damn, i live in reykjavik, and not that far from downtown, and i missed it :( well ,, at least i didnt miss the little girl giant :)thanks for posting this
Well, I love the feeling they generate, drawing me in to an event I know nothing about, and leaving me totally with a situation I want to know more about it all. Was it real, was it invented, does it matter? Enjoy.
There's no question it is, for one simple reason: Physices, Choppers could never possibly move an object THAT fast that heavy, impossible, just good compositing that's all.
'that's all'?? you make it sound so simple. thats why this thing may not be fake, have you any idea the amount of work it would take to fake this? why would they bother? and if it was fake they would have made the films longer and better quality too.
If you want to make a good viral, for a company such as Levis, you make it look as amature as possible, just like someone filmed it on their cameraphone. Makes it look less proffesional and more like a member of the public filmed this. If it was real there would be loads of footage and photographs from loads of sources. This is simply a company exploiting YouTube to get out viral ads. After all it's been seen by over 40,000 people already.
Doesn't matter how light the object is, choppers cannot move that fast with that percision, that simple, watch any video of even the most agile military chopper, it's slow and its acceleration and decelleration is far too slow. And compositing for this is VERY easy, and yes by making it purposly low quality you get to hide all the matte lines. And if 40,000 people saw it, why wasn't it on ANY international news and ONLY brodcast on the internet?
compositing is actually nigh on impossible with bad quality footage, and footage degeneration always looks really fake, if this was shot on a webcam...which it does look like....frame rate depth of field e.t.c searching focus, this would have required a major, major post house to online, if it's VERY easy why don't you make one and post it as a response.... i hate this new generation of kids who think film making is easy becuase they made a holiday video on imovie....
Perhaps you missed my previous post: Doesn't matter how light the object is, choppers cannot move that fast with that percision... Large post house or expensive / time-consuming editing or not, it's physically impossible for such a large and heavy object to move like that, study how choppers move and how the heavy-lifting choppers handle large peices of equipment with percision and incredible slowness. A common knowledge of physics (and the fact there was no news coverage) is the culprit here.
Im amazed there is so much talk about this...I know it is strange, but its crazy to be caught up in all the media hype of it all. Funny that people think that this is not real. Im not sure who was behind it all I know is it was very cool. Not many thing happen in Iceland but this has got to be up there with the best
I don't think it's completely CG. It seems more like a standard-sized manaquin with the helis and such edited in. By making it look amateur, there's more room for error. Greenscreening and such isn't as noticable with low contrast and saturation.
this can't be cg surely? i know a lot is possible with 3d programs but this just looks way too real to be fake. if they can do it in london they can do it in iceland. when was it supposed to have happened? i'm sure there must be more photos of it or press coverage or something...
The proof is in the fact that there isn't any Chinook's in iceland, and if a Chinook was flown to Iceland for that stunt, all major news room in Iceland would have talked about it because that would be major news for us in Iceland. Iceland is a small coutry, you can't hide a Chinook from everyone without the word spreading out.
That's soo cute that you say that. It's fake and the people behind it have publicized that it was fake and done using greenscreening. Wanting to feel important by saying "I was there". How cute :-)
i dont know, it was long time ago, think i was drunk whene i saw this thing on youtube and yes i guess i was trying to feel importand, and thinx for saying im cute, i think i am, im single. ;) but you are at same age as my mom and if a wanted to date a girl at thad age my moms friends are all single so.. :)

yeah... how does this do anything for levis? can barely see a thing....I think it lools more like a street stunt by a theater company, like the elephant one in London...

You obviously know NOTHING about compositing do you

You obviously never used good compositing software with 3D animation renders layed over top live action footage.

too right - who cares if it is fake? IF it's fake then it looks fucking good and the people behind it should proud of their work. either way its cool
