Saw Your Comment on NaturalNews that brought me here - Innovative & great idea Maggie - thank you! We're going to try this with our 3 year old. With H1N1 going around (and likely coming back around with ferocity in winter when Vitamin D levels are low) proactive ideas like this are EXACTLY we need.
Keep in mind that the ability to understand abstract concepts (such as these invisible germans) may not be in place in young children. I've seen kids terrified when presented with material the simply can't understand.
Sometimes getting kids to DO the right thing before they understand WHY is necessary so just teaching them to wash their hands frequently may be all you can do until they are old enough to understand the whys.
Germy Wormy has been introduced to thousands of children at this point with only 1 negative reaction. His mom said he doesn't like Elmo either. In the Germy Wormy video germs are presented in a way that even 2 year olds have understood. I am a firm believer in letting kids know why. The key is how you present the material. After introducing their kids to Germy Wormy, parents are saying they don't have as much of a struggle to get kids to wash their hands because they know WHY they should.
Parents seem so busy nowadays they don;t spend alot of time with kids (if both work)...and often they don;t have alot of energy it seems to keep reinforcing wash hands, cover your mouth when you cough etc...I saved this to show it to my friend who has as six year old daughter like you, as well as a four year old and a toddler. She is an in the moment kind of person who is having alot of trouble enforcing this kind of higene stuff often enough for it to become habit.
Good vid for teaching kids. Kudos to you.

Laboratory confirmed cases in the US:
Two thousand two hundred fifty four (2,254) are infected with the H1N1 virus.
2,254 divided into 40 = 56.35 x 100 = 5635% in just 12 days time. :o)

it should actually be "teach children how not to spread germs" because you can't split an infinitive - "to spread" should always be together

I stand corrected ;-) Thank you!

Wrong, you may split infinitives, according to Oxford. So crystallight67 stands corrected. and you were fine in the first place!

Excellent visuals with the black paint. Looks like a good way to teach kids about how germs are spread.
