • I dig lol!

  • I totally agree with you when you said that when a man is ready to be married or have a serious committed relationship it doesn't take them long. They just kind of decide and take that step....I agree!!

  • Fa sho!

  • I was talking to someone about this today. We were wishing that they had some natural hair divas who were really rockin their naturals(not locs) and some real natural hair professionals like miss jessies or khemit - so that the natural hair side of things could have been spoken on intelligently and positively instead of a whole show about ignorant stereotypes for the most part.

  • Yeah, more loose natural haired representation would have been nice. I think it should have been 2 parts.

  • I love your spirit!! Your always on point!

  • Aw, thank you!
