  • Girl, my hair is just like yours. My hair gets super dry. DOG DOO DOO lol.

  • YOUR EDGES IS DWN...STOP TRIPPING

  • look like a 4b-c

  • mine is the exact same girl!!!! lol. I use pure Castor Oil! I wet it, part it and twist it. It doesnt give me a "curl pattern" but it does stay conditoned and moist for a long time. Hope that helps, GOOD LUCK and...you and you're hair is beautiful!!

  • LOL,omg this is so refreshing to see. I felt like I was the only one too. You right about them products, like Miss Jessie's and Carol's Daughter I'm sure they are good, but I'm a college student and my budget is squeezed enough. I'm doing good to put anything in my hair lol.

  • Your hair look like a 4a-4b. You must make and take the time to fool around with your hair. That's what every one else does. WORK WITH YOUR HAIR. IT WILL DO WHAT YOU MAKE IT DO! IF YOU TAKE THE TIME TO DO IT. Girl you have beautiful hair. plus you have color in your hair! A.K.A. Chemicals!

  • BEST HAIR VID! (: HAHAHA. LOVE THIS!

  • I THINK YOU ARE LIKE A 4B LIKE ME, JUST KEEP IT MOISTURIZED AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER. YOUR HAIR WILL THANK YOU. PROUD OF YOU SISTER FOR BEING NATURAL AND KEEPING IT REAL, THAT'S WHAT IM LOOKING FORWARD TO DO. IM 5 MONTHS POST RELAXER ALREADY AND CAN'T WAIT TO MAKE IT A YEAR SO THAT I CAN SEE MORE OF MY NATURAL HAIR. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK YOUR DOING GREAT. AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU !!!!!!!

  • wat ever ur hair is dats wat mine is so when u figure it out let me know

  • I love your Eye Shadow!!!

  • I fucking hate cq lool,

  • it looks like 4c???

  • sis, i'm with you with the "5 type", thats wear i think I fall. lol, its cute though.

  • You're a cutie and your hair is thick and beautiful! Don't worry about the curl pattern or comparing it to others. There are sooo many curl patterns and many people have multiple curl patterns. Just keep loving it and doing what works best for it. Trust your own knowledge of your hair and you're right, don't be "a slave" to the products. I'm sure your hair was intact and growing long before you heard of all these recent products for naturals. Hair grows, with or without help. . . =0)

  • "Umm, Umm, I'm Not Fittin' To Pay"

    Too Funny!

  • I like your attitude. Your hair is gorgeous. It is so thick..Keep doing what you doing sistah..

  • I can't even focus on my own curl pattern anymore because I'm so overcome by density. I have a LOT of medium-thin strands. A lot of ladies on youtube have medium-thick to thick hair strands but they don't have as many strands of hair especially around the edges, so their hair jut lays and slicks down. If you look at my vids of my Fantasy Puff, you will see my hair NEVER lays down especially in the front.

  • I was just reading about this on curly nikki. They were talking about how curl pattern isn't everything. There's also density - you may have thicker hair than the people you're watching. I have the same texture as you - mine's in a TWA right now, but when my stuff is longer, it's gonna be just like yours. Everybody can't do every style with the same ease as everyone else, lol.

  • it looks like you went back to 1985 & picked up those products. lol, I didn't know they still made that stuff. Damn, she really whipped out the "stay so fro"

  • i realized a big part of being natural is moisture. it seems to me that you do have a somewhat curly texture. my comb does stay in my hair like yours when i pick it out. you will prolly have to deep condition a lot. i mean i know i have to...lol. i use a herbal essences(twist/curly or hello hydration or long term relationship) it works well for my hair especially for deep conditioning, and then some oil. i may use gel from time to time to lay they front down, but other than that i'm ok.

  • haha youre funny. i was literally just thinking the SAME thing! some ladies saying they are 4a and 4b have springy curls they can run a comb thru. so maybe i have 5,6 or 7a haha

  • Speak the truth about the products girl!!!!

  • That;s the same texture I have

  • @musiclover77able you are right texture isn't 4a or 4c it is curl size and pattern that's the same with 3a 3b 3c. 4a will be small curls or coils usually pen size that will be visibly curly rather it is thick or fine, 4b more zig zag and less curls rather thick or fine, 4c little to no curls rather it is thick or fine. Fine isn't 4c it is just used to describe a person with little to no curls but the hair can be thick or fine.

  • @musiclover77able Perfect explanation. 4a/4b you will see curls, usually pen size coliy's or culrs but you will see the curls. 4c no curls or very little curls to where you will not be able to see them. But she looks like she can be a 4a/4b, especially if she were to define her hair. She could be thinking about 3c is why she is asking the comb question at the end.

  • omg i found someone with my hair!!!!! sigh... i'm just as confused about that whole 4s/b crap. shoot it's aggravating, an i feel u on that kinky curly girl!

  • Your make-up is WONDERFUL ! ! ! :)

    You are TOO CUTE Ma.

    We have the same texture and I think I'm a 4a/4b .

  • my boyfriend says I'm a 7z texture.......lol I'm transitioning now, I'm only 3 1/2 months in......love the video my hair is really small tight ringlets I mean really small tight curls

  • I thought i was a 4b/4c but now im starting to think different. My hair does the exact same thinng.

  • That looks like my hair. Total afro kinky curly. In my youth, if there were conditioners, it would have been great. I'm with you!

  • Lol @ I don't care right now lolololol. I use virgin coconut oil.

  • I think yours in a 4b, my texture looks similar to yours. I definitely don't use aloe vera to smooth those edges down. I bought some EcoStyler today to try out. I definitely can't afford Miss Jessie's etc. There is a video on my page where this woman mixed a bunch of cheap conditioners together and that seemed to work well but she had 4a hair. Anyway! If you ever need help, hit me up! :)

  • I'm glad i found your video...we have about the same texture hair and I was having a hard time figuring out my hair texture...but my hair is curlier when wet...but it gets frizzy and big when it dries...but I have small bunches of ringlets in the middle of my head

  • You are hilarious!!! You had me rolling. I feel the same way about my hair, even though it is not the same as yours... it actually has several different textures and I have no idea what type or types those may be.

As for the moisture, my hair is usually as dry as the Mojave! However, just this past weekend I tried the Glycerin Castor Oil Prepoo treatment using a mixture of 1/3 Glycerin, 1/3 Castor Oil and 1/3 Conditioner (a cheap conditioner is fine... I used Mane-N-Tail).

  • idk if my hair is 4a or 4b either but i hope 4a because my hair looks 4a and 4b at times.

  • I think what people fail to remember is that along with the 4a/4b categories, there are sub categories. It can go from fine to coarse.

  • Girlllllll....I feel you! I think I am a 4b and my hair looks like yours. Im transitioning but have gone natural in the past for a summer look. I was shocked at how kinky and nappy my hair was. I am trying it again now that I just discovered today about all yall on the internet with so much info on natural hair! I will send you a video in the future from one 4a/4b to another!

  • LMAO! at 4:08.....Nice! Well it's been 2 yrs since this vid, let me go find an updated one to see your progress.

  • Lol! You are too funny! Not dog doo doo! Girl your hair is beautiful. Go hit that party.

  • Finnally someone who understands!!

  • ba ha ha ha. dog doo doo. a no poo or even natural shampoos. reality is you need to moisture your hair that will make it less brittle. but good luck its something you will figure out.

  • Please do a video on your makeup techniques -- You are beautiful!

  • Andre walker's hair typing chart only covers curl/wave size. a cottony 4a and a silky 4a are still both 4a also fine medium and thick hair all give it a different look and feel even if the curl size is the same. I love the makeup though and though it is more work to deal with thick beautiful hair like yours is king :)

  • You are too funny. My hair is the same way. I took my hair 1 year after using Carol's Daughter, my hair finally to have a softer texture. I can comb through my hair now when it is wet and wouldn't dare comb it if it wasn't wet! Anyway, you are too funny and too crazy

  • LOOKS LIKE A HAIR STEAMER WOULD WORK WELL ON YOUR HAIR TYPE TO GIVE YOU MORE MOISTURE. THEY HAVE THEM ON EBAY

  • u are not 4c!!!!!!!!! u have 4a/b

  • Girl I feel you! I have your hair and I can't seem to get all these styles that other people with supposedly 4a, 4b, have. I am waiting on some growth and I'm gonna try those two items that you suggested!

  • ok i laughed with the " 4a, 4b? mm mm" xD i know what you mean about the whole figuring out the texture, in the shower do you detangle with a conditioner? i found that it helped to "heavy" my hair down a bit to actually see the curl pattern! try that and see if anything good comes out of that? it worked for me, it might work for someone else!

and dear me, dont try rolling in dog poo haha

  • same exact texture as mine..lol crazy huh. i hate it..lol

  • girl u are too funny. love ur personality and ur hair is beautiful as are u! I am still experimenting with my hair trying to find what works for me. my hair is a really loose curl from an inch above the ear to the other around the back but the crown and front is kinkier. the loose curls get defined with no effort but the other parts I have yet to find technique or product that makes it defined.. im very frustrated.

anywho keep up the good vids and God bless

  • lol...thanx 4 posting this video...I feel you sis!!

  • OMG you are so funny. i dont really know what products to use either. i have being doing the same things as you for the past 2 months, just tring a little of everything, except dog doodoo..lol.i dont want to buy all those expensive products but i would like to get something that really works for my hair. my hair is not as pretty and thick as yours but it seem we have some of the same problems with combing it out, when its wet it shrinks and it looks dull. i hope i find something for it soon.

  • You are hilarious!!!! I feel you girl...

  • GIRRRL you are to funny hahah!! i feels you tho :)

  • Girl our hair can become our enemy at times...... But you know the days it looks right make it all worth it;) I'm also not gonna try those more expensive products. I just don't think it would work in my hair so what's the point?

  • Your video is so funny and so real!!! I am still transitioning, and I totally appreciate your perspective. Because I was wondering where the sistas were who have the same question I do: "What if mine doesnt work like that!???!! LOL!! So thank you I will defintely be a subscriber:) I think you look like a 4c by the way....

  • I think you are 4a more tightly coiled, the people who have coiled but slightly zig zag is 4b. I agree with you that people probably are misreading their hair type. The people who say 4a and their hair is coiled but not as coiled are really 4b

  • wow!! my hair is like that! i think its 4c but i only have like mayb 3 inches and its all packed down on my head and dry and i dont kno wat to do with it, any suggestions wld help alot!

  • girrl I feel you Im not paying al that money> I could have stayed relxed> One ont all but one of my reason of going natural is too cute cost. I make my own shea mix and gylcerine mix. Im 4a and have thick dry hair. I bc'ed after 3month transition. Im having a hard time too. good vid

  • Girl, you are crazy, but I feel you!!! My hair is similar to yours - very thick and very course. I do not pay attention to the hair charts, I just experiment with products and find what works for me. Do you baby girl!

Love the vid! You have a great personality!

  • I feel you girl! my hair is similar. Finally someone made a video about this hair typing issue. i like your hair don't change! if your not worried about using natural stuff try Pink moisturizer my mom used to use that stuff on my hair and it worked fine

  • Dog doo doo? Dang girl! LOL!!!

  • you are so so pretty...well, am also wondering what hair i do have..i hear everyone say that they are 4a or 4b but really, my hair is so so kinky...i doesnt look anything like that 4a or 4b... :)

  • I think ur a 4c lol , the same as me

  • I think ur a 4c

  • wow me and you have the same type omg. i need help and my hair is like 3 inches or so and im like omg. to be if feel dry a%% h3ll lol.

  • You are so dang funny! Just do your moisture the best way you can!!

  • Same with me.

  • lol wow u crazy gurl! yea i think ur 4b but i'm newly natural myself so i hope u found good products

  • Girl, almost two years later, and I'm just finding your video. I LOVE your personality. You really keep it real. LOL! So, have you found out your hair type and have you developed a curl pattern. If so, what products are you using?

  • I'm sitting over here cracking up, I have the same trype hair and I too have trouble figuring out what to do with it...Thanks for the tips.

  • gurl, im cracking up over here!!! your hair is beautiful!!!

  • lol

  • lmao lmao you so funny i like your video :)

  • I think i have the same hair type and problems that you do...But at any rate i love my hair to.

  • i think your 4b you have hair just like my sister..you kinda remind me of her too lol...high yella and all but her hair is so thick she actually breaks combs when its not relaxed..now im natrual i have 4a/4b hair so its not as hard but i've found that if you put a leav-in right after condish..it helps like while your hair is still drippin and then comb through..good luck love.. ;)

  • i feel you girl... my hair is a challenge ):

  • Funny vid, I love ur realness! OMG girl you are crazy...got me in here hollering. I'm your twin with the comb test...I can def pass that. My hair is super thick! I can not comb thru my hair esp after a wash!

  • lol...u r soooo funny in this vid!! I agree with you, I look at some 4a,b,c hair and I'm like wait a minute, my hair definitely do not do that or look like that! lol.....I think I'm a 4c something....great vid!

  • I clicked on this and you are beautiful. I love natural hair. I totally agree with you. LOL We must be something else. Your hair does look soft though.

  • Girl plez hush... U have beautiful awesome luxurous hair whatever ur txture is I love it .... And idk what my texture is but I have like 3 different ones... But I love ur hair u rock!

  • I am trying to figure mine out to I have been natural only 5 month.

  • okay.....I agree....lol lol lol

  • i love you ur so honest just like me this is whats keeping me from going natural

  • your hair is sooooo beautiful....you just need a natural clarifying shampoo...and some shea butter and coconut oil

use a nautral soap from africa like black soap or something like that

  • I hear you!!! I was wondering why my 4b was not like everybody else hair. The african lady that braided my hair told me her hair was better than mine LOL. I think I must have 6a!!

  • 4c!

  • why dont u try using komaza hair care its cheaper

  • YES I DO GURL!!!! lmao my hair is jus like that---rite now im wearin twist out cause its cute on me-and i think im hair is 4b--imma put sum pucs up 2 sho ppl so i can really find out-but i luv ur video-ur 2 funny and i feel u on all that 2 gurl lol

  • if you get some natural oils it will soften your hair up more i use 100% shea butter, tea tree, olive and castor oils and i can comb right through my new growth. the oils are cheap too i got mine for a dollar a piece. i think youre 4b or 4c.

  • Hey, sweetie...don't use dog doodo now. lol...I understand where you are coming from though, boo. Listen sweetie, if you haven't already checked out sealing moisture in your hair on YT... (Typing this as I'm watching the vid...the comb check is TOO FUNNY! anyway)...you should. It will help keep your hair's moisure. Also, stretching your hair's curl out with braids, twists, or soft scrunchies can also help with managing/styling your hair. Keep doing what you do, boo...

  • IK WHAT U MEAN! I can't even put my hair in a ponytail puff cuz it takes sooo much to grab all of it and I can't get it to lay down

  • omg i completely agree with u, i thought it was just me but now i feel sooooooo much better

  • "If you're natural, why are you not using all natural products" I DON'T CARE EITHER! You go girl! I'm going through the exact same thing! I can't get this hair to work with me for nothing! So it's all afro all the time!

  • Girlfriend, you took the words out of my mouth. Our hair is very much alike. THICK! Aint no laying down without a fight! Stay Sof worked for me too! When I figure out how to post a video Imma have to post and show you my hair. I call it the "black fist Hair" the kind you gotta use a pick with a black fist on it to get through it. I kept searching the styles and was like, none of these girls got hair like mine, until I seen yours.

  • I think you have beautiful natural hair. This is such an encourgment to me. Please stick with it and don't give up. I absolutely love your naturalness. Thanks for being real!

  • OMG I am literally crying laughing at this! Thank you so much for this, because I am transitioning ( my last full perm was right before memorial day 2010) and I've watched so many videos but I you's is the first one that seems like what my new growth will really look like. My edges DO NOT lay down with aloe vera or ecostyler gel. I swear my hair just drinks it up. I def needed this laugh

  • OMG YOU ARE AMAZING!!! My daughter is I believe a 4b and c LOL I really appreciate this video you are right on the money!!

  • OMG!!!!! yer sooo funny...

  • OMG!! YOu are soo right! I just bc'd 8/27/10 and I'm like okay...um this stuff is NAPPY!! LOL I tried like you to gel down the front and the sides and it just rolls back up lol. I know some people have to wait a while to find out their real texture, but I'm lost. Thanks for the video! You crack me up lol :o)! Stay Blessed!!

  • i am trying to find this spanish product called mirta de perles. they have keratin in it but can't find it in orlando even though tons of spanish people live here.

  • i love ur video! you are so cute and real. i am a 4a. i get really nice curls from kinky curls and carol's daughter, but that stuff cost way too much money. thank God my sister bought me that stuff. but i just found something awesome. it is a spanish product called norvex. it has keratin in it. a very large bottle cost $13, but you gotta go find a spanish store for products. well, i spent hours in the pool and let it dry. then, i put the conditioner in. wow!! go get it!!

  • THANK YOU!!! This is my texture as well. very challenging. keep doing vids for those of us who can relate. *thumbs up*

  • Omg!!! You are sooo true...lol... I feel ya!!! I can't find out what my texture is...

  • LOL! Girl you are soooo funny!. And yes you are 4C and beautiful!. Work it!

  • I have the same texture and the same problems! All I can do is wear it in a fro and slap a head band and some flowers in it right now!!!!!

  • Thank you becuz girl im not sure abt my 4a 4b hair either compared to other hair, girl i feel lik im off the harts in the 5 too lol i hav a fro and thats it lol and u doin good gettin urs to lay down in the front becuz mine wouldnt even stay in that band

  • Thank you for this because... I finally found somebody with a similar hair texture. I think I am a 4 something... "I'mma do whatever I need to do to keep my damn hair from fallin out!" LMAO! I love it. I like products so I think you should use whatever you need to to keep your hair looking FAB and whatever works for you! Again this made me happy to find a hair twin!

  • lol i love it. got me over here crackin up. we have the same hair texture. once you train it, and find the right products you will see a difference. Also, wait until it gets longer, you will definitely see some type of curl pattern..... i cant guarantee youll be able to part your head any easier....... but youll see. :)

  • lol ur funny

  • you got such beautifull eyes sis! And the hairtype, YEAH! I don't know what I am either but what I understand is that you can have a mixture of different hairtypes.... hope someone comes along who knows the answer, cuz I wanna know toooo!

  • very funny video. I have tried all of those products that you name and nothing work for me. The difference with me is that my hair is this and soft. I can't do twists. they just don't stay. anybody have any ideas for me. sorry I don't do videos but I watch them and this one was funny and honest.

  • LOL SO FUNNY!!! lol, thats like my hair as well, u just need to "train" ur hair, take time and braid, deep condition, and there are ALOT of @ home hair treatments that you can do using EVOO, Shea butter, (which can gt expn) there are inexpensive and effective products as well..Yes ma'am I understand not wanting to pay alot on your hair, I'm a single mother of 1 boy, and have to spend wisely.. I'm working on my video's and pic, so I will do the comb test as well...LMAO!!!!

  • So funny! I can see that you have a wave pattern in the front. You are right...products are expensive but worth it. Have you tried shingling with the ECO styler?

  • girl you and I have the same type of hair. I feel you on it. lol 4a4b

  • Wow your hair is thick I love it. I don't know what I have but I can see my scalp through my hair at the sides and the back. My sister has been natural for two years and she has your hair it's full long and beautiful.

  • It that they do a braid out

  • Girl! I watched this video and laughed they whole time. We have the same hair. When I wash my hair I have to wet it is sections. The hair is wet on the top and DRY on the bottom. I gotta work the water down into my hair my new growth is so thick. Im still transitioning and I cannot comb thru my hair wet or dry. My combs get stuck too. I dont even use clips to hold my hair while Im doing it I just use the comb, lol! I have to say I do use coconut oil and it does soften my hair. Surprised me!

  • You are hilarious! My 1st time giggling enjoying a hair video. Your hair is pretty.

  • Comment removed

  • Use the LOIS hair system, the regular system isn't as accurate. The LOIS system goes by the individual strand, hair thickness and moisture resistance.

  • Girl I know. I even have your color. What is up with that? I hate that my hair never goes right into shape. It takes too long. I give up. And I hate that I have shoulder length hair that looks like it inch long.

  • Girl..I so feel you on all those expensive products..Ms Jessie, KCC, Carols Daughter...all those expensieve products you can try doing trial and error...NOT! i brought the stasofro and it made my hair soft and shiny for $3.99 at wallmart. Im still searching for a product to give me any kind of cure definition but it wont be a $25product that is for sure. Great Video

  • lmao..i love it!

  • I use Fantasia IC Hair Polisher Styling Gel. (Family Dollar, Dollar General, etc.) it's abt $4 bucks for a 16oz jar. last me a long time. I wash my hair and use a leave in conditioner Breck Moisturizing Leave-In Conditioner from the $Tree. and for the next 2-3 days i saturate my hair each morning just add a little of the Fantasia styling gel to bring out the curl dries fairly quickly (2-4hrs) and add my shea butter/olive oil for moisture and protection. Has worked well for my hair for 3mos now.

  • LOL you are too funny! I think my hair is close to yours too. One day I want to make a video. Haven't been bold enough to do it yet.

  • you have gorgeous thick afro textured hair...that actually LOOKS healthy. Most afro textured hair i see look unhealthy, but yours looks GREAT. i would say you are maybe a 4c. i love your hair...and you are very pretty. Hope i help. later

  • i know exactly what u mean, my hair is like urs i think the others are confused as 2 what their hair is

  • OMG i feel you my hair just like that

  • ur hair txture is like mines! i think mine is 4c.

  • I agree with you and glad to hear from someone speaking the truth about hair. I feel like you. My natural hair is rough, tough, not soft, etc. and I am not trying to go broke or become a slave to products either. so I am praying to God for natural reasonalble products and solutions to manage and style my hair. Stay real and keep experiementing too.

  • lmao!! youre funny!

  • I know my comment is kinda late but I got the same hair texture as you so I'm cofused to. lol And I agree with you about the curly products...it's like we naturals traded relaxers for puddings. Trading one addiction for another. I think if you are gonna be natural be natural, no kccc, miss jessie's or any thing else needed. Just moisture, add it, live it, love it. :) By the way I love your hair.

  • I feel you on them products!!! Too high!

  • you have some nice thick thick hair !

  • I just came accross your video and was struck by how pretty your are, nice features, I totally forgot what the video was about, lol...thanks though

  • I feel the exact same way!!! I don't fit a 4 nothing.....I'm on a product search now!!

  • I have the same hair as you. It feels like I am the only woman with hair like this. Thanks for the video.

  • I have the SAME texture as you. Try Eco Styler!!

  • I feel the SAME way, girl! I know I must be a 5 or 6 somethin' because I get nothing in the way of curl pattern unless it's wet and I have some certain product in it....but let's not sweat it....Look at it this way...I'm so glad I don't have that real slick wavy hair, like real mixed chick hair cuz it's just limp...I love how ours has lots of texture!!

  • Yep, I drive with the comb in my hair! It looks just like yours, except it's black!!!! ;0) And I am still trying to find products for my hair! It is a battle believe me!!!!

  • I felt the same exact way and I was saying the same thing to myself earlier...

  • TEXTURED TRESSES by Diane DaCosta is resourceful...it mentions hair types.

  • You are so funny:-) What's that noise!!!!! PAUSE I have the same type of hair and yes it can be trying at times....that's why I stick with braids, afros and twist/ twist outs.

  • you should use the LOIS hair rating system it's more comprehensive

  • @KaleidoscopeIdeas LOIS)Great webSite..thanks for sharing.

  • HAHAHAHA!! I think the same exact thing when I watch the videos! I have the EXACT same hair you have and this is the first time I've seen a natural hair youtube video talking about natural hair that has coarse hair like me! And you are HILARIOUS! Natural hair looks beautiful on you!

  • girl I guess you just keep it real...I hope someone send you some free products for like the next 10 years lol!

  • I think you might need to try different products like KCCC or the eco styler gel. However, I do feel like you are more of a 4b if anything

  • My hair is the same way! I have been searching to find people on the tube with my same pattern and I have not been successful. My hair do not curl, wave, or hold a twist. I always seem dry. I am trying to stay natural and find a product that works for me but I am getting so frustrated. The hair texture chart must be extended because I feel that I am a 99z.. If you do find anything that works, please let me know....I feel your pain...LOL!

  • your hair looks 4b-4c to me its cute but yea thats how it looks to me

  • I feel your pain. My hair is the same way and is a mixture of 4a/b/c. Love your video lol :-)
