  • Which 4 'TOTAL PRICKS' didn't like this?

Great post. Fuck thumbs down voters, stick to Duran Duran you cunts.

  • A picture of your fantasy a picture of your misery

  • @bonehead6045 Sorry to correct you but its "a picture of your fantasy a victim of your misery" :)

  • @BadBoiDaz08Wolves It´s ok, thanks.

  • when The Jam went to number 1 with Going Underground they sold more singles BEFORE ANYONE HAD HEARD A NOTE than many "bands" do in their careers now. Mind you now the radio stations plug a song for 2 months before its release and everyones sick of it come release day lol

  • When I'm emperor you'll all be issued with 'Complete Jam' dvd's and those that fail the subsequent exam will be sent to sinister reJamification camps then tattooed with the motto:

Tough Love For a Groovier Society

  • You certainly have posted an impressive collection of Jam videos on YouTube, nicely varied and all high quality and probably the best Jam video collection I have seen by far. I suspect I was close to the last person to know--until I saw this video, I didn't know Bruce Foxton sang lead on "David Watts" for much of the song.

  • WELLER AND DAVIES!

    DREAM TEAM........

My band THE MIGHTY FURTLES do a cover of DAVID WATTS! HAVE A LISTEN! ALL comments appreciated....

    cheers boys.....

  • saw them at the rainbow in london in 79 was amazing.

  • Private Hell has always been one of my favorite Jam songs. Weller always worked himself into a frenzy when performing it live. His lyrics and the Jam's performance were amazing.

  • j'y étais !!!! Baltard

    première partie : Madness !

    et ensuite : POW !!!!!!

    merci pour cette vidéo !

  • I was there! Soooo many years ago... but it still feel so gooooood!

  • Imagine being at that gig....unfortunately that's all most of can do...just imagine. This vid also shows what a great singer Paul Weller is IMO, as the constrast btw Bruce's singing and when Paul comes in.

  • who has the whole concert on dvd?

  • Agree with lots of the sentiments below. The Jam were very special to a lot of people.Still are.

I was lucky enough to have seen them live just twice. I travelled from my native Belfast to see them in Edinburgh (April 82) and Wembley Arena , same year. Still love them to this day. Very special . (my old band, Jam Pact, paid our own little tribute to them. You can hear us doing 'David Watts' and a few others here on Youtube. Live on Belfast's U105 radio station back in 2006)

    Long live The Jam

  • Being at a JAM gig was something very special. I wish I could go back in time!

  • Not watched a live jam video in ages. Been watching alot of beatles lately, and when you come back to watch this you really see just how great the jam were on stage.

  • Bands today can only dream about being as intense as this....they aren't fit to wipe The Jam's arse

  • esta hablando del fasooo!!

  • REMEMBER WATCHING THEM IN '82 AND 'THINKING' THERE ISN'T A 3 PIECE BAND TO MATCH THE JAM... THEN SAW THE POLICE LITTLE TIME AFTER ... THEN I 'KNEW THERE WASN'T A 3 PIECE BAND LIKE THE JAM!!!! Weller is just a Ledend .

  • I am With You 100% there holysmoke45!

The Jam were an Amazing Band!

Weller Might not Like to admit it but This was the Time Of his Life that He was at his Best along with Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler!

They got Me Through some Tough Times!

  • Great cover by a great band!

  • Secret Affair pIay their onIy Iondon show @ The Camden Centre, Kings X, May 30

    tickets @ see tickets

  • "put your hands together for the best fu**ing band in the world-the jam" Would bellow John weller, cue buckler counting in the first song, foxtons pounding bass and weller ripping into a song together.

The jam had started, for a cpl of hours nothing else mattered, the adrelenin wud be pumping thru your veins,no band cud match them live,if u never saw, then im sorry for you, this band CUD play.Everyone was like minded, this is what mattered.has there ever been a better song writer than weller?

  • I agree with you whole-heartedly weller is still the best song writer. The Jam were an AMAZING group live saw them twice, always regretted not seeing them more.Been no-one to touch 'em since..

  • I couldn't Put it any Better currypot1965!

The Jam were a Huge Part of My Youth/Life! I listened To everthing They Played read every Word they Spoke and Will always Thank Them For Getting me Through some Shitty Times!

This Was when Weller Truly Sparkled and Nothing he Did afterwards Came anywhere Close!

    I Regret Never Seeing Them!

  • shut up,i was at this concert,,london mod

  • the jam ,brilliant power!!!!

  • Private hell is a total social comment on late 60's early 70's home life...it aint rocket fuckin science...but it's still as inciteful and clever as fuck... The Jam were my high school band...no one could touch them...if ya wanna fight about it...outside now

  • Good point mrwilks72,BRITISH Icons Pure Quality !!!!!!

  • the jam, probably the finest musicians in the world, i use the term musicians because are any of todays bands musical????? maybe 1 or 2

  • @mrwilks72 Kasabian and Arctic Monkeys that is literally it.

  • hey i was at this actual concert,,if it was the one done in a circus bigtop tent due to vandels burning the original venue a few weeks before.i was a freash faced 16year old mod from london, best concert i have been to in my entire life(and ive seen a few)!!lots of fights with the french skins and their shitty cops!!

the jam were an awesome band to see live, pure passion and energy, the songs weller wrote were sublime,no contest with the beatles,no brainer,

  • hey currypot i was at that concert to f brilliant, hope you were not one of the cockneys givin it the bigun all the way over on our coach.then hiding under the seats when it went of after the gig. were u were u???

  • glad to read, that for you, like me, this stuff still means so much, long time ago now.

  • Not at all m8,im a londoner yeah and i remember the big rucks with skinheads and police after the gig,,i got on me coach, then we all pilled of and got stuck in,i got a few wallops lol,i was nearly 16 at the time, now 43 and you know what,to this day that was the best gig i been to,,ever, and ive seen a fair amount since.

  • Kinks and the Jam both rule . Weller is the modfather and always will be .

  • This is awesome. Vintage The Jam! Shear heaven!

  • Theres no other British artist who lived past the age of fourty who has integrity like Paul Weller in my humble opinion. Im not an old fart either im 26 - I just think he has never sold out & never will - Noel Gallaghers a bit like him - They have a 'Not bothered about the bollocks atitude' I mean look at another major songwriter who came about the same time as weller 1977 sort of - Sting. Now look at the difference between those two!?

  • Totally agree. To take the point even further - what artist, Brit or American, has been as relevant as a musical creator/performer 30+ years later as when they started?? "As is Now" has songs as good as anything hes done. Granted all 3 of his incarnations have varied greatly, but he has never been afraid to reinvent himself instead of resting on his original laurels. Beatles-hardly, Stones-sucked for 20 years, Neil Young - Love him but hasn't done anything really good in 20 years.... NO ONE!!

  • When did the Beatles rest on their laurels...also, they broke up...what the hell are you talking about?

  • Did I say the Beatles rested on their laurels? I said Weller never did. Bonehead, my point was, 30 years after the Beatles started, were any of them doing anything worth a shit? Nor 20, EVEN 10 years!! Take a look - Lennon - please, McCartney - nothing worth listening to, Ringo - yeah right... maybe Harrison - but he was the only one with any talent anyway.... Weller is a better songwriter than all of them put together.... OK, here it comes.....

  • John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band is better than any Jam release. Any Beatles CD, Rubber Soul and on, is better than any Jam release as well. I've heard some Style Council/solo stuff, I don't like it.

I don't think even Weller would agree with your claim that he's a better songwriter than all the Beatles put together. Weller has written some GREAT songs, but an amazing amount of filler as well. Can't compare him to the Beatles...but now we're just arguing over our opinions of quality, so I'll stop.

  • You're right - we are just arguing now, which is stupid since I just came on here to give Weller some props. So why don't you go back to your sheep mentality and listen to your sheep music and stay off Weller music....

  • That's right. Any music you don't like is sheep music.

By the way, does your jaw ever hurt from sucking Weller's cock so much?

  • i agreee entirely

the beatles fucking suck.. save a few songs

  • strummer....

  • Away From the Numbers

  • Legendary band and great song altough my favorites are Going Underground, Town Called Malice and Eaton Rifles.

  • weller lay your guns and give us one last treat....

  • Every single Jam song is an absolutely brilliant work of art. There is no other band quite like them.

  • Agreed....Paul was never the same after them. They seriously rocked - awesome songs...

  • the kinks were fantastic they were better than the jam ffs

    wow ingrate

  • gotte agree with h8creator he hits it on the head kinks shoudnt be in the same breathe with the jam.ray davies thats pretty funny pauls the shit kid

  • Fabulous, really one of the great bands ever!! Long live the Mods

  • I suppose you can't go far wrong if you choose a song like that to cover, but they still don't match up to the Kinks.

Maybe what they really meant was "I wish I could be like Ray Davies".

  • Doubt it mate, they wrote a few themselves...... and their own songs are still being covered now cos the Jam are class. Kinks were class too.

  • The Kinks dream of being half the band that The Jam was. Ray Davies doesn't even compare to Paul Weller. The Kinks are one of the most over rated bands of all time, while The Jam remains one of the most under rated.

  • way way underrated...so's style council..solo stuff past stanley road has been a bit overhyped as well

  • agree, h8creator. altough I like The Kinks really much, The Jam is waaaaaaaay better.

  • If it wasn't for the Kinks you wouldn't have the Jam, or at rather the Jam you would have wouldn't be as good! Everyone knows that Weller listened to the Kinks a *lot* during his burnout between "This Is The Modern World" and "All Mod Cons". Saw Ray Davies a few years back at the Royal Albert Hall. Awesome showman. Have seen Weller live too but he wasn't as inspiring. Don't get me wrong, I like him (check out my id, for example) but you must admit Davies has had a big influence on him.

  • It is a true story that there would be no Jam without The Kinks, though when I listen to those old records I can not determine what the hype was about. In retrospect, I cannot even figure out what the appeal of The Kinks was for me as a teenager in the 80's. To this day The Jam's catalog is still comes across as fresh and energetic, retaining the vibrancy that made it so special to begin with.

  • Most of the "Greats" have been inspired by others that's why they are so good, it's what you do with your inspiration that matters.

  • From a programme called 'Chorus'

  • my 8 year old son loves david watts!!!

    great track!!

  • what a fucking band!

  • great stuff .... first ever headline band i saw at the age 9 (1978)little boys soldiers was brilliant and they started with this is a modern word...later they started with david watts --piranhas supported

  • Paul bruce & rick at there very best !

  • Residents and The Jam? Does it get any better than that?

  • yeah victoria coach station coaches stoppin at old kent road to let 100s of mods piss.steam rising!!pullin top bird on coach.british gettin searched before gig, frogs not.givin paul a fag and him sayin have you got a light mate.brits kikin the fuck out of the frog skins after they took the piss.S.E.18 MODS

  • and guess whos hidding between the seats on the bus??

yep the 30 cockneys...still makes me laff

god i hope my kids dont act like we used.........

    still they were bett days

  • o cut a long story short fter a few minor fights insidewe came out to find the coach smashed up and the driver tellin us hes leavin now so get on so we did cos were were well skint by this time.just as hes moving off door opens from outside some frenchies start hitting a girl on the front seat.well thats it the drivers told to stop and we pile of about 10 of us scousers and a couple of brumies and along with loads more brits kick it off to near riot status

  • is this the paris gig that was in a big tent in the middle of paris?? that gig was the best jam gig we ever went to[we must have topped 40 odd gigs back in the day ]i will tell you the story anyway. blagged the train from liverpool to london blagged tube to victoria station bought beer or maybe had beer anyway not sure then found ourselves sharing the bus with about 30 well ard cockneys[ermmmm].

  • Weller pure secondary modern talent... nod as good as a....

  • I went to this show. it was at the Baltard Pavillion to the east. there was loads of trouble. a union jack was thrown on stage. Weller tied it t his microphone nd said 'you french bastards, wheres yr hospitality. classic.

  • bruce has got my shoes on!!!better go check my parker in the loft just in case, saw them at de montfort hall 78/79 I can still hear them now.

  • Great Post!

  • bruce!!!

  • great song, i recomend you listn to the original by the kinks, ray davis one of the best 60s70s song writers quintessentially british and a man who made us great

  • i like having a song of the same name as me

  • bands dont seem 2 have the same pasion or energy as the jam did, ie mcfly, killers, or the morden indi bands thers 100s that r good but the energy is missing for me.

  • the jam. power pop at its finest. saw em live three times. never seen anybody better, before or since.

  • i'm sure it was Paul wiv the flag. we bunked trains there and back. met John. slept in a strange mans kitchen. would'nt swap it for any of the other 35 jam shows i saw.

    classic

  • Nice rendition, Paul Weller & co--now go back and hear the Kinks original!

  • Oh man, this is cool... but the Kinks version (the origionators of the tune) is far better.

  • Private Hell is a brilliant song.

  • Hell yeah! It just sums up how I felt growing up in the late seventies and eighties.

  • Anyone else think that Bruce F is a better singer than Weller?

  • no.

  • His voice has a clearer tonal quality to it, but Weller has the growl and anger characterized by the era.

  • not hard 2 c why they were top of the pile back then

  • the best, full stop.

  • The Jam best band after the Beatles.

    I adore Private Hell

  • Excellent - never seen this clip before.

  • I adore Private hell

  • First Jam song I learnt to play - dead easy mainly Em7

  • fuckin top this!!!! well in laa!!!

  • Smokin' great! I'm sooo glad I saw The Jam back in the day - the band's Chicago Aragon Ballroom show in '80 ('81?) noted on the back of The Jam Live, was absolutely phenomenal.
