Just a question: what is an urban laborer going to do with land? He doesn't know how to till and sow. Alot of times MST just takes the land and sells it- sometimes even back to the people they expropriated it from. I don't think anyone disagrees that agrarian reform needs to take place. Where land is really unused the MST does not want to go! And do you know why? Because the MST wants to keep close to asphalted roads and cities. Analyse where most of the MST "assentamentos" are located at! Besides, they do not know how to manage a farm and even if they would know they have no money to invest in the land they become. You are completely right! I just would like to add that most of the so called "rural workers" have never worked in the countryside in their lives. They neither know how to plant nor to raise animals. They are solely unemployed people from the poor suburbs of Brazilian cities. These people have been incapable to manage their own lives so far and will never be capable to manage rural properties.

If you let government's plans take their course, no one will know how to work the land! Then how will you eat, when some virus destroys massive undiverse fields of GMO's? The "right to own" is a fundamental right in the Brazilian Constitution and no individual is allowed by the Law to take it away from others. This concerns all kinds of properties and not only rural land. "Another world", as you wrote, has to be built legally. Law and Politics are completely different fields.

And many intentionally aged, forged deeds, which split up land, that was acquired by conquest, not by fair trade. If you own stolen property then you really have no right to it anyway.
