The commentator is not entirely incorrect. Bollywood music is derived from a lot of influences and folk music is one of them. Ice dancers choose music to fit in all the required elements of the sport such as lifts, step sequences, twizzles etc. For people who have never skated in their lives, you don't know how difficult it is to try staying on two feet on the ice for a minute let alone performing an amazing program and making it look so incredibly easy.

What I remember most from watching the movie where this music comes from (Devdas) is the choreagraphy of the dances and the melodies. I think they did a great job portraying the character of the dance sequences and the essence of Indian dance. They're really into the music, they become part of it and that's what it's all about.

That was really IMPRESSIVE and totally entertaining!! You can tell they did their research into the dance moves from the songs, and incorporated them into seamless "ice" dancing! It was hella good!!

This dance is amazing. I have looked at various comments, and I was hoping that those from India, or of India, would like it. I am old enough to remember Ravi Shankar in the 1960s; this was the first time that I ever heard the sitar, and the first time that I had heard these rhythms. I don't know when "Bollywood" began, but I am glad to see that those of us in the west can share in India's old, varied, and rich culture. Bravo to D&W for this special, and intricate dance. Keep sharing!

Ugh. I really do feel they should have won gold at the Olympics. I feel like everything was right from the face, the moves, and even the hands. I really DON'T think just steps like what the canadians did was magnificent. I feel like they might have been cheated out of a gold somehow. I was just ready to hear to some sort of controversy come of out of ice skating again like they always do.

@mmmmmvodka Davis and White have a lot more innovation in their skating. I felt they should have won the original dance in Vancouver. Virtue and Moir's margin of victory was way too high in the final standings.

@TheSienna29 I also agree with this. I don't think you can say either were "robbed," but the margin of victory should have been something along the line of a few tenths either way. It's weird too, because D&W had already beaten V&M in the OD that season.

@frostdiamond1 Not to be conspiratorial or anything, but I think being Canadian did help V&M. Not so much that they didn't necessarily deserve the gold medal (they're a FABULOUS, CLASSICAL pair!), but enough so the judges gave them some generous marks and maybe devalued D&W's OD which they had been rewarding all year and which was the talk of the Ice Dancing world. They're both wonderful couples and in the end it's a question of which style you prefer.

I think, and of course this is my opinion, that both teams were phenomonal at the Olympics, but V&M won HANDS DOWN!

I would have loved D&W to have won the Olympic Gold, but I feel V&M were all but perfect that night.

Now, at Worlds, I feel D&W gave much more than V&M, and THAT is the competition I feel that they were robbed, definitely.

The judges awarded World Gold this year based strictly on the Olympic standings.

@masinindy As I said, I don't think either team was robbed in Vancouver. I do, however, think D&W should have won the OD. Originality is a big part of Ice Dancing, and nobody's compared to D&W's. With V&M's exquisite FD, there was no way anyone was going to beat them in that portion of the competition. The classical style is still favored by most judges (and myself), and that was ballet on ice. D&W needed to at least get a few points on them in the OD, which I think they should have.

@frostdiamond1 My major complaint is by HOW MUCH V&M won by. They were spectacular, but so were D&W. If the judges thought V&M were a bit more so, I'd be fine with the result, but ONLY a BIT more. V&M kind of ran away with the win, and I didn't agree with that.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to see any 2010 Worlds (curse NBC for putting it all on cable! :P), so I can't pass any kind of judgment on that.

Again, both are wonderful teams and made ID SO much more enjoyable in 2010 than 2006!

This is one of the most original OD programs. I really felt they should have won the OD at the olympic games in Vancouver. While I agree with the free dance order and the olympics, it just seemed like Virtue and Moir's OD was not as complex or unique as this.

@criminaljournalism Virtue and Moir's free dance was very similar to the free dance of the Canadian couple in the 2006 games...same romantic music....same love story. Davis and White have done more to push the sport in a new direction.

@TheSienna29 Yes, Davis and White are so inventive and creative in skating, but judges liked more classical interpretation, safe. V&M got gold medal here in Olympics and worlds, but I really liked D&W best. V&M won by playing it safe. D&W's passion, creativity, and their joy: :they deserved but did not did not win gold, but it won gold in my heart.. No negative re V&M, but they got their gold medals by playing it safe. Can't wait to see what my D&M do next....

I knew they had won halfway through their FD, it was flawless.

Being creative does not trump perfectin on ice.

I do think D&W and V&M are pretty evenly matched, so I still think the Olympics could have gone either way, but the latter had a superior FD which made us remember ice dancing from a bygone age. But the OD was all Meryl and Charlie. It was far more original than V&M's and seemed more complex, even though their Spanish inspired routine was also lovely. I was disappointed D&W didn't at least get top marks for the OD, and think they deserved it.
