Jimmy, thank you for your music. I'll never forget growing up, a foreigner from Colombia in California, feeling out of place. I'll never forget my best friend, a California native, turning me on to you. I'll never forget being deported after 27 years of living in your beautiful country, hitting rock bottom and having to go soul searching(fishing). I'll always be a parrot head, and I'm glad to report that this under 40 victim of fate is living the American Dream south of the equator.
Why are we talking about Bieber on a Jimmy Buffet video? Just listen to the music, close your eyes, and travel to your own personal island. :) Just chill.
for my brother, Steve, on the 10th anniversary of his death and the beginning of his journey on the Forever Rainbow. He lived in Key Largo and loved this song. If you are an alcoholic, please try to get help. If you can't become sober, try to find ways to help your liver and heart. Don't die as horribly as my brother did. The world is less beautiful without the sound of my brother's laughter ... and it would be less beautiful without yours, as well.
I like anything Jimmy put out but my fave was Living and Dying in 3/4 Time. Great album, also A1A was good! Tin Cup Chalice is mine and my husbands song!
I was raised on Jimmy Buffett. Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes was my first album at age 4. Listening to this brings back so many memories.
No one really understands this man's songs unless they're a sailor, or grew up with the background... Sorry. Cheeseburger in paradise is not about mcdonalds or burger king.
@triphip2 The song's actually about him being stuck out at sea when his boat broke down. As soon as he was brought ashore after a very long spell, he went to the first place he could to get a burger. Turned out to be the most poorly made burger ever, but it hit the spot nonetheless. And no, i grew up in boston. Sorry to put a damper on your theory there pal.
As a Keys Kid for the majority of my Life, I'd have to say, YES...it IS about Margaritas and fun. It's also about people who care, water that's clean, stars that are brighter than anywhere else and warm breezes. Why do you want...or expect Jimmy to..."explore the darker side"??? There's enough darkness off the islands.

I really like and appreciate Jimmy Buffett's themes and music, but does he explore the darker side of the tropics? It can't all be margaritas and fun.
this song is mentioned in a book i had to listen to and the book was stupid and the narrator did no justice to jimmy buffet...but this song was the only good thing in that book
@turquoiseskull no will hobbs the books name is changes in latitudes and it sucks a fat one i really wanted to off myself in the class i was in cause it just dragged on
I would greatly appreciate if someone compiled me a list of the best Jimmy Buffett songs. From what I have heard though, this might be impossible because every song I hear is amazing. But please, help? Thanks!
@mrbradize margaritaville, cheeseburger in paradise, changes in latitudes, come monday, barefoot children, last mango in paris, he went to paris, fins, we are the people our parents warned us about, a pirate looks at forty, volcano, one particular harbor, son of a son of a sailor, growing older but not up, take another road, knees of my heart, in the shelter, cowboy in the jungle, the captain and the kid. phew. :D
around 30 or 35 years ago, I heard him sing this in Key West or Key Largo -- to long ago for my memory -- but WOW -- wish I could hear him live today -- was there for Anguilla -- and wish I coud be anywhere he is again

Every year the wife and I break out the grass skirts-coconut bikini tops and spend the weekend at Tampa fairgrounds being kids again. Kinda funny my wife had never really even heard anything except like Margaritaville or a few others and she really died laughin when she saw me break out my grass skirt and coconut bikini top the first time. That was till her first Buffett concert weekend. AHHH....my lil Parrot-Head was hooked when she saw the utter goofiness that makes up the Parrot-Head pack. =)
I grew up with Jimmy Buffett, George Strait, Neil Diamond, etc. But I must say, kids nowadays barely know the Margeritaville song, much less any of his other songs. It makes me sad. Therefore, we must teach our children the magic of this music!!! JIMMY BUFFETT IS AMAZING!
@XneOkiTTyxCyANideX I think it depends where you grow up. I'm from South Florida and every time I go home, I put Jimmy Buffet and The Beach Boys on. This song always makes me think of my dad. Fins makes me think of my first job. And so on. He's classic :)
love to see the comments and gotta say been a lover and player of jimmy and his songs for seems like forever, clicked tonite just to brush up on some of the finer points of the licks...its never the the same and always good ..bless you Jimmy thanks man
No music takes me back to my traveling days of my 20's, 30's and 40's more than Jimmy Buffett. I have played his songs on bus stereos in Sumatra, beach bars on the Kenyan and Australian coast and sailing the Baltic in Sweden. It is the happiest and most carefree music I know of and it transports me back to wonderful times.
@idigyoubaby you sound like you are about my age. i am so depressed that i have never been out of the us except to go to mexico--and now i'm afraid to do that. if i had lots of money i would do what you have done and go outside the box. i keep going to new orleans over and over--it's my fav and second is the great smoky mountains in gatlinburg tennessee. my family comes from dutch and german heritage--a trip to amsterdam would be nice
@Peterhacket6969 -- Homosexuals scare you Pete? Wonder why that is. Actually, there is a whole area of research that indicates that those who demonstrate the most virulent fear/hatred of homosexuals are in reality attempting to mask their own latent homosexual tendencies. What about it, Petey?
