Great sound but then it is a Collings. I have a D2AV Varnish and must agree with the last post. Play it hard and its a real cannon. Much louder than than my Martin HD28.
I got a Collings D2HG, traded in a Santa Cruz. I toured the Collings factory and that sold me. Nice guitar! JUmp on that thing hard with a heavy pick and show the people what it will do!
The sound you are hearing is NOTHING compared to what that guitar will do! A Varnish/ Ady top Collings dred will Make banjos shrivle!
I just picked up a Collings OM-1H. You aren't kidding about Collings guitars being loud and tonally rich. It took nearly a year for the order to come in but it was worth it. The thing is easily 2-2 1/2 times as loud as my Ovation and sounds about 5x better. It reminds me of sitting down at a nice grand piano and playing a really fat chord.
BTW I assume the 'A' in D1AV is for Adirondack wood but what does the V stand for?
The label inside reads "D1AV VARN SB". The "V" is for the vintage (wide) neck option. "VARN" indicates the varnish finish. "SB" for "sunburst" or 'shaded top' as some people call it.
Thanks, I was mis-informed. Mine is a straight up D1 and it honks..........and it's pretty new on top of that, only opened up for a few months. You can hear it cut through on some of the videos I have posted......especially the ones in Canton.
Nice playing, wonderful guitar. Thanks for sharing this lovely tune.
