Bro read more about sufism and tassawuf. A sunni is a person who follows the sunnah. A sufi is just a person who practices tassawuf. And BOTH sunnah & tassawuf (which is infact part of sunnah) is essential upon every Muslim.
So, only through the dhikr of Allah, will our souls be cleansed. This is why you see bro's and sis doing dhikr in congregations, to cleanse their hearts and souls. And there is nothing wrong in that, unless they add something which is forbidden in Islam of course. Remember the ayah that it is only through the rememberence of Allah (dhikr) that hearts will find rest. Also, shia's have nothing to do with this.

IF there are meant to be mentors after The Last Prophet then these are those revered personalities. The sacrifice that Imam Hussain gave over and above any of the later Caliphs testifies to the validity of the claim.

Sufism began with prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in the Arabian Peninsula, he taught his companions each according to their abilities. Some of his companion were ready to learn this science, like Ali, Abu Bakr, Salman may Allah be pleased with them. They then taught it to those who followed them and so on. Ofcource we are not denying that sufism though under different names existed since the first prophet man (Adam) existed on earth, and after him each prophet or messenger taught the science to his followers. That is why you find inner and outer paths in each religion. The most current form of sufism is the Islamic sufism which prophet Muhammad taught and is still practiced until today by his inheritors.

sufism as told by the other brother was not practiced by the prophet nor was this name known to him, original sufism came about as a struggle for ppl attempting to obtain piety in seperating the physical from the spiritual,eg suffering physically while holding their mental position in rememberance etc, it was not practiced by the rasool nor taught by him, he did however constantly remember Allah through prayer, teaching and self remembrance, but not the way the sufis do it today, sorry to offend

In his al-Risala al-safadiyya, Ibn Taymiyya defends the Sufis as those who belong to the path of the Sunna. In his essay entitled al-Sufiyya wa al-fuqara' and published in the eleventh volume (al Tawassuf) of his Majmu`a fatawa IbnTaymiyya al Kubra, he states:The word sufi was not well-known in the first three centuries but its usage became well-known after that. His full name is Hazrat Inayat Khan. He is one of the strongest proponents of Universal Sufism. I highly recommend him. A lot of great sayings and other materials abound regarding him.

Bro read more about sufism and tassawuf. A sunni is a person who follows the sunnah. A sufi is just a person who practices tassawuf. And BOTH sunnah & tassawuf (which is infact part of sunnah) is essential upon every Muslim.

So, only through the dhikr of Allah, will our souls be cleansed. This is why you see bro's and sis doing dhikr in congregations, to cleanse their hearts and souls. And there is nothing wrong in that, unless they add something which is forbidden in Islam of course. Remember the ayah that it is only through the rememberence of Allah (dhikr) that hearts will find rest. Also, shia's have nothing to do with this.
