Idk what kind they were, but I had the most delicious little brown mushrooms in England. They served them everyday with breakfast, and they were cooked and marinated in some type of vinegar-tasting stuff. Yum!
Thanks so much! This recipe looks so yummy! Have to make this one for sure. I have a bunch of leeks to harvest, too. Cant decide on favorite mushroom... portabello and shiitake possibly
100% of all edible mushrooms should be cooked. Because of the mycochitin. Not sure if the lemon juice would 'cook' them enough. Something to think about.
Just passing on some info. Thanks for all you two do! You do such a wonderful job.
if cooked foods had no nutrients, people would be dropping like flies. Even Kevin says high-raw, notice how he doesn't say 100% raw? Some foods are actually better to be steamed, or boiled. For example, tomatoes, high in lycopenes (a type of antioxidant) have more bioavailable antioxidants when they're cooked. Steaming is also good.
@MichaelBallack91 People ARE malnutritioned & sick because they KILL the amino acids etc. by cooking & because of the depleted soil stuff is grown on - but that's another big one. I eat mushrooms raw whenever I can, and I am not dropping dead either. So, depends on which dogma you subscribe to or which food pope you follow I guess ;)
yeah I agree but i mean people would be dying. Think of eating paper. As far as I know, no nutritional content, and if you only ate that you'd die, so cooking doesn't destroy EVERYTHING. It may destroy a good deal of nutrients, but not everything :P
But yeah I'm a big fan of raw foods, but I don't think it's like an ultimatum...like choose raw or choose cooked. I think it varies for every vegetable.
Baby bellas! Love you both, Annemarie you inspired me so much in this raw adventure with your perky attitude and fun easy recipes! Cannot wait to see you both on the bus tour...I might freak out so watch out for that...haha! Have the best day ever
Thanks for the share friends! Kevin and Anne Marie, if you two love local, organic, yummy, medicinal and herbal teas to seep yourself at home then please check out our lovely local bay area grower at Owen's Acres - google for the website since I can't post links here. Amswer: I LOVE mushrooms - fav = portabello & crimini
Great recipe guys! Thanks! Just one thing: I find broccoli to be bloating when eaten raw. In my experience, it is better eaten lightly steamed. Or perhaps the marinate has a similar effect. Hmmm... I typed this while I watched by the way. ; )

I just had two large, grilled portabello mushrooms for dinner along with a home made lentil burger :)
Dr. Fuhrman suggested that ALL mushrooms be cooked to get rid of natural toxins in them.
