Oh give it a break.

No one had a computer in their homes yet (not a real one anyway) and this was an attempt to tap the new technology. Kinda like the space operas of the 50s and 60s.

I'd probably dismiss it as a load of crap now, but it must have been good back in 1984. I went to this boy's house at the time and he had an Automan figure. It was quite cool.
