@HJSDGCE It's not that advanced. We just can't make it as reliable (performance wise) as today's touchscreens and it's way to expensive to be properly implemented.
But there are flexible plastics capable of getting electric current trough them.
question is, will sim card still exist when this phone is released? Sim cards will probably get smaller and smaller too, or simply just upload the information sim cards have to the phone, right?
It's never going to happen now. Samsung just months ago said they keeping their flexible screen technology exclusive or only sharing with cross licensed partners, like Sony, IBM.... etc. As the largest screen maker in the World, they spend Billions on R&D and they are no longer going to share that w/ competitors that refuse to give them credit for it. So the first flexible screen device will come out next year by Samsung and be an EXCLUSIVE!
@kroneage samsung doesnt have patents on flexible screen technology. nokia already has patents on everything to do with this phone. they seem pretty serious about it
@4turtleboy4 Nokia has no screen factories of their own. Yeah they have some patented ideas, but they have not demonstrated a real product. Samsung has!!! .....and that's the difference between them. Samsung is the not just a phone company. They make everything themselves except some minor pieces. They can and do fabricate their own memory, screens and SoC chips. Nokia can't come close to doing that. They don't have the #2 R&D in the World next to IBM like Samsung either! lol....
@kroneage what product is samsung making right now, that already seems in reach, that is remotely close to as sweet as the morph right now? nokia has the concept down and since news is still coming from them since they showcased this in 2008, it seems that this could become a reality in maybe 5 to 10 years. i hope. but i heard that nokia makes awful software. so itd be cool if they joined with someone to help them out in that aspect
@4turtleboy4 Morph is only a concept demo, no different than Samsung's Flexi Skin Phone. Any actual screen is using Samsung's patented screen technology. Utilizing transparent Super AMOLED circuit technology. In fact Samsung has the only Mining of the rare elements used to make OLED's in the first place. It's located in Pennsylvania, USA! lol.. So any actual demonstration of a flexible screens must utilize Samsung parts. Including Sony's flexible screen! Samsung: Flexible Phones out w/in 6 mo!
@kroneage wow then samsungs just a bunch of pricks. if they joined with nokia theyd make millions too. as long as someone comes out with something this cool. i guess ive always just been for nokia cuz the morph was the first thing i saw to use this kind of concept
@isaimcbreinguitar Megaman had this phone. I know cause he told me when he came out of my Nintendo one day i ate too much mushrooms with my girlfriend.
Maybe in the distant future, but I don't see how we can manipulate molecules to such extent in the near future. Silicone, while being used to make in microprocessors as an excellent replacement for electrical circuits, does not recharge with sunlight, does not detect chemical in the air, does not emit light, and does not respond to human touch. So why should carbon molecule? Being light, strong, flexible and good conductor is the only thing it does for the time being.
@Brutusbeefking are you kidding me we have been using nano-machines since the late 90's , and super advanced nanopolymers that we can manipulate its properties for example make it more flexible.
@annoyingmish it will be a transparent sim card made of nano technology special for this phone so you will never be able to change phones with the same sim card....HOW NNICE :)
@Atriox1 Its based on nano-technology's possibilities so we'll see this kind of stuff in like 10 years or so.. this is nokias nano project. Nano technology makes it possible to objects to change their shape, color and other stuff... you can read about it yourself or serach utubue for nano tech if u want to know more. :) When this kind of end products of that tech comes out, its about universities and scientists.

I don't think it'll ever be on sale as it looks right now.
