The participant list didn't have specifications about the vehicles or about how they were built, only a list of the drivers and the vehicles they were using.
Rotary can be recognized pretty much only during low rev's, as it has a unique (and bad) sound below 2000-3000rpm.
As the body of the car was a FD3S, I just assumed it was a rotary with a turbo and a quite unique BOV sound. I didn't check out the pits, teams nor the cars at all, just the races.
Rotary? This thing has an SR20 in it and Skyline GT-R based 4wd?

Yeah.
The driver, Arola Harri did a great job driving it.
It's sad that the engine blew up in the semifinals, but hey... Wankel's a wankel. It tends to happen with rotaries.
I still can't get over with that turbo whistle... It's just bizarre!
