This bus' drivetrain engine sounds just like the 1992's Gillig Phantoms, 30 and 40 ft bus that was used by SMART(Suburban Mobility Authority of Regional Transportation) before they've retired. The 30ft models retired in late 2002, and the 40ft models (including the 35ft models) also retired in 2004.
well only the NYCT's 1993 orion v had 6V92TA engines before,it was repowered to Detroit diesel series 50 EGR and Allison B-400R WTEC with a long time ago so all 1993 orion v use DD50EGR/Allison B-400R WTEC .
the 1990-1991 orion v from LIB has 6V-92TA with HT-747,the 1990 orion v retired already and the 1991 orion v is close to retirement,there 2 untis left. only,they will be retired.
You're such a newbie. That DD50 EGR smokes as bad as an Alco Locomotive in India. Go out to Palisades Mall in Rockland County, you'll see 2004 Gillig Phantoms with the same damn powertrain...and you'll be OMGod-ing in disgust.

late reply,but I know for a fact that the 6V92TA engine sounds horrible and loud and also they pollute as well,the S50/S50EGR may pollute but they still sound better and yes they might be loud but they DO NOT sound horrible.

They use a DDC 6V92TA mated to a HTB748.

Actually, when this bus was delivered new to GO Transit in 1985 (IIRC rightly), it had the 6V-92TA with HT-747.

the DD50/DD50EGR are way better then 6V92TA.
