  • I was banded on March 6th. I'm just about 4mo. out. I have now lost 50lbs even since the day of my operation. I work out every day and now eat less red meat. I eat a lot of salmon. I eat mexican food too but, i pick off my husband's plate. LOL and I eat chips and salsa. I'll never give up my nachos and refried beans. If you r by a O'Charleys, eat the Key West Chicken. It is a grilled breast with papaya and mango salsa on rice pilof. GOOD LUCK TO U

  • Thanks for the info and so glad to hear that you are doing so well with your band! Keep working it girl!

  • wow. I think you're doing great, and I just wanted to point out to you that you really are a beautiful girl! Keep up the great work!

  • Thanks! You are too sweet!

  • Great video.

  • Thanks!

  • your face is so soft and sweet! i can see your transformation taking place. sounds like your vacation was a blast.that is awesome. thanks for sharing your story. One thing that i notice is that I make sure to pack my breakfast and lunch daily for work. i used to do it every so often, but always look forward to going out to eat lunch. Now, i want to be in control of everything that i put in my mouth and going out to lunch (like in my past life) enabled me to loose control, way too easily.

  • Thanks! I loved vacation for the first time in a long time! :D I did pack a ton of food this time so that I would have lots of healthy options since we were in a cabin instead of a hotel room. It made it a lot easier too. I also pack my lunch for work everyday too. That way I know what I'm eating like you said.

  • i havent watched for a bit wow! you cheeks are totaly a different shape! slimmin u look good!

  • Thanks! :D

  • ps - you look so beautiful and your face is slimming since I last "saw" you...

  • You are too sweet...I am having Shannon video withdrawals...post something! :D

  • I totally get what you are saying..vacation for me/us = FOOD and EATING..everywhere and everything. It's almost a little bit sad now but I feel so much better that it makes up for it. We are going on a cruise in October (our 9th one and my first post op) so I'm curious to see how that goes...food is SO BIG on cruises...

Good seeing you..I've been thinking of you just super busy. Hugs hugs hugs! Love Shannon

  • Thanks hunny! I remember you talking about your cruise. I would love to go on one...maybe our honeymoon...hehe! I know how busy you must be lately. When does the new job start and when will you guys be completely be moved into your new beautiful home? HUGS BACK AT YOU HUN! Love! Amy

  • glad to see ur doing so well! I know what you mean about making food the entertainment. My whole life used to revolve around food and things are so different now. I'm glad you had a great time on your vacation. :-)

  • Thanks! It was nice to actually be entertained on vacation instead of eating myself into a coma. :D

  • I think it will be odd the next time I go out of town, I will probably just have to eat a little bit off of Todd's plate when we go out to eat on vacation. Now I can bring stuff home and eat off of my leftovers for about 5 days, but if I'm out of town and we have to go out for meals, then I think I will just have to eat off of his plate. I'm glad you enjoyed your vacation. Ooh, pinapple salsa sounds interesting. Have a great day.

  • It was different but a good different. :D Will and I just share meals unless it's a cheap enough place to get 2 meals because we do have a lot different taste buds. The pineapple salsa was amazing on grilled tilapia. yummy!

  • it sounds like ya'll had a great vacation!! where did ya'll go?

  • OMG we had the best time! We went to the Outer Banks of NC for a wedding on the Saturday and then spent the next 5 days in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Have you guys ever been there?

  • thanks for the info on med intreractions. i take iron and thyroid med too.

  • No problem! I take my iron in my multivitamin in the afternoon so it doesn't interact with it.

  • How wonderful that you are experiencing such positive changes. It sounds like you are really feeling better about yourself, and that is reflected in your life. It's great that you are enjoying experiencing new foods. It's all about enjoying the journey! It's great that you did a lot of walking and didn't get out of breath. I think the "last supper" syndrome is pretty common for pre-surgery patients.

  • Oh yes it was a great vacation except we spent too much money running around and doing activities the whole time but at least I'm able to do things now! haha.

  • No disrespect intended to your husband, I'm a married man myself and mean this only as an observation. But you were a beautiful woman before the lap band and still are. Your size never mattered (and I'll bet your husband said so). The big deal is you finally getting to FEEL as pretty as you always were. That's priceless :D

    Keep smiling... you've earned it!

  • Thanks for the sweet comments! Yes, Will doesn't care what size I am but the way I feel will make our relationship that much better.

  • you are looking amazing girl! I know what you're saying about eating with non wls persons... I went to lunch with my mom at a mexican joint the other day and she ate this HUGE plate of food and orderd tacos on the side. lol.. i was like.. can i get a childs plate. lol.. it's weird even this weekend i went to a memorial day bbq at my family's house OMG there was sooo much food. i can't believe how i used to eat.

  • Thanks hun! Eating with non-wls people is definitely an experience! haha. Sometimes I feel like my portions are getting too big and I go out to eat with a friend and realize how much my portions really have changed and it's so crazy what has become the "norm" for me/us.

  • Hi, you are doing such a great job. You are looking smaller and smaller every time i see you :).......Did you take before pictures? I am obsessed with taking my "before pictures" and cant wait to put them all together at the end of my weight loss to see the progress that I have made. Keep up the good work!

  • Thanks! Yes I did take pre-op pictures (Will says I looked like a linebacker in my before picture! haha) I still take pictures once a month since surgery.

  • You are looking great and congrats on all the changes! I had some friends in town and I actually think I wore them out from all the walking and sight seeing. It would have been the opposite a year ago. I'm shocked by the amount of food I see people eat too. It's always weird to think I used to eat that much and more. I'm so happy for you with all the good changes you're seeing.

  • Thanks MJ! Will definitely got really tired walking around with me all day, but it feels so good to just be able to walk around! I'm just glad that I finally have a sense of control over food since it's had such a hold over me for the past 23 years.

  • Hey, girlie!! I still eat Mexican food all the time - love it!! And it's totally great for us - easy to do high protein and easy to digest because it's pretty mushy food. The salsa you're describing is called "pico de gallo" and it's my FAVE (now I hate regular salsa that's all blended). Your trip sounds like so much fun! My gf is thinking about lap band and it's a funny thing to navigate in our relationship - a lot of watching her is watching my old self, like you say.

  • OMG I love mexican food...it's so my weakness! haha. I love this pico de gallo..i used to always ordered it removed from my plate. I went to the Mexican rest. here in town after that fresh place and I didn't like it nearly as much. What kinds of things do you eat? If Becky has ANY questions, please don't hesitate to tell her to ask me. I know you know so much but if she wants to know anything specifically about lapband I'd love to help! :D

  • everytime i see you, you're shrinking ;-) Sounds like you had a great time on vacation.

I did the last meal thing too.cause of my food addiction, it felt like i was giving up a friend that i would never see again. I dont recommend it either because of the way i felt AFTER I ate the it, but like you said, it was something i felt I needed to do at the time.

I've been trying new foods too, its kind of cool to be able to find other things i really like and not be fixated on the old ones.

  • Thanks hun! I did have an awesome time on vacation! It's crazy how much easier things are to do now and it allows me to actually enjoy vacation! I felt awful doing my last suppers but I feel like it's different for everyone but I felt like I needed it so I don't criticize will for it you know.
