When I Chop samples, chopped parts need some fade to prevent unexpected noise after the chop. How do you chop so clean ?

I am a beginner to Logic Pro I am very interested in this software because I see that it is powerful and ver user friendly.But the problem I am having is chopping up my samples.I just finished watching your video which was helpful.I want everybody to know that the US preset setting does allow you to use forward slash to chop samples.My problem now is I can drag the music into my logic pro but I can't hear it at all.I have never been able to hear nothing that I drag into logic.PLEASE HELP!

@mindstormsabrewin you have to change the command keys in logic. i.e map out which key you want for which function. i had this same problem. i can't remember how i did this but it wasn't hard. it's on the logic help i think. if not, search it on youtub because there are definitely videos on this.

@bolts512 When you click to open the EXS24, click on Multiple Output. Inside of the sample editor click on the routing tab(you have to scroll to the right to find it). Instead of main choose 3/4 for the sample you want to seperate. When you go to the mixer tab click the plus button on the exs24 sample instrument. POW!! You n business my man..

that sounds to me, that you didn't select the MBox as the audio and midi device! check the utilities / setup menu and check if the MBox is even selected as primary sound device on ya OSX...

Am using cubase so I just presume but maybe it works.

Is it possible to make beats in Logic Pro 9 and use to MBox 2 to have the output sounds come through external monitors? If not what can I do? I have both ProTools and Logic and want to hear my logic tracks through my studio monitors, not just through headphones plugged in to the laptop.

@grimeybeats1 Yeah, thats basically my setup. If it doesn't automatically do it upon Logic startup, just go to preferences, and then audio within Logic. You will be able to select your monitoring source.

Awesome tutorial, but I have a little question (I converted from FL Studio to Logic so gimme a break!)... What key on the keyboard did you press to select the various sections of the vocal samples you sliced? It would make gluing much simpler (And I think Logic should also have a shortcut for gluing so you don't have to go... Pick the tool... Select the tracks... Then glue) Thanks JB

PLEASE NOTE: If you are running Logic Studio Pro 9, this is not a default key command. To modify the key command follow these steps:

1. Go to PREFERENCES > KEY COMMANDS.

2. Type split in the search area.

3. Select Split Regions/Events by playhead position.

4. Select Learn by Key Label.

5. Hit the / key.

6. De-select Learn by key label and close the key command menu.

After these simple steps, you should be good to start chopping!

Click EXS24>EDIT>Sample start and End. Then just scroll or enter the time you want, its in like 1000ths of a second so keep that in mind.
