  • How was the airhawk? I've seen them before and need something for my seat, thinking about pulling the trigger to buy one!

  • Gosh, you do have a lot of thing-a-maggies. I hope you dont have any small fires. Really, I do like the setup. Looks like you are ready to roll. You are solo on this trip, right?

  • You can never have too many thing a majigs! :)

Yep, just "one bloke, 2 wheels, and a couple of Cameras." (That's a good slogan eh).

  • Hey BB, I've got some catching up to do. Im all set here, got me some popcorn & a hot cuppa tea :) Going to watch all 5 uploads at once.

BTW, that Airhawk seat thingy looks like a great idea. The SV gives me a seriously numb bum (not that I ride much these days).

  • Man you are a glutton for punishment. :)

The airhawk is a godsend! I doubt I could have done the trip without it.

  • This is my favourite type of video, road trips! :-)

  • Thanks for that.

Sorry for the late reply, I don't know how I missed your comment.

Enjoy the rest of the series.

  • Safe journey BB

  • Thanks RD. ( I'm back now. It was fantastic....vids to follow)

    BB.

  • Very cool BB, nice set up on your rig..I've told cuttlefish this a few times that I love the subtle differences in language "octopus straps" are called bungees in the states...I've seen those air hawks in many a pilot seat but never a motorcycle equivalent...I love learning something new..good luck on your journey,

    Billy

  • Thanks B.

The Airhawk is a life saver (bum saver actually). Funny thing is, I'm a pilot by profession, and I've never seen one used by another pilot.

Yeah, our language differences can be embarrassing too..."fanny" I believe, in the US is your bum. In AUS, it has a ruder meaning. (I'll leave it at that). :)

Since you were one of the guys that gave me the inspiration for this trip, I'll try to do you proud. And I'll look after my nether region. :)

  • Very cool! I still really enjoy your sense of humor. Look forward to the tour! I went from Brisbane to Melbourne once, but that was in a large van and mostly at night and I was sick in the mountains.

In other words, I'm sure you'll have a much better time than I did!

    I love the mix of low-tech and hi-tech. :-)

Heated handgrips? I don't even have those!

FYI, Wednesday in Chicago is supposed to be a high of 15... Fahrenheit. So, enjoy the sun for us poor souls!

  • Thanks LJ.

I'm prepping the bike as I type this....well...before and after I type:)

Heated handgrips are the best thing since...um.....since the best thing that was before them.

15F???? EEK! I'm cold riding at 15C! But then I'm used to 40C.

I get back Saturday, so 1st vid will be up after that.

  • 500 Km doesn't seem that far. Will you be doing it one shot each way? Should be only two tanks.

  • You're right it's not that far. I'll be doing it in one, easy day with lots of stops to photograph and video stuff for you guys. It would normally take about 6 hours, but might take me 7 or 8.

    Yeah 2 tanks sound right.

  • Wow that's certainly a bike stacked full of gadgets. Have a great trip BB, rather you than me. My arse gets numb after 1 hour in the bros' seat.

  • thanks S. Yeah I reckon if you are comfy, then you can concentrate more on the ride AND enjoy it more.

The Airhawk seat is a Godsend!!

  • VERY nice set-up!! Love the USB charger!!

  • Thanks for that. Yeah, it's a VERY useful bit of kit.

  • Uh, now I know why you are 'brotherblonde'.You have blonde hair! DUH!

    Just call me Forrest Ryder.

Looking forward to your trip vlogs. Maybe you could be brotherblondemaa in keeping with the b2w theme.

    Bobs your uncle. :->

  • Yup. that would be the reason.

    "Forrest Ryder" LOL

Billy was a contributor along with Atlasrider for the inspriation behind this trip.

I was going to call it "on2wheels" but that's taken already. B2W works. :)

  • Sounds like fun, BB, and I'll be looking forward to the vlogs. A 500 Km ride is a nice length. Long enough to require some prep and planning (which is way fun), and also long enough to immerse yourself into the sights and sounds of a day in the saddle without winding up all sore and frazzled at the end of it. Hope the weather cooperates! :)

  • Thanks Duffy.

You are 100% correct (as always). When I did the 900Km trip, it was a get-there-and-get-back-in-a-day, sort of ride.

This one will have me stopping to smell the roses. Maybe pick one for Mum in Law!

early forecast is for a chance of showers for the ride up, clear for the return.....we'll see. :)

  • Be safe. Have a great trip and a fun ride!

  • Thanks Jason.

  • Very cool! I hope you have a safe and fun ride up to your in-laws. I'm looking forward to seeing the vids. :^)

    ride safe,

    Rob

  • Thanks for the comment Rob. I'm looking forward to riding and filming the trip.

I hope to make it enjoyable enough to watch without falling asleep at the PC. :)

  • The adventure begins!

  • Indeed it does!

It started in my mind a few weeks ago with the initial planning.

    I can't wait!

  • Yay for the touring ER6F edition! Questions! WHICH heated grips are those? No aftermarket windscreen? My

stock screen was killing me at anything over 60mph, the

MRA Touring works great up to around 75! Still not great but a major improvement! Good luck on your trip, looking forward to the vids! dB

  • Thanks.

It seems ok for me at 100 to 110 KPH (60 to 65). The wind hits me in the chest. My head is in the streamlined flow. If I crouch down a couple of inches, my head is in the turbulent air & it's uncomfortable.

I'm 6'. How tall are you?

  • I'm 5'11" BB, turbulent head with stock, better with MRA Touring. It's under $100, look it up if you got $100 to spare ;)

  • what the? 5:42 testing your airhawk?

I think not more like giving your bike a hard humping, are you feeling randy?

You gave it a real punishing, that looked like it would hurt the crown jewels.

  • OOPS!!!!

That clip was supposed to be in my "Other" videos that I make for private viewing at home. LOL.

I don't know how it made it here. :)

  • sounds like you are getting ready to run away from home

if there is one thing that a man needs is

A THING A MA JIGGY can not get through life with out that very high tech piece of equipment

take ride like they don't see ya

  • If I had as many kids and pets as BB, I'd think about running away too! LOL!! Looks like the start of a great series :)

  • Yep, I wouldn't blame you if you did! :)

Thanks 808, I hope you enjoy it.

  • Only a very strange person (or a blonde) runs away to their In-Laws. :)

That's right haha. It's what makes a man a man!

    Thanks.

  • Dude ur bike is set up so nicely! Very awesome, im sure ur gonna have a completely great ride!

Lol, u testing out the seat a priceless lol.

  • Thanks for that 8.

Oh yeah, gotta make sure it will last the distance. :)

  • Oooo looks like a fun trip!! I look forward to watching your progress =)

  • Yeah it should be a good one.

    Thanks.

  • Sounds like it's going to be a nice trip! The one thing you didn't mention and that you need not forget because of it's importance to a good journey is the KEY to the bike. You wont' be going very far without that! ;)

  • KEY??

I'm going "green".. I'm pushing the bike and making engine noises with my mouth. :)

  • really looking forward to the videos form this trip bb :)

    great introduction video 5*

the jumping up and down on the seat made me lol :D

  • Thanks mate.

    Me too. :)
