  • Jesus appeared to me in a dream. I said "I KNEW you were real!"

He said "Wow, you really ARE dreaming."

  • Man your are evil, dont you realise the christians are not ment to think for them selfs?

  • What is the "moral" of this video series? What are you trying to show people?

  • @ECWnWWF That the entire story isn't even internally consistent.

  • Hey I thought Jesus had no superjesuspowers until he was baptised.

  • @MercuryRis That may be a throwback to the Ebionite Christians. They believed that Jesus was a mortal, just like you and me (and no virgin birth either, he was the son of Joseph). At his baptism, the spirit of God came down and took possession of him. The two then had a sort of symbiotic relationship and that explained his powers. They claimed he was the adopted son of God.

  • WHAT?? just because they said He wasn't 50 means that He was close to it? Here Christ is saying that He was alive at the time of Moses and these Jews are saying how can that be you aren't even 50 yet? 50 was old to them! they are just saying that's crazy talk you aren't old enough. it has nothing to do with His actual age

  • @jaciemack &rq146

Seems oddly specific don't you think? If he were in his late 20s, wouldn't you expect something stronger like "you are barely half the age to be claiming such wisdom"?

  • @DeistPaladin No i don't think it's oddly specific. i think it might be a form of modest hyperbole. I think today we would replace the number with 100. It's a specific number but has nothing to do with the actual age of Christ at the time and more to do with the comparison to thousands of years.

  • @jaciemack Well, I read "not yet" to mean "almost". I guess we can only agree to disagree on that point.

  • @DeistPaladin fair enough :)

  • Christ wasn't born on Dec. 25th. It was a date adopted by the church to appease the pagans who didn't want to give up their winter sostice feast. but there are a couple clues as to when He was born. 1) shepards were in the fields w/ their sheep. so the weather was warm. also JTB was 6 months older than Christ. Facts show JTB was most likely conceived in June born in March so Christ was likely born in September.

  • I'd just like to point out that that contribution from the League of Reason wasn't very sound. I'm not yet 50 either, I'm 20. So unless the context of that statement suggests that he is actually close to the age of 50, I'd just as soon throw it out. Besides, there's still plenty of other contradictions to work with.

  • You are missing the target. I applaud your efforts to nail down dates, figure out ages, etc. contradict the scriptures. The essence of the scriptures from Genesis to Revelations is about these trivial things. It is about a God that is reconciling his creation back to him....through Jesus.

We can accept the offer or not.

As for your time line efforts....1 Corinthians 1:18

Even if it is myth (which it is not) it is still the way to live and follow.

  • continuing, he was persecuted and, dont quote me on this, but, ultimately murdered for his blasphemy against the egyptian gods. not to mention, aten was the "sun disk" in egyptian mythology, he was already a god of their culture. also, akhenaten was not amenhotep III, it was the IV.

also, consider this, the bible makes mention of the pharaohs shisaq and and necho II and a few others by name, why then, is the most central pharoah of the old testamant not mentioned?

    conclusion: BULLSHIT!!

  • larsinger, i have read isaiah 19

19:4 And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts.

19:19 In that day shall there be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the LORD.

i can see your reasoning with this lars, as akhenaten was a pioneer of monotheism with his god Aten, but, the egyptian culture made him suffer for this

  • Another thing you might want to challenge Christians with is the resurrection accounts:

According to Matthew 28, there were 2 women who discovered the empty tomb.

Mark 16 says there were 3. Luke 24 says there were at least 5 and John 20 says that MM was alone.

Also, Matthew says that the tomb was closed, there was an earthquake and an angel came down and rolled away the stone.

Mark, Luke and John say that the tomb was already opened. They didn't say anything about an earthquake.

  • @saucersauce Matthew was the only Gospel to mention zombies. I gotta get my guns(I need some first) ready now. Crap.

  • Thank you for exposing just a handful of biblical inconsistencies. That is what happens when you read the WHOLE Bible as opposed to cherry picking. You miss the glaring problems that only becomes evident if you read the entire book.

  • They have dug up and studied the living quarters of those who built the pyramids. No evidence of Jewish culture, only evidence of egyptians. The Jewish people were never held as slaves in Egypt. That's probably why the bible neglects to actually name the Pharaoh in charge during the Moses story. So, the Seder is just a made up holiday.

Arguing about it is as silly as arguing if the easter bunny is pink or blue. Everyone knows it's rainbow colored.

  • @nadiaTeeze We have some evidence of the Jews being in Egypt and being slaves. But not the type of slaves you are thinking. It wasn't like the slaves of the last five hundred years. It was a bit more lax. There is also geological evidence; see History's The Exodus Decoded. It explains the ten plagues in a scientific way perfectly. You still have to take it with a grain of salt, the host is a Jewish scholar. But the way it is presented gives it credibility.

  • We're discussing the supposed Word of God here.

I'm operating under the assumption that the same God who gave me sense, reason and the capacity to communicate understands how to communicate clearly without me needing to get a doctorate in theology.

If you're going to run to the "you're just not educated enough to understand", I'm going to say your god is a bad communicator.

  • @DeistPaladin Well said!

  • Sonofagun, jewishencyclopediaDcom confirms what you say but they also cite the Synoptic-John reconciliation problem as a reason to doubt that it was universal at that time.

  • So how come the Bible (end of Matthew and Mark) both say the Sabbath was on a Saturday.

  • LOL!!! Remember the Sabbath! It's one of the 10 commandments. Are you trying to call the Passover Seder a sabbath so you can equivocate with the real Sabbath?

  • 1. John 13 is the beginning of the night Jesus was taken. Your reinterpretation here makes it worse for your timeline.

    2. Your attempt to reconcile the discrepancies between gospels introduces discrepancies within the gospels. If you dig yourself in any deeper, you will disturb a Balrog.

  • 1. John 13:1-2 says it was before the Feast of the Passover and they were eating the evening meal. The Feast of the Passover is on the first day of the Passover.

    2. Mark 15:25 says he was crucified at the 3rd hour. Mark 15:33 says the darkness came at the 6th hour. How do you get 15 hours difference from that?

Nisan 15 is 14 days after the new moon. It can only be a Sabbath if the new moon was on a Sabbath. Lunar cycles do not follow a 7 day week. Nisan cannot always be a Sabbath.

  • "There were 2 sabbaths for passover (1st and 7th days)"

If the first day was a Saturday, the 7th day would be a Friday. There cannot be 2 Sabbaths in a 7 day period.

The Bible disagrees with your apologetics and math disagrees with your apologetics. Your apologetics must be wrong.

  • "2) Passover is eaten on a sabbath day, a day he could not have been crucified."

No, it isn't. The months are set by the moon, the Passover is set by the date of the month, and it doesn't track the 7-day week. The Seder is eaten the first day of Passover which begins at sunset following the day of preparation.

  • "3) John 19:14 is mistranslated. "

I checked a dozen translations done over the last 400 years and nobody agrees with your translation.

That is the problem with apologetics. When faced with an obvious contradiction, you do the Mistranslation Polka.

  • @greatgulffixed

"#2. Mark 15:33 says the third hour (9 a.m.) they crucified Him. At the sixth hour (12 noon) there was darkness over the land until the ninth hour (3 p.m.) You got a problem with arithmetic?"

You missed my point. Larsinger58's apologetics claimed it was 9 pm.

  • @greatgulffixed

"You're a prime example of how a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing!"

There's something in your eye. Looks like a beam.

"#1 What gives? There was only a few hours at most between these two events. The priests had lots of time to eat the Passover."

John 19:14 specifies it around noon before the Passover. Luke 22 says Jesus already ate the Passover meal.

  • Great Vid but not really necessary!

The first page of the text book has to be right before one gets to part two! If 2+2=5 the whole book is wrong!

Same with bible. Modern Theory of Evolution proves Adam & Eve don't exist so No Sin, No Fall & No need for God to send a son to redeem mankind.

Unless that first bit is right no need to go any further.

    But loved the vid!

  • 3. Matt 1:20,24 has Joseph taking Mary home. They don't have sex and she gives birth in Bethlehem. No travel to there. Matt 2:19-23 is their return to Israel. They only go to Nazareth because of a dream that contradicted the dream in Mt 2:19-20.

Matt & Luke had no idea about Jesus early life. They skimmed the OT to insert fake prophecies.

"4. MAYBE "immediately" just means "after"?"

Given as much latitude as required for biblical inerrancy, politicians would be absolutely honest.

  • 1. Passover begins on 15 Nisan. Months are determined by the moon. Luke 22 says Jesus had the Passover meal. John 18:28 says the priests had not eaten the Passover.

    2. Mark 15:31 says a darkness came at the 6th hour. How could they tell if it was midnight? When Mark says the 3rd hour, he means the third hour of daylight.

  • Comment removed

  • In Luke 22:7-13, is the preparation for the Passover. Lk 22:14,15 When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. And he said to them, "I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.

Jesus had the Last Supper on Passover.

  • "5. No idea why Jesus is speaking Greek."

The Greek word John puts in Jesus' mouth is a double entendre meaning "again" or "from above". Nicodemus misunderstands and John uses the word throughout. The conversation could not happen in Aramaic.

John moves the crucifixion to the day before the Passover when the lambs are killed to go with the bloody Lamb of God theology. The Passover lamb is not a sin offering, so the theology fails.

John is a theological train wreck.

  • "1. Jesus was crucified on Thursday, Nisan 20th."

    Doesn't answer the question.

    "2. Crucified around 3 pm, 9th hour."

Mark 15:25 says the 3rd hour.

"3. They went because of the census first and then stayed there for at least a year."

Matt 2:22-25 speaks as if they went to Nazareth for the first time.

"4. Jesus' ministry was exactly 1290 days."

The sequence of events in Mark tend to have an "immediately" between them. Can't get more than a few months out of that.

  • 1. Was Jesus crucified on the 1st day of Passover (synoptics) or the day before (John)?

    2. Was it in the morning (Mark) or afternoon (John)?

    3. Did Joseph and Mary go to Bethlehem because of the census (Luke) or did they live there (Matt)?

    4. How long was Jesus' ministry - less than a year (Mark) or 2 to 3 years (John)?

    5. Why was Jesus speaking Greek to Nicodemus in John 3?

  • 1. In Genesis chap 2, Yahweh creates plants and animals after creating Adam.

    2. In Genesis chapter 1, Yahweh creates man and woman together on the sixth day.

    What about Qurinius?

  • In your video challenge, I trust you will provide me with any evidence that any of the supposed events actually took place.

    And what about Quirinius?

  • Page 1 of the Bible:

Did Yahweh create man before the plants and animals or after?

Did Yahweh create man and woman at the same time or separately?

  • There is no Luke 1:83. What is an IVIMB?

  • Has anyone read the Apparatus? The part "protê egeneto" is transposed, witnessed only by MSS ℵ* and D05. Furthermore, Luke's birther legend is different from Matthew's on many more accounts. Since they don't match up, how can anyone state that either of them is the correct one, the true account? It's also possible that both are incorrect.

  • With Jn1.15 it's easily overlooked that it's about worthiness (Jn1.27), so the "prôtos" is actually superlative: "before" here means "foremost", being "above" someone else. It's about rank and dignity. It has nothing to do with the adverbial "protê" in Luke 2.2, which is a signifier of time.

  • Again, show me that you have some support in the academic community for your translation of Luke 2:2 and that ALL 21 English translations got it all wrong. Otherwise, I'll ignore your contrary claims as crackpottery along the lines of the Birther movement.

  • Luke says the census was carried out by Herod? Chapter and verse please? And the earlier census was conducted much earlier, as I noted in this video. And truly I have trouble believing that you and you alone have caught what every translator has missed. Can you even show me a professional, peer-reviewed article that supports your position?

  • Again, I'm only hearing this alternate date for Herod's death from you. I have multiple sources on 4 BCE. You'll pardon me if I stay with that until I see credible source material to the contrary?

Wow, JtB had such a successful ministry after only 6 months? A truly overnight smash success! An unlikely fudge factor.

And your translation of Luke 2:2 is not agreed on by ANY English translations of the 21 that I reviewed.

  • And the bible hasn't been revised for political reasons? It wasn't created for political reasons? How many versions are there? How many times has it been coppied from one source to another? How many of the different version match up word for word?

  • Again, I'm going by the historical notes in the NRSV Bible that I have, which seems to have taken great care in its research.

Herod died in 4 BCE. JtB didn't start his ministry until 29 CE. He wasn't arrested until Herod Antipas' brother died, which was in the mid-30s.

I need sources for your dates because I suspect they're pulled out of the air (or someplace else).

  • At pies in the face....no i must admit, but I've heard there is howls of laughter at the doctors office when you step out after your physical. To be fair sometimes there is hours of crying under the desk also.

  • I like the term "temple tantrum".

  • i think your interpretation of "thou art not yet fifty years old" is a bit off. i don't think it'd imply he was near 50 but that 50 was the usual age for people back then to start considering an individual as being an elder. a wise man. the kind of person people listened to for wisdom and guidance due to their (for that time) great age

    just a thought.

  • Think what you like. It says what it says, and Irenaeus himself stated that John was correct, that "from the fortieth and fiftieth year a man begins to decline towards old age, which our Lord possessed while He still fulfilled the office of a Teacher, even as the Gospel and all the elders testify". So I'm not "interpreting". I'm reiterating what the elders of the early Christians still knew for a fact. Jesus was 50, and beyond 50 (according to Irenaeus) he was still on his misson.

  • Yes I had to duct tape my sides together to prevent them splitting with laughter over that one.......me thinks you think a pie in the face is funny as well.

  • An alternate reading of John 8.57 says "not yet 40" instead of "not yet 50". It seems there were some scribes that wanted to change the majority reading, i.e. obscure Jesus' true age at the beginning of his ministry, namely 50. What does it mean? It surely means that the Nativity is false, a foreign body. That's why Mark, the earliest text, doesn't have it. John doesn't have it because his gospel is based on a different tradition. But that tradition e.g. retained Jesus' true age: 50.

  • so this isn't a repost from your old channel, but an actual new vid?

  • Parts 1 and 2 are old videos. This one is new.

  • Wow! Semi-parallel gospel universes!

    What a great TV show!

    Thanks, John...

  • still say Jesus was 30. wend he stard his time. the men jest said this to him as you or i say someing to a nother person. in a figer of space. they were bring smart at Jesus . be cause they knew he was young. and did not like what he was say. wend i was 18 years old the people thought the 4 gospel was not true because they said thing diffence ways. no to people here or see the same way.we tell it the same but diffence. he was 30. and before john went to jail.

  • Dude are you a troll or just smoking meth?

  • she has more subscribers than most of her videos have views...

i think she might be retarded.... (and to an extent... i mean that literally)

  • Well i never clicked her channel till you said, now i regret it...but it explains a lot.

  • As far as John the Baptist was put into prison, Christians will simply resort to the double-up apologetic. They'll say that JTB was put into prison, Jesus heard about it, JTB was released from prison and was not yet imprisoned AGAIN when Jesus arrived in Galilee.

Nonsensical, I know, but I've seen this double-up apologetic a LOT. I've heard two sermons on the mount. Two healing the blinds. Two robes on Jesus. Hilarious stuff.

  • ive always 'trusted' johns gospel because its obviously gnostic, and the other gospels seem to have been written well after the fact - the way they fudge things up historically (much the same as its obvious daniel was written well after the jews were in babylon because of the horrendous mistakes). during a religious studies class the lecturer said johns cult was a shroom cult, but im not sure about it. it does appear that johns and the others were two different 'christianities' combined later.

  • The Jesus timeline is like a timeline in a video by the Angry Video Game Nerd.

  • You mean the Zelda timeline

  • Yeah, I was pretty much thinking of the Zelda timeline, although AVGN also did a video like that for Rambo.

  • haha - the AVGN's fame is travelling far and wide :)

  • The Zelda timeline is one of the best analogs there is for scriptural inerrancy, as fans of the series will often employ the same absurdist tactics to avoid the what is plainly obvious, which is that no coherent timeline exists.

Go to Gametrailers and watch THEIR Zelda timeline video. It's hilarious to watch them bastardize the games just to force them into a cohesive narrative. Exactly what Biblical inerrantists do.

  • well the story of virgin marry arose 100 years after jesus' death....

Nothing in Christianity makes sense, nothing ever has to right?

  • watch the video again, think it over. cognitive dissonance should kick in pretty soon

  • Don't hole your breath for that reconciliation of Jesus' timeline. They are still trying to work out a common doctrine from at least six contradictory theologies in the NT - one each from Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Paul, and the authors of the pseudepigraphal epistles, plus they don't want to leave out the opinions of the early apologists.

After 19 centuries, they have narrowed it down to about 10,000 different theologies.

  • This should be very interesting. Five stars and I look forward to the replies.
