  • WOW!!!!

  • I heard this song at the internment of a spry, fun-loving Cajun man Kullen T. this past weekend. I wasn't kin to this fellow, but when this song was played, you'd have never known. Amazing Grace is still Amazing Grace no matter what language you hear it, but it just seemed more bautiful in French....RIP Monsieur Trahan.

  • hermosa <3

American's can be very proud of these Cajuns and appreciate them for their importance and symbolism with a culture unmatched anywhere else in the world. These people, their lives and their history are to precious and important to be forgotten. The more I'm around these Cajuns the more I believe they are the happiest people in the world.

This has got to be the greatest "Amazing Grace" ever, too --- I live in southeast Texas, where we're lucky enough to have a couple of Cajun music programs (if you know where and when to tune your radio), and people always call in and request Les Amies' rendition when they want to memorialize the passing of a loved one :-). Merci beaucoup! --- Steve

  • It's so sad to me that the Cajun culture is eroding just like our coastline. Much of the world is not aware that at one time in Louisiana Cajun children were punished if caught speaking French in school. And now it's being suppressed by sheer apathy. Thankfully, some carry it on in song...let's hope that never changes.

  • I am happy to announce that Caneview Elem. School in New Iberia, Louisiana teaches Cajun French. I think this is a wonderful thing. I always thought alot of this school because of things like this not to mention all the things they do with the children. Like Cajun Day with cajun dancing.

  • You need to come out to Festivals Acadiens et Creoles this weekend and witness for your self that our French Language along with our unique Cajun and Creole Culture is alive and well and far from being apathetic......

  • Wow! This gave me chillbumps and tears. Very beautiful. I remember my great-grandmother (Memere) listening to Cajun music on the radio...it brings back such fond memories. Thanks! :-)

  • When will video be available? Thanks.

  • Musique Acadienne is working on making the video available for sale on a DVD. It will post information when it is available.

  • Just wonderful... the music, the pics... awesome! I want it to be at my funeral! How do we get it???

  • You can order the CD from Musique Acadienne. The video is not yet available. The song La Grace du Ciel is from the Les Amies Louisianaises CD La Musique Unique des Acadiens.

  • Beautiful!!!!

  • Beautiful!! Made me miss my grandparent more, They spoke and loved the Cajun French language..Memories!!

  • Thanks to all for the kind comments. Were very grateful for the way in which this work is being received!! In answer to your question, the words to this and all the songs on Les Amies albums are contained in the CD booklet. If you only want the words, you can email the staff at: Musique Acadienne, which is where the CD may be purchased as well. The URL for Musique Acadienne appears at the end of this video, as posting URLs here in comments is not allowed. Thanks again!!

  • Where can we order CD????

  • This brought tears to my eyes and many memories back of my father who has gone to rest- i grew up with french music and speak very little of the language- my mother loves this as well is there any way you can send me the words to the song in french and is there a cd that can be ordered? Thank you

What a beautiful rendition of "Amazing Grace" in Cajun French! To hear that song, with Native Louisiana in the background makes the whole scene so peaceful and beyond description. This is my favorite hymn and always brings tears to my eyes and with this setting in Louisiana it makes it even more special! Thanks for taking the time to do the filming and put all this together for all to enjoy.

  • I wish to thank you also and cannot put it any better then Itsinger7 just did. [whipping tears away from eyes now].

  • Simply wonderful!!! This will surely make displaced Louisianians homesick. I hope many have the opportubity to view it. I sent it to everyone on my contact list.

    Thanks,

  • Hi stevent222,

Thanks for the kind words about my comment on the song and video above, but we all owe it to the person that put this whole beautiful piece of art and music together! We don't see enough beautiful things like this!

  • Incredible! Thank YOU!!

  • Fantastic!

  • Hello first time I hear a version in French, I'm French & live in suburbs of Paris.

    I really appreciate.

    Many Thanks!!!

  • Voici notre interpretation au Quebec:

    Grâce infinie, j'aime chanter

    Qui un jour m'a sauvé

J'étais perdu, errant dans tous les lieux

    Lorsqu'Il m'a retrouvé....

Mais, étant Acadienne du Canada, je préfère celle de mes soeurs Acadienne, bien sûr! :-)

  • Well same feelings here! My deceived Mom loved and sang this song in church(in English). I'm from Eunice and just recently went back to Cameron with one of my daughters to go fishing and really started missing LA then. I left LA for Texas in 1979 but I sure can't shake the coonass still in me. Thanks so much!!!

  • Growing up 15 miles from Ville Platte. I grew up with the French influence..was a wonderful experience...I left Louisiana 34 years ago and although living and working in Northern Minnesota, near the Canadian border, I still consider Louisiana my home and my heart will always be there...this lovely song made the so homesick and near to tears...look forward now to my next trip HOME...fried catfish, gumbo and hushpuppies are waiting for me...can't wait to see my beautiful Louisiana once again...

  • Ahh the basin. That opening pic that rises from the lillies looks just like th opening to the lil cove we take to go squirrel hunting near eagle point in Lake Faussie Point. And that rock bridge might be the one at Avery Island's Jungle Garden's by the Temple. If not it is just like it. I live 15min away :).

  • Okay, now I'm REALLY homesick! I moved away in 1990, and guess I won't ever make it back to stay. Should have married a coonass girl! ;o)

  • HA! Don't let your wife read that! But, shhh, I'm in the same pirogue (boat).

  • beautiful... so beautiful -in tears-

i've lived in Louisianna for half my life and never thought it to be as beautiful as i do now... funny thing is: i only looked up this song for a french project! =^.^"=

    i love it

  • I think it is beautiful. Gave me goosebumps and reminded me of my mom who is no longer with us.... as this was her favorite song.

  • Hi chelle030362,

It was also my Mom's favorite hymn and she's gone, so I get sad with tears when I hear it, as it reminds me of when we went to church together and when it was sung, we both would reach for each others hand! So, "Amazing Grace" does pull at the heart strings! So, I know exactly how you feel!

    ltsinger7

  • I thought this was beautiful! Thank you for posting. I live in Louisiana and of course I think our state is special - thanks for sharing.

  • Thank you ;~)

  • I live here in La. and it gave me chills to listen and know that I live in this beautiful state.

  • This is the kind of things we should promote to show the world how beautiful the people and Louisiana really is.

  • Douceth: It's "the people" who really make "the place" ...and everywhere Acadians went/landed, the area became beautiful. Yes, I am conceited in who I am. Actually my mom is also Doucet, but you added a "h" at the end to anglicize the name which means "sweet" or "sugar", hence Dulce in Spain. Yes, that's where Acadians originated from before being in Southern France. I do serious geneology and I can send documents if you are interested. Before being in Spain, we came from Jerusalem.

  • Very beautiful. This video made me miss my home state.

  • This is awesome. I know where all the different places are and the music is just beautiful. WOW love my Louisiana

  • The Lord has risen, and has blessed Louisiana with beauty!

  • This video sent chills up my spine, and as a native Louisianan made me homesick. Thanks for sharing.

  • How could anyone listen to this and not know THERE IS A GOD AND HE LOVES US AND SENT HIS SON TO DIE FOR US.?

  • Absolutely Beautiful! The video is awesome too. Thanks for posting.
