  • "If Dad performs a few of THESE gyrations while the family is having breakfast, there could be a trailerload of trouble."

Truer words have never been spoken.

  • Brilliant!

  • :D awesome!

  • Why in the world has this not caught on?

  • ok that's nice, 360 degree mobility and weight distributed on all 4 wheels....HOWEVER!!! what happens to the cable that normally plugs into the back of the car, right next to the coupling, you know, the one that helps you blink the indicators on the caravan, or light the brake lights....??? Wont it tangle and rip if you try a 360 turn? just wondering

  • 1:25 - Of course it is very safe driving with a 20 ton caravan in front of you... You won't accidentally hit any stray children at all...

  • so easy and genius in the same time.

  • no mamer ta chingon

  • who knew indiana was "the trailor state"

  • Bud! Bud! BUD! BUUUD!

COME BACK BUD, IT'S NOT QUITTIN' TIME YET

  • por que no salio en Mèxico ubiera sido genial

  • This is NOT bizarre... this is Genial!

    A Design Opera.

    Good.

    Collection Object.

  • I just wonder how it did on a windy stretch of road?

  • Very clever idea! Although I think the roof of most modern cars wouldn't stand up to that kind of loading. It's a pity that good ideas like this aren't seen much anymore, and even if someone does come up with one, it never gets put into production

  • geil.........

  • Man's Original Creativity and pure talent from yesterday can out perform any computer nerd in real time. Gone are the days of Human hands on inovation and intelect, we are now entering a cycle of robotic dumbness in all aspect of the society and untill man have realized the idiocracy of its making nothing will be accomplished for the sake of Humanity insted of the few Wealthy dirtbags enjoyment in finnancial greed and total ignorance on life and its value as whole.

  • @MrToits I'd say design nowadays just took a simplier and cheaper form. Back then When the Manager wanted a Prototype, they had to do everything by hand. Now with Imaging and advance Engineering, Design and prototype process is cheaper and time is cut in half.

  • How does the roof last so much weight

  • This is genious!!! Why don't they make such campers nowadays?

  • that is freakin cool, holy crap have never seen one like this in europa!!

  • @ConnollyJordan With those circular indications in the middle (hard to see but there) those would be stock VW hubcaps. With no mark there, the were called "Baby Moon" hubcaps. That should be the most productive search term. Best regards.

  • I enjoy Bud Lindemann. It's too bad he's no longer around. He had a great speaking voice for tv host.

  • i will make one for my 67 beetle........ someday

  • @cm67btl you do, post it:)

  • Very cool to bad we don't have more colledge grads that can engineer something like this, instead they just turn out more clones.

  • this is quite possible the coolest thing i have ever seen!

  • Who made this? Didn't hear a brand name in the video.

  • This could probably be done with any kind of vehicle.

  • i want one....NOW!!!

  • Genius! And beautiful too! I want that combination!

  • it German :)

  • THAT IS SO GENIOUS!

  • Classic...

  • Comment removed

  • You have to love these old videos.Pretty funny.

  • That's a smart idea

  • I want one!!!

  • awesome caravan!

  • the 1938-2003 Volkswagen Beetle was assembled in Wolfsburg, Hanover, Emden, Ingolstadt, Osnabrück, Germany Melbourne, Australia Brussels, Belgium São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil Jakarta, Indonesia Dublin, Ireland Puebla, Puebla, Mexico Auckland, New Zealand Lagos, Nigeria Manila, Philippines Uitenhage, South Africa Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, SFR Yugoslavia Valencia, Venezuela

  • That actually is a great idea.

  • that must haul ass going up a steep hill

  • thats the coolest thing iv ever seen for a beetle

  • The worlds most pointless thing ever

  • @ fluffycatsdad, the car is a VeeDub! Not a pinto. No pintos here. Not one. Just a VW. A VolksWagen. That VW is a German car. It is not a Pinto, at all.

  • @TheGodlessCommie Hey is that a Pinto?

  • this is genius, why dont we see this in todays innovations?

  • (O\_!_/O) Meep Meep

    VW Beetle, 1940's-2003

  • damn its times like these i wish i had a shitload of money so i could hunt down and find this thing in a junk yard somewhere and restore it and go camping fuck ya

  • lol i want to have one^^

  • OMG how much il pay any price il live in it 4ever!!!! no Joke how Much is it?

  • WANT!

  • eff that is cool

  • Now that's inovation that we don't see today. This is back when the future looked exciting and cool! Now it's all tech this and tech that.

  • i want trailer

  • i want one :D

  • LOL, that is the funniest commentary i've heard.

  • Best!

  • What an interesting idea! Never saw such a crazy thing before.

  • No it can't turn 360 degrees without pulling the trailer lights wiring out. But it's cool. Them 70's, sheesh.

  • Germans make good cars

  • lol im sorry to break it to any of you because this camper is not in existence anymore they are super rare.

  • WINNING!

  • That is to cool.

  • Yes, we know how popular that hitch is from seeing so many Beatles pulling those 5th wheels down the highway. I see them every day, don't you??

  • this is cool. i fuckin' want one!

  • nice

  • That was really cool looking! Wonder if there are any more of those out there?

  • I want one of these...any one know where to get one?

  • I really like how mobile the thing is but imagine lets say just 500 pounds of luggage and accessories not including the trailer itself and pulling it up a long uphill road in VW. Hey who all knew they made the old style beetles in Mexico all the up untill the 90s if not later

  • @daytonpaul Up until 2003 actually!

  • I just want to drive one of these on the highway just to look at peoples reactions. lol

  • only thing i can say is LOL

  • i have never seen anything like this before. does anyone know where to even find one? or is it a kit? what the french, toast? this would be such a fun piece to have with a bug!

  • I came up with the same idea! the difference is that I was using a Ford Pinto and or a AMC Grimlen

  • how the hell does this little tiny 60hp 4 cyl engine pull all that weight lol

  • That is genius. Just like the concept and design of the bug is. I bet these are worth some bucks today, though the owners probably wouldn't even consider selling!

  • sweet setup

  • that looks safe

  • wow thats so cool

  • I can't lie....I have to admit that is very badass. Even though I live on a ranch and have trucks to pull a bigger camper with, I would love to have one of these setups. That is awsome.

  • i want one

  • This is just too cool!

  • It's quittin' time? Not already?!? Come back, Bud! COME BAAAAACK

    :(

  • This is actually really cool.

  • Whoever thought that this was a good idea?

I bet these are super-rare now...

  • The seventeen people who marked this video with a thumbs down are morons.

  • So cool ;-D

  • a trailer for beetle only hmm that is so familiar

  • a trailer for beetle only hmmmm that is so familiar

  • 17 honda owners can't find the "radiator" on a VW bug hahaha

  • thats brilliant

  • WOW!?! WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT A LIL BUG COULD PULL A RV TRAILER AND FROM ITS ROOF LOL... I OWN A BUG AND I NEVER KNEW THIS... GOOD 1 LOL

  • lol looksodd

  • lol looks frikin weerd

  • I drive a Y2K Bug, I'd love to do this with it. :)

  • W:autobahnni[.]com

  • That is the coolest camper set up I have EVER seen...

  • I like it. Think it's slick. Wish it had been around when we had our 68 bug.

  • Well it sure takes all the BUGS out of parking the trailer:) no pun intended:)

  • Well it sure takes all the BUGS out of parking the trailer:) now pun intended:)

  • lets take a low power car and double it's wind drag and weight sounds stupid,, but if it works and fits as nice as a slide in then it works, i want to know how many of these were sold.

  • I want one

  • whoooohohoooo:DD got style!

  • 360 degrees tho... then you don`t have a reason to learn to back up a trailer! but this spokesman is funny...

  • this sales man is hilarious!!!!

  • Hahaha. That is cute.

  • Great rig! I'm looking for the plans or kit to buy for this VW trailer.

  • THIS IS AWESOME I THINK ! :D

  • i remember camping when i was a kid up in hadlock, wa i saw some dude with one of these.

it was around 76-79 i think.

looked like he was living in it.

  • Now this is pretty neat rig.

  • Would be nice to buy this again!!

  • want one on my camry !

  • I love this trailer.

  • Way to cool!!!

  • OMG, I want one.

  • I love it.... :)

  • i would love to have the vw beetle and the trailor , with todays gas prices it is a sweet deal

  • @1948tc My bug get's 25 mpg....day in an day out.

  • Wow!!

  • Too Cool!

  • i want one

  • Thats SICK

  • lol

  • that ould be fun to purposley ruin!

  • where can i buy one ?

  • cool

  • So so practical!

  • about 1977 id say

  • Why to I keep expecting a Yellow Power Ranger to suddenly leap outta that thing???

  • I don't think they are safety chains. They seem like they're there for grounding purpuses.

  • would be unable to use those saftey chains and make them turns as far as i could see

  • @marktype1 yea i was thinkin the same thing... unless the plate they hook onto swivels as well...

  • im surprised the roof could hold it

  • @ripper3494 the trailor is balanced so it doesnt have all the weight forward and also the weight on the fifth wheel is on the edge of the roof not the center.

  • this shit is cool!! never thought of it! :P

  • I am not a techie, and never learned to speak "car," but did have a 1972 Superbeetle and drove it 21 years. Never tried to pull anything. Never had anything to pull.... So it goes. I loved my Beetle, and have come to hate the 2 cars I have nursed along since. I still miss that Beetle, though. Oh, well....

  • i searched camper because of cod

  • haha, this is really cool.but driving around corners could be tricky with such a high balance point or tow bar.but still great!

  • Great video i love bugs, You must talk to neil oakley from litesteer com he has just patented a new power steering system for all vw's its incredible

youtube search litesteer to see the video.

he is also looking for fitters of the new system..might be worth a call or email.. good luck

    regards mark j endorfintv com

  • did these ever flip the beetle. you can see even doing like 5mph in a turn the side lifts easily.

  • congratulations, hohow

  • is this street legal in the USA?

  • @diddymuck I don't think this ever became mainstream here. This video is the only one I've ever seen.

  • would the vw have the pulling power for such a large rv?

  • just bring a tent or stay in a motel room for cripes sake!!!

  • awesome concept and even 18mpg with trailer. but can you imagine.... the car goes like 22 sec in the qtr and terrible 55 to 70 times, can you imagine with a trailer?

  • The bugs rear always looks like that even with no trailer when under acceleration,

  • wyjebane:D

  • I wonder if I could stick this on my import. It's not a Volkswagen Beetle, but it's fairly small. I know one thing, it looked like it was putting a lot of weight on the rear end.

  • I. FREAKING. WANT. ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is Ridiculously amazing!! I LOVE IT!!!

  • Towesome!!

  • that's... actually not a bad idea.

just make sure the camper's got good electric brakes, and a vw should have no problem at all!

  • That would have been nice on a Pinto hatchback, not some air-cooled relic.

    Made in Indiana....American ingenuity!

  • So anyone who drove into the back of the Pinto would hit the trailer, not the Pinto, thus preventing the Pinto's gas tank from exploding and setting the car on fire?

  • That´s Genius..!! German Intelligence..

  • this would be a hell of a lot easier to back up than my f550 dually
