AMAZING COVER! I'm a John Fru fan, so I know I'm biased, but you have to know that all the songs John performed this night weren't the best performances. He was drunk as a skunk like the rest of the crowd and this wasn't a planned show or anything. Most of the songs he played weren't recorded on album yet and the covers he did he obviously didn't "tour practice" for them if you know what i mean... Anyways this was a GREAT cover and truly unique touch to the original! Gracias Johnny...

He covering Joy Division is a bit like Radiohead covering Portishead just with greater amounts of energy. It is like the two greatest artistic acts by anything EVER coming together. There you can see, oh, john frusciante had his incredible knowledge about music from somewhere and got than further in that... when you think new dawn fades is a sad and beautiful energy at the same time... than check out Untitled 12 by this man and you see what even exaggerates that aspect to the fullest degree

I'm a big JF fan. He's one of the best 'feel' guitarists in the world. But to be fair, this is pretty naff. To play what should be 3 guitar parts at once, live on an acoustic and sing is just too tall an order.

I'm also a big Joy Division fan and believe me, they were (musically)abysmal playing live most of the time. JD's & JF's live NDF are probably on a par.

But JD's studio recorded 'NDF' is a masterclass in how to express mood through music. No cover version yet has even come close.

Yeah, I'm listening to it now. I was in a band in Manchester in 1983-85 and we did covers of New Dawn Fades, Shadowplay and Transmission. To be honest though I didn't think anyone outside of UK had even heared about JD. I was shocked when I looked on YouTube to see all kinds of famous musicians doing New Dawn Fades and Shadowplay. Good 2 C JD getting the recognition they deserve.
