  • dude u r my friggen hero for makin this video thank u so so so so s so so so much i have that same guiatr and i also have a line six and never could quite get pinch harmonics so thank u

  • at thumbnail your guitar looks like banjo lol

  • faggot

  • People, if you want a guitar to play PH`s don`t rely on a single coil guitar, i have a Fender ripoff, and squealies are difficult as all hell, get a LTD Viper-50 or something, beginner guitar at affordable price and super easy squealies..

  • *in the background*

"FOR FUCKS SAKE WILL U KNOCK THAT ANNOYING SQUEL OFF THE CAT IS LIKE OMGWTFBBQ"

  • I have that guitar. Ephiphone Zakk Wylde Bulls Eye Les Paul Custom. Absolutly rips

  • 1. THANK YOU!!!! 2. that is a fucking awesome guitar!!!

  • Haha.. loled at "more better" xD

  • @KOOGARR95 true. you'll also need decent pick ups and enough treble + gain (this made it work for me)

  • @KOOGARR95 yeah

  • show off!!!

  • is it works on the lower strings on a single coil pickups? I find it too hard... any tips?

  • @rOuGuErAvEn47 they do work on single coils, but it is reallyyyy hard to get decent sounding ones simply cuz single coils aren't really ment for playing hard rock ;)

  • @Randysaxeman tell that to Ritchie Blackmore

  • you play more better than me :D

  • 0:47

  • Back of the thumb or back of the palm of the hand....... and.....ZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz.

  • Content is good but shitty quality!

  • clean your room hahah

  • Pinch away- cool chops- ROCK ON

  • got it on my 3rd attempt

  • Tried it. Still can't do it.

  • Hi there, are you using any distortion pedals? And are they all set to max? If not, then what amp are you using? Thanks.

  • @JohnPain123

nope no pedals, just straight line 6 spider III amp on the crazy train setting.

  • @Randysaxeman what are those settings?

  • I want a sw les paul :[

  • i used to have that zakk wydle sig guitar :S i havnt had them low end pinches like that since :S

  • thumbs up for the "you hold your pick a special way", i like that way of describing it, you're keepin it real with laymen's terms! Good video and awesome guitar!

  • thumbs up for the "more better" thing xD

  • Have you got any tips for pinching on the lower strings? I can get them on the higher strings and higher up the fret board, just can't seem to get the 3rd fret one on the low E

  • @getlostupig

the technique is pretty much the same. maybe it takes a little more vibrato to make it sound nice. Think as if you are exaggerating the vibrato and that will be the kind of bending you need to make it sound nice.

  • @getlostupig u gotta like pick in towards the guiatar man it takes aloooot of practice but go down and tilt toward the body of the guitar and pick pretty hard hope i helped im in the process myself :)

  • Nice lesson man. May seem like an obvious question but can this be done using a thinner pick? I play a lot of rhythm, and prefer a thinner pick. A mate of mine reckons i need to be using a thicker plec to get this technique sorted. At the moment i use a .78mm pick....should i be using a thicker guage? any advice appreciated

  • @borntohula

it doesn't really matter what size pick you use. Hell you can do pinches without one if you have the technique down. What is making the harmonic is your thumb grazing the string not your pick.

  • @Randysaxeman

thanks man, ill keep on trying

  • Do u have any tips for me, cause I can't seem to Pinch the Lower Strings, like at all

  • so I posted this same question on a different PH video but a lot of times I never get a response so I'll try here as well. Do the pinch harmonics move when you push a different fret on the same string? (changing the length of the vibration). For Example, if I am on the 5th String 5th Fret I have a PH right in front of one of my pickups. Would I have to move my picking hand if I tried a different fret? I've experimented a lot but it's still hard to tell.

  • @ChromeFang

well your picking hand doesn't have to change. Changing where you pick relative to the humbuckers will change the pitch of the squeal. You sorta have to find that "sweet spot" somewhere in between the humbuckers that give you that pitch you want. So to answer the question, yes and no. Change the picking hand postion as you move higher or lower on the frets might change the pitch a little bit but isn't necessary. You can keep picking the same place on different frets and strings.

  • @Randysaxeman thanks a lot that helps!

  • @ChromeFang Strings have what are known as node points and if you go up and down the string while fretting a note and initiating the pinch harmonic, the pitch will change slightly. It's basically up to you and your guitar where the node points are going to be because it depends on what kind of strings you have on the guitar and the configuration of your pickups/etc. But if you're using a guitar that has two humbucking pickups installed, you should try using the bridge pickup for best results.

  • Dude i wanted to ask you what amp settings i should have so i can get those harmonics out?

  • how come i only get pinch harmonics sometimes? its so annoying when i dont get em

  • @FreshPrince388 they're extremely difficult, just be patient.

  • Randy are you using boss distortions?? if no pls tell me

  • @milkmextian nah brah, its straight amp! i dont like using pedals with solid state amps. They thin out the little tone they have!

  • holy shit not bad, i thought u had to hold the pick normally and rotate ur whole hand as needed to make contact

  • @Rockstar1376

you can do that as well i dont think its "wrong" if you feel comfortable just sorta curling your wrist do angle the pick i guess it is ok! haha

  • Nice axe

  • this helped i love you <3

  • good vid! i fucking got em now, they sound sick

  • i fucking can't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • is that a gibson or an epiphone

  • is that a gibson or a epiphone

  • What kind of amp do you use because I can't find one that has that shit liek gain and mid.

  • Some other tips i would like to give out to young guitar players on pinch harmonics is having certain pickups like EMGs Seymour Duncan Or Dimarzio really help deliver a good pinch harmonic. also a line 6 or a krank amp is also helpful. so basicly the 2 things you need to have for pinch harmonics are.

  • dude, i turn up the gain, (like u said) and the harmonics come out worse. do u have any other settings i could use, i know how to do them, but they come out sounding realy bad.

  • @josemontes1982

try putting your middle at 4, treble 8, bass at 7and your gain at like 7

  • thanks

  • lol i hate you for having that Zakk Wylde Epiphone, i have a sticker behind my B.C. Rich Warlock remembering me every day that ill get your guitar one day xD.. also btw i have it now xD

  • omg lol 4th video to see if its would be better, and then it happenned i was scareaming in joy! xD

  • lolz i dont get how to do that it doesnt work^^

  • you have to put the gain on your amp try getting a high out put hum bucker and a high gain amp or distortion but the most important is just hold your pick by curling up your index finger and holding it with the thumb on top then just pick the note at the same time as you scrape your the side of your thumb accros the string than with your other hand fret a note and vibrato it or kind of rock your finger back and fourth a little

  • MASTODON SHIRT! FTW! XDDD

  • Thats mo'betta LOL keep rockin!!!

  • EPIC 0:12 to 0:14 lol

  • At least you didn't say 'betterer' - then I'd have to issue a Fatwa, lol.

  • Hey man thanks.

  • can you do a pinch harmonic without a pick? cos i dont use one haha

  • yes you can but if you're wanting to do pinch harmonics, then you're probably playing an electric. use a pick, and do it. not using a pick doesn't make you cool or anything.

  • CRACK THE SKYE!!!! Nice shirt dude, awesome guitar playing and thanks for the help!

  • nice vid man, ive been trying to learn how to do those, your vid helped, there just not as clear as yours. i'm a big zakk wylde fan, nice guitar.

  • man, the only problem with this video is you make pinch harmonics look to easy! haha

  • dude easyiest way to learn in my opinion is to learn cemetary gates by pantera just that heavy lick after the clean part

  • @sykes13ify trust me, they are easy.

  • do you have to have somekind of bazzar effects to get it to sound that clear??

  • @guitarpick4135

lol no not really, just my amp on crazy train preset.

  • do you have a line 6 with crazy train preset? just askin cause i have a line 6 with that

  • yup crazy train preset lol

  • How to you hold your pick to do pinch harmonics with out losing the ability to palm mute

  • nice amp dude!!

  • great video ive been trying to find out how to do them

but mine arent loud any idears why cheres

  • hey saul its trey. your gay and all but this video was cool.

  • haha wow man '' Hey your gay and all...but this was cool'' thats kinda a dick thing to say eh?

  • turning the middle down was the best advice any pinch harmonics teachers have ever given me.

    Now i pwn xD

  • i can do them on the high e, b, g, but i can only get them sometimes on low E and A string

  • im the exact oppistie

  • Well, I was going to be skeptical whether or not to trust this video, but the fact that you like mastodon seals the deal, not to mention I have that shirt.

  • HEKA AWSUM! i thot id never get it. i can do it. yayayayayayay! this is pretty ez

  • Ur pinches sound fuckin awesome

  • BY THE LOOKS OF THAT ZW..ur rich im guessing?

  • could be an epiphone.. but still, may be rich ;)

  • its an epiphone or whatever cause doesnt the ZW one have a black bottom part? (where the strings end) and his is gold.. epiphones are gold... anyway i dont like the guitar lmao im a Schecter fan xP (c-1 ATX)

  • MASTODON <3

  • wow this helped so much after i watched this video i could do it in 30 minutes thanks so much

  • can you do pinch harmonics on an acoustic?

  • mmhmm

  • yes u can. i read it on a website, wich i dont remember wat its called, but yes its possible

  • youve got a great sound from that axe. What distortion effect are you using?

  • dude, u cant play rock without a pick...

  • hah yeah you can. i do. and clearly he does.

  • i dont play with a pick so is there a video on how to do it without a pick im so FUCKIN frustrated:(

  • you cant without a pick

  • yeah you can, its really hard though

  • I've done it. Billy Sheehan does it ALL the time.

  • i figured it out. you do the same exact thing

  • do u play rock fingerpicking? learn how to use the pick, it's easier too

  • was that random jamming or was that a song you played for a while? cuz it was bad ass :D

  • i heard that you need to ahave it on a certain pick up, does it matter which one?

  • i dont think so but its always better to have better pickups

  • you can get em on both pickups

its easier to get em on the bridge pickup though

  • i learnt it 3 week ago and now im the M.A.S.T.E.R :D

  • Wow, great video dude!

15mins of practise and i can do it!

  • They're easy to do.

  • i just need to know this for the song Omerta by Lamb of God. my band's playing at a gig this weekend and thats the only thing stopping me from playing it. =(

  • not true, if the string gauge is mega high, then they wont pull off well and the pitch doesnt really translate, your best off finding the right gauge strings for the tunings you use.

  • i use the Zakk Wylde Dunlop strings. theyre friggin boss for pinches.

  • it works alot better with the HUGE strings zakk wylde uses

  • 10 minutes practicing and i finally pull' em off (:

  • Aah i can't do it arrrghhhh

  • Omg great video. took me about only 10 minutes to learn it with this. :) thanks.

  • damn . . . i can do it on every string accept the 5th and first strings

  • if pinching doesnt work for you try just hitting the strings closer to the bridge where the tension is highest to create artificial harmonics. it does the job IMO.

  • Nice pinches!!! I'm planning to make a vid on this too. Maybe...

  • I still cant do it, never will be able to.

  • never say that try touching with your first finger the strings very soft when you get the sound you will bend the string thats a easy way more distortion better will sound

  • dont give up... trust me.. i was going to then i just practiced and practiced. TRY

  • i got em now, when i practice, i can get them almost all the time. but then when i go to sleep and try them again....lol.

  • Some tips, make sure your action isn't too low or buzzing, and it helps to have humbuckers and TONS of distortion when you're beginning.

  • I cant do it to..

But im thinking like "Never give up"

  • are you kiding

    keep driming

  • I agree. my stagg has freaking humbuckers!

  • if i had emg pickups i will make cool pinch harminics but with a behringer guitar v tone ... nooot soo good ... any way keep rocking zakk wylde fun ;)

  • I kinda understand i mean ive had my guitar for what? 2 months [since christmas] and play a few songs but anyways, when ur doing pinches how much of the tip of ur pick should be showing, i never get it right, when i skin it with my thumb it cancles it and makes it dull.

  • Make sure you're on your treble pickup, usually the last one (for hum's), then when you pick, touch the string with the flesh of the side of your thumb touch the string almost instantly, but make sure its over your bottom pickup, but make sure your using your bottom pickup... (or whichever is your treble)

  • can u talk right?

  • look man im perfect at doing pinch harmonics on the g,b and hi e strings. but what im having trouble with is getting pinch harmonics on the d,a, and low e strings. any advise?

  • nice zakk wylde guitar

  • what are you talking about?? the squiles are fine!! nice video bro

  • thats what my girl said the more i wiggle it the better it is

  • nasty...

  • in bed? is that what she meant?

  • are you drop a b c or d or is it a pedal or amp ?

  • if i remember right i think im in E standard. The amp makes it sound chunky ;)

  • i love these. ill ty it after

  • i have no idea lol..i just put all my settings to 10

  • thanks a lot i was wondering how to do that for so long lol

  • thanks it helped alot! awesome guitar i would like to have one someday...

  • i can do pinch harmonics but not as powerful as you can, it seems it's easier to do them when you bend the string

  • this helped me alot i could already do pinch notes but not consistantly and it simply cuz i didnt it the string with my thumb. btw nice guitar

  • i have the same problem, i can do them, but not fluently with the song

  • turn down the middle or turn it up?

  • turn down the middle to about 3 or so

  • oh mkay thnx =]

  • Go clean your room please!

  • gr8 zakk guitar

  • must make more videos !

  • your guitar is so sick.

  • your pinch harmonics sound like the guy from slipknot! really great!

  • This is awesome! So much easier to understand than the guys from Shadows Fall. Check their vid out and compare it to this one. This one owns!

  • MASTODON!!

  • props man. great job

  • omg you have mr pinched harmonic's guitar!

  • what are you running a couple of those were pretty damn close to zakks

  • That Zakk Les Paul is specially designed for squeals. Everyone knows that

  • i should have alot of gain for good loud squeals right?

  • yeah, distortion works best for it, you dont get a good squeals with clean

  • altho you will want to practice clean, like with tapping. Therefore when you add distortion it's gonna be a lot easier and more even.

  • It helps yes.

  • i like super slinky

  • nice zakk wylde guitar, i cant seem to get my harmonics playing as good as u do it. guess i need to practice

  • Is that a mastodon shirt ?! =0 zakk wylde guitar; nice. and you're good :]

  • how much did you pay for that guitar?

  • what strings do you reccomend doing the squeals on? and thanks your video helped me understand it more better ;) lol that was funny how you made the annotation i do that all the time by mistake.

  • 12 gauge slinkys are fun

  • nice harmaonics

  • thanks a bunch helped a lot, and nice guitar.

  • hey sweet i've got that guitar :)

  • hey i got a question will it work for any kind of electric guitar. hit me up on my channel thanks

  • your guitar is,like, guitargasmic. so are your squealies
