So i am getting an alien ware m15x laptop with a 8gb dual channel (2x4GB DDR3) memory with a intel core i7 740QM quad core running at 1.7Ghz/2.93Ghz turbo mode. processor. Would that be a good setup if i were running games, searching the wed etc.?
hey guys i play sc2 and i only get 10-15 fps and its annoying so i need to upgrade my shit so heres my specs and tell me what i should get to make it run 30-40 fps.
im creating a super computer at 2500$ gtx 580 nividia water-cooling the hole package i was wondering if it would be worth it to stick with 32gb or the 24gb R.A.M. package
Love your videos man. As a fellow super geek I already know most of what you talk about but I enjoy hearing others talk about tech very much. I also find great ability to look at things from a different angle when someone else talks about things from their own perspective. Subscribed!
Dude I have played empire total war, supreme commander and they dont use anywhere near 3gb of memory! Thats running it on highest settings. No game I have played has used 2GB such as BF Bad Company 2, Bioshock, Starcraft II etc
Even with your system specs Hanrich 4GB would be more than enough even on x64. If its not enough then look at whats eating all that memory up in task manager and get rid of it. Really 12x8GB you will never use it all.
That 160GB on the 360 is on a 5400rpm drive. Which sucks ass in terms of speed haha, You might as well just partition some virtual memory from your computer drive or use a scratch disk if you really want more memory. But I think 4Gb is more than enough for anything. I do hardcore CS5 work on 4Gb, works fine.
3gb is not enough for the game like empire total war and supreme commander, tom clancy's hawk and end war. not to mention most of rts/rpg game are ram eating monster. even fps game i dont think 3gb can hold up any longer. since the market require at least 2gb for absolutely minimum for gaming but will be recommend to go on 8gb or more(x64 os). plus a e5xxx + 9600gt may be just barely enough for main stream gaming. for your question 3gb will not be enough in these day
don't really know much about comps.i have a pretty old computer and was wondering if any1 that knows a lot about computers can help. when i go to my computer, right click, properties(to view memory) it says: computer: intel (R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.50GHz 1.50 GHz, 256MB of RAM total phys. memory:256.50MB available phys. memory: 12.76MB total virtual memory2.00GB Available virtual memory:1.96GB page pile space:619.12MB is that good, medium, or bad if i restore my computer how much will i get back?
If by "restore" you mean sell, don't bother. The only 1.5 GHz Pentium 4 that existed was the original Willamette core, which is 8 years old technology and by now more than outdated. In light of this fact, your system can be considered completely amortized, or in other terms, worthless. Maybe you find someone in your circle of acquaintances that *might* pay you $30-50 for it, but if you're not incredibly short on money, you can safely give it out for free or, for that matter, just throw it away.

If you're going the gaming route, try upgrading your graphics card to at least an x1050. And the 2 gigs from 512 will definitely help. Even going to 2 from 1 will get you an improvement(unless in XP, but still) go for it.
I'm pretty sure manufactures realize the stress vista puts on their machines. That's why you see cheap laptops at circuitcity for with not 1 gb, but 2 gb. It's almost a standard now. While every newer mac computer i've seen lately has had 1 gb and no more pre-installed. A sign? Maybe
4GB for gaming alone, but the jump from 4 to 8 is soo cheap right now....

PS i play games like Crysis
THX!
airsoft343 2 years ago
unless you're a photoshop user I would stay at 6GB. Crysis is a heavy game that benefits more from a faster graphics card, ATI 4890 is a good one.

it's that time of the month, so don't piss me off.

No Vista dosen't suck, it's quite stable, the reason Vista needs more memory is because it has aero affects.
