  • im balling my eyes out :'(

  • i cried

  • I like the priest in Office Space... What would ya say, you do here? XD

  • it is so tempting to dislike this video

  • i agree with bpldijgetc. Buddy is a real nice person and so outgoing. its so sad how he died. it made my eyes watered up.

  • and... the train stops when it's on top of him!??!?!

  • BUDDY WAS IN LOVE WITH EVA ...lol. the movies good though

  • I'm terrified of train tracks now

  • When I first saw this I thought they wouldn't kill somebody off this early surely??? And then he died I was like WTF NOOOOOO!!! :'( I actually cried

  • And that's a perfect lesson as to why you should stay off the tracks. Especially around switches.

  • could've dodged it....

  • Because of this scene in the movie, it makes me scared to even cross the train tracks, or go anywhere near them...

  • When we were little and watching the scene at the beginning, my sister said, "I just know that's going to happen to me, somebody is going to say to me, 'Stop shrieking! This is your wedding day'!" XD Course that never happened happened; I sometimes wish I had remembered what she said when we were kids on the day of her wedding, that way, when she stepped out in her white wedding dress, I could've shouted, "Stop shrieking! This is your wedding day!" lol

  • buddy.....

  • so sad, get me everytime the music after the train hits makes it even more sad :(

  • at 5:45 imagine the Black ops Spawn Music Playing

  • thumbs up if you love you grandma ! :D

  • Also anyone know where this was filmed?

  • Who puts a rope swing over a rail line when there is a bridge?

  • everytime i see buddy dying,i feel i gonna cry..it's a moving scene.

  • GOOD GOD!..........IS THAT TRAIN OKAY!!???!!!

  • It makes me cry SO much!

  • I knew a guy just like Buddy. He died in a train accident at 19 in 2010.

  • Does anyone know where the waterfall they are walking on is located? It's also in Mermaids

  • @GreekKoukla25 alabama

  • @GreekKoukla25 "My Blue Heaven" (Walter Donaldson/George Whiting) first recorded by Gene Austin in 1927

  • @GreekKoukla25 that waterfall thing, i think they used the one next to julliete, i crossed the bridge just north of it and it looks the same

  • I saw only this guy get killed once as a kid...I mean it kinda traumatized me for a while...so much I still remember this scene even though I didn't know the name of the movie

  • rethinck your laces, (black and red ) ( white) or pull on's ... One min your here- The next....?

  • See buddy really didnt die, the train simply ate him and made him into coal, which in turn, turned buddy into train poop!

  • @southernprideyankee how dare you joke like that! thats not even funny. -.- you obviously dont know how many people died of this cause.... shut up. =_=

  • @xoBumbleBeeBabexo u know what your right. where are my manners?,,,,,,,,,,i certainly hope that train made it through that traumatic event............Train:01 vs Buddie:0

  • One of the best movies of all time! I loved it when it first came out in 1991 and still do. Excellent cast, excellent movie. Oh, in case you haven't tried them, fried green tomatoes are YUMMY, especially with beans & cornbread! :D

  • First movie I liked a billion times better than the book.

  • i cry every single time

  • its fake

  • I like it a lot better how his foot actually gets caught. In the book, apparently he just didn't hear the huge train coming up from behind him.

    ...morbid. I know.

  • @306tragedytown In the book, he didn't know it was coming? ... HOW is that possible?! LOL

  • @Knife138 absolutely no idea

  • a heart can be broken, but it keeps on beating just the same.. <3

  • Even though I know he's gonna get hit, I still yell at the tv telling Buddie to get out of the way. So sad!

  • oh its so sad that buddy died (sniff) (sob)

  • Can anyone tell me what's the song when they're walking on the waterfall?

  • Hmm, this is the kind of scene where I know what's going to happen, but every time I watch it I still hope it won't happen. Like the bit in the Wicker Man where you hope the guy will get saved :(

  • wow its so weird...i remember seeing this scene when i was younger,,i think i might have seen this movie and when i was reading the book idk why but this scene popped into my head but i didnt know it was from the book (somewhat)..but yeah i like the book better cuz he was in love with Eva, not Ruth

  • WHO IS THAT?? Buddy looks and sounds VERY EXTREMELY familiar. I've seen him on television recently, probably without the Mississippi/Louisiana/Georgia drawl, though it's sexy. Any idears?

  • NVM, I figures it out! If you watch NCIS:Los Angeles it's G, just telling you so you don't sound as stupid as me!

  • Chris O´Donnell

  • @AbbyReidMcGee

He plays Robin in the Batman Movie(s)

He plays Dartagnan on Disney's the Three Musketeers

He plays whatshisname in 'Scent of a Woman'

He plays Sydney's deceased fiancee' in Alias

:O That's all I can think of right now, really....

  • Thanks! I only knew about his character in this and the NCIS spinoff, but I knew I had seen him before. Robin, that's what I was thinking!

  • when idgie screams i burst into tears everytime. i love eveyln ahaha

  • This scene was so sad, that I contemplated turning off the film, and not watching the rest of it. It was awful watching him die.

  • I live about 15 minutes from the Whistle Stop Cafe in Macon, Georgia. I usually go have lunch there on Sundays. Love their Fried Green Tomatoes !

  • soooooo sad......

  • I always wished my brothers were like Buddy. I cried so bad when he got run over by the train.

  • lol owned

  • This is not a 'chick flick.' Has universal appeal.

  • i luv the part when they say tht they thought idgie would die rite along w/ em tht makes me cry 4ever

  • I love this movie.

    I watched it today.

  • Steam locomotive was the Atlanta & West Point 4-6-2 #290, owned by the Southeastern Railway Museum at Duluth, GA. In this scene she is sporting a Central of Georgia 5-chime whistle.

  • @southern2716 Do you know where they filmed this scene?? The Track looks out of use, or very lightly used, yet it has welded raIl and you can see telegraph poles in the distance. Obviously not the NS mainline through Juliette. Been trying to figure out where this scene was filmed. Maybe nearby ex CofG lines???

  • E' in assoluto uno dei film più belli e commoventi che siano mai stati fatti.

This is absolutely one of more touching and beautiful film in the story for me

  • god this movie made me cry every 30 min lol..every other scene was either happy for really sad, i love this movie

  • in the book he didnt see it coming a he tipped his hat to ruth

  • how did the train stop right as he hit him but could not stop before? a person can't stop a train and it takes a long time to stop.

  • The train started braking way before it hit him oyu can hear the screeching of the brakes, lol it's only a film but a damn good one.

  • Actually, steam trains could sometimes stop faster than diesels. Basically the engineer would throw the train into reverse, causing the pistons to flood with steam. It would cause the locomotive to push "back" against the train to some degree. It wasn't always safe, but it was an option in an emergency.

  • wow chris o'donnel was young when this movie was made

  • I remember reading this in the book. Oh, God, this is so sad...!

  • Actually if anyone listens to what Ninny says when she first starts telling the story, she says that she was married to Idgie's brother Cleo.

  • how did he get hit by the train?

  • his foot was stuck in track and he couldve easily turned so that he would only loose his foot and ankel..

  • I've seen that movie 10,000 times and I still cried just from watching this one scene.

  • that part was so sad!

  • i love this movie! definitely my fave..

..and one of the best all time movies!!!

  • Oh my gosh i am so in love with this movie, and the i the first time i watched this i was little, and buddy reminds me soo much about my big brother, their both so wonderful and a amazing brother, so i cried a lot when he died, this movie is probably one of the best i ever seen in my hole life.

  • A great movie, a great scene. We do miss Jessica!!

  • I can't help but have my heart race whenever I see this scene. The way the girls were merely laughing when Buddy chased after Ruth's hat...and how they screamed when he was hit by the train...and Idgie's face at Buddy's funeral just makes me want to cry. But the character Big George is one of my favorites, he always put a smile on my face, and he was so loving to Idgie after Buddy's death...

  • hey shut up asswipe.

  • sex, racism, politics all ruin the comments. i swear.

  • @turdcurd agreed

  • @l0ovechild47 agreed

  • Buddy is the perfect guy that doesn't exist -if only he were a real person . . .

  • Oh my gosh, you're so right! Ah, those Southern boys...haha, just kidding...

  • @bpldjgetc I fully agree.

  • The actress that plays young Idgie is incredibly good for someone her age. Of course, now, she's probably in her twenties... I absolutely love this movie.

  • that is so horrible im goin to have nite mares now jk but that is really sad

  • This is one damn good movie, haven't seen it in years now though. I still remember it very well and consider it one of the better US-made drama movies I've seen...

  • this scene always make me cry.....i would die if i lost my brother

  • is idgie the old lady?????

  • Yes. Idgie is buddys little sister (masterson)and Ninny (tandy)are the same person. Ninny lovingly deceives Evelyn until the end of the movie when she shows her the bee honey she put by Ruths grave. Ninny/Idgie finally lets Evelyn learn that she is IS capable of loving herself with all her character defects etc.

  • Actually...it is never determined whether or not Idgie is Ninny.

  • you need to read between the lines. therin lies the answer. hazy is correct. you need to think about the storyline more. try reading the book.

  • i saw this movie when i was about nine and it still freaks me out to watch this scene...

  • I cried for a week after I saw this movie. it is just beautiful in every way.

  • I'm from Germany and I have read the Book in german. But the film is more sad.

Excuse me for my terrible English. -.-''

  • villiii...your english is just fine !

  • your english is great

  • makes me tear up every time!! its unbelievable

  • One of the most emotional segments ever filmed... and done so well! Powerful.

  • i love this movie along with freedom writers

  • The first time I saw this I thought that Buddy lived, because it looks like he make it out just in the nick of time.

  • ... uh, this vid is titled Buddy Dies. How in the world is it ruined by the that comment, when the vid clearly is called Buddy Dies?

  • how could he ruin it if the people have seen the funerAl scene

  • good film one of my fav
