Love the 8 or so seconds of air drumming at 16-24 seconds... too funny. (I realize this was common for groups to perform to their recorded tracks while 'performing live on stage...' ) Just a funny observation.... Peace.

@consul1957 The neck he put on his orange Les Paul was a 70's custom neck with the volute. The guitar on here is a '54. Ringo has owned this guitar since the '70's apparently.
Between 1971 and 1973 Marc Bolan was the greatest rock star who ever lived. He had it all during that period no-one else is close, not even The Beatles or Elvis. I've been through pretty much all of contemporary music from 1955 to now and that's the conclusion I've come to, but I knew that all along. Some people might think I'm mad for saying that but I really mean it. Long live Marc.
This is NOT "Live on German Top of The Pops show"; it's "Lip-Synched on German Top of The Pops show." Still, any chance to gaze upon the lovely Marc Bolan is fine by me!

I read this book once about music... Yeah it was pretty cool, talking about hendrix, led zepp, t.rex. It was all good. Until it said Madonna was a rock performer. Then I just... Put it down.
i was born in 1986 and i remember as a child my mother used to play this album in the car when i was 4 and a half .every time i hear this song it brings me back to the good times in my life, my parents broke up when i was 7 years old so it brings lots of lovely memories.
@clarkbell Just like DC/Chicago. Art-wise no new voices, seems like, not in any area of "arts." Like Lady Gaga channels Madonna or something. That's the culture there. Boring. Nothing fresh. About every ten years, there's some new so-and-so, exactly like the old so-and-so, but just rehashed. Like fashion, white is the new black, black the new brown, blah blah. Like they exhausted anything they had to say.
why the fuck are we argueing with each other bout british music and american music dudes? cant we all appreciate that we had both of these sets of music. one thing that winds me up more than the modern day shit are people that argue like kids. we have this and that. jeez
Did I already mention that Ian MacDonald is the guy on the sax? This was right after or during his time with King Crimson, then of course later he was in Foreigner on their good albums. He is on the album too according to the credits.
@rocklobsta1415 England invented this kind of music dumbass, their was a small band known as the Beatles heard of them? they influenced loads of bands and they most likley indirectly influenced T-Rex, sorry did i use to big words for you?
@Amonkeysnut So Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Chuck Berry, or any blues artist had no influence in rock whatsoever? Am I reading your comment right?
@camarorider67 i never said that :L i said the beatles started THIS kind of rock, i never said they invented it :) they mearly influenced lots of rock bands :D so no your not reading my comment right :)

I hear what you are all saying, the seventies was a wild time in our lives, but nothing prepared us for the future like the present ,ie now the present does.peace.
thats the reason he smashed his mini into a tree he was always nutted ,should of seen the state of him shortly before he died on his tv show all bloated and sweating ,pupils like foster grants ,could just about talk a proper mess it was only a matter of time like all those before him , joplin, hendrix, morrison, least they,ll never age!
Siouxsie Sioux's a huge Marc Bolan fan. She's cited the album this single's from, "Electric Warrior" ,as her favourite rock album of all time. Not that she's a clone (she's a great singer in her own right), but it's evident his singing style influenced hers. She often likes to do that Bolan-esque quavery vibrato thing often at the end of song lines, just like Marc!
@ShimmyDigg hang in there, there was alot of crap back then too, takes thirty yrs to filter through then you're left with the good sh#t... class of 79ftw
the whole sound...so full....soooo vibey and potent......it hits you in the head and almost knocks you over !.........i never fail to feel more alive ....when i hear this track.......one of Marcs best....bless him.......................
What is often overlooked are the talents of Drummer, Bill Legend and Bass player, Steve Currie, who provided a really solid groove during live performances. Steve Currie often had to shadow Marc Bolan's rambling guitar solos and bring him back to the root of the song while sustaining a steady but imaginative bassline.
First concert I ever saw. 73. Opened up for 3 Dog Night. Half way through their act a 30 or 40 foot stage light fell over. The only thing that saved them was other wires strung over their heads. Otherwise it would have been Bang a Gong.
damn Mace , you hit it right on the nail , i couldnt say it any better , i grew up in the seventies and four fingers were 10 bucks and people didnt carry guns either ,
one highly under rated bass player ,in fact he is brilliant and played a large part in creating the t rex sound.i hope to be playing and loading some trex on my site before long.

Otherwise it would have been Bang a Gong.

one highly under rated bass player ,in fact he is brilliant and played a large part in creating the t rex sound.i hope to be playing and loading some trex on my site before long.
