Yesterday LCPG-187 took a fall. I was trying to navigate through my little studio which now houses over 500 pedals and all of the peripherals that come with them. I bumped a gizmo called the Mic Thing which is basically a portable isolation device for microphones: over it went and collected the Corsa which was on a stand. Nothing broken but there's now a very nasty gash on the bottom shoulder of the neck around the 1st - 2nd frets. The gods would have reeled at my cursing. :(
These things sound really great. And of course your playing's wonderful.
I've got a request. If you get to demo the sansamp oxford pedal when it comes out, I'd love to hear how it takes to this guitar. I've got a very woody, airy (similar tone-wise to these Corsa fadeds) Tokai LS150, and I'm thinking of going with the Oxford for that Peter Green Black Magic Woman blues tone. Would be great to hear it with a similar sounding LP.
For the price and money put into that thing, I have to say it sounds great. And awesome playing.
You clearly feel comfortable with it. Would you feel comfortable with a $3K real one? sure .. but you probably saved like $2K which can be put towards other shit. Good job I like it.
Thanks for the compliments on the playing - very flattering! I've plenty of 'real' ones before. (What do you mean by that, anyway? Correct me if I'm wrong, but a Les Paul Faded is a Standard except for the gobs of lacquer. Which is probably why the Fadeds sound better - they can breathe!) Anyway, back to my point: I've owned plenty of 'real' ones and this beats them all by a mile. Crazy, eh? Thanks for watching. :)
my bad.. I thought this was a "replica gibson"... nevermind I'll re-read this all later I just got home from work I'm completly drained..I'm just confusing myself hah.
Hey, that's cool. Relax. We all need to! :) Seriously though, if you can snaffle one of these, do it. Gibson got pegged by the tree police late last year. I have it on VERY good authority that axes of this quality will become scarce quite soon. You have yourself a great new year. I wish you all the best. :) BK.
I'm sorry, but that's what you call uninformed tone; it's so fuzzy you could be using any guitar and it still would mask the sound of the guitar. Please be open to this feedback - go back to Peter Green's recordings - less (overdrive) is more. Even "The Supernatural" had upper harmonics coming out.
It's not uninformed at all. No need to be sorry. I bought the guitar because I liked the look of it and the sounds that Larry was pulling in his own video - not because I wanted to sound like Peter Green. In fact, it is only today that I've started to educate myself on all things Mr Green. I try to sound like me, not someone else. That's the tone that I pulled, not someone else's. This is a video about my playing and my new guitar, not someone else's. Get over yourself.
@BillCBurgess I see what your sayingabout the tone in this clip compared to Peter Green's tone but remember that Gary Moore played with a very similiar tone as this one very effectively using Peter Green's original guitar as well. I liked Green's tone it was immediately identifiable for him but I also love Gary Moore's tone out of the same guitar and there is nothing wrong with burgerman's tone it is a very warm overdrive not harsh at all.
Some of the Fadeds were chambered, yes. More about that on Larry's site. PG's? I've no idea. In fact, I knew next to nothing about Peter Green until I stumbled upon these guitars. I'm learning fast though..
I think there's one thin coat of varnish on these axes. That's probably why they sound so good - they can breathe a little.
They thin it out somewhat, almost a mid scoop. It's quite distinctive and doesn't always work well with Les Pauls. That's the beauty of these LCPG's - the combination of the Faded, the Manalishi's and Larry's mojo. It all comes together nicely.
man great playing!! i love your tone!!! you said the backin track is just off a guitar cd. . . so is the guitar all improv? or jusy jammin out some licks?
Yeah, I just ran the track and played whatever came into my head, keeping in mind that I had to show off the guitar - not me! Heheh. Thanks for watching!
Hey Ste, happy new year, man! You like that guitar, eh? Yeah, I love it too. It's really fantastic. Have a great holiday and a prosperous new year, sir!
FABULOUS TONE Brett! I'm a great fan of Peter Green, his amazing tone & guitar playing and this guitar got me drooling...! What have you used as an OD in this video man?
Anyway, wishing you the very best of Christmas holiday season with your family and a great 2010! All the best man!
Just an update ...

Very nice sounding guitar. It really sings. Where do you get the blues backing tracks?

Isn't a Les Paul faded a chambered one ?
Was the PG's LP also a chambred one ?
However you have a fucking nice sound but what about the varnish of a LGPG's Les Paul ?

what do out of phase pickups do to the sound?

@Burgerman666 thanks for the explanation!
if you have a les paul with out of phase pickups and normal ones, I'd love to hear a comparison.
