It is also more efficient, less power consuming and produces less heat due to it's 40nm process.
Also, the HD4770 is capable of being overclocked to ~950MHz, surpassing the 9800GTX+ and coming close to the HD4870.
I doubt you could play Metro 2033 on decent settings at 1080p on either card and achieve reasonable frame rates. I'm sure the HD4770 will be a tad faster though.

The were priced similarly when new and put in the same performance bracket, so I don't see how the GTS450 could have been a "low end card" compared to the HD4770 considering that the GTS450 was also part of the newer generation cards offered by Nvidia last year to compete with ATi's HD57xx series.

@yeerk22 My 4770 beats my friends kid's 9800GT in everything, and when I OC my 4770 by 22% memory and 23% core, it totally smoked the 9800GT. So this video is total and utter BOLLOCKS.
4770 is about the same power as the 9800GTX, but it's smaller, uses A LOT less power, far more quiet and 2 in crossfire gives almost double the performance. I know which one I'd choose!

The Powercolor 4770 has clocks at 750mhz core speed and 800mhz memory, while the 9800gt has default clocks at 600 and memory clock at 900mhz which overall has the 4770 at a higher vantage. the 100mhz from memory doesnt affect performance at all if not by 1%.

Second, you say it blew up? I say BS. The GPU can't explode, I'll tell you why? The core has a thermal diode which shuts down the computer when a certain temperature is met. The only thing which may explode in your computer is the power supply which can wipe out all your component.
@lRevolutionl I replaced it with 4350 coz I decided not to game more but though I played crysis with most of the settings low on my asus eah4350 which only has small heatsink. It got overheated and it's red coloured circuit turned a bit black and was smelling.My pc started behaving erratically(screen distortion) and just after that it crashed. when I tried to boot it again nothing happened.I also tried same after removing video card but still it didn't worked. my hardware was dead.

@lRevolutionl no lol the guy was trying to brag so i gave back same to him and yes i have 4770 it supposed to own mine gts450 since its a low end card for lower res but it doesn't and my 9800gt owns gts 450 by a mile crysis maxed out on 9800gt fps 29fps gts 450 1600x900 27fps maxed out

@CrAzY3AGL3 The GTS450 was put against the HD5770 so no, the HD4770 was not supposed to 'own it'. The were priced similarly when new and put in the same performance bracket, so I don't see how the GTS450 could have been a "low end card" compared to the HD4770 considering that the GTS450 was also part of the newer generation cards offered by Nvidia last year to compete with ATi's HD57xx series.

@lRevolutionl look at the specs of 5750 almost same as GTS 450 i tested them both frame rate doesn't go far GTS 450 gets 4-7 frames more on games but testing it to 5770 cmon it has more power then GTS 450

@stigyo92 Actually if u overclock em both 4770 might smoke the 9800 gt cause of the 40nm architecture which ocs alot higher than the 9800's 55nm. I said might though cause im not sure, it is only in theory.

@yeerk22 My 4770 beats my friends kid's 9800GT in everything, and when I OC my 4770 by 22% memory and 23% core, it totally smoked the 9800GT. So this video is total and utter BOLLOCKS.
4770 is about the same power as the 9800GTX, but it's smaller, uses A LOT less power, far more quiet and 2 in crossfire gives almost double the performance. I know which one I'd choose!

Best Choice HD5750 is the new king of $129 US range. Better than 4850,4770,9800GT,GTS 250/9800GTX+,8800GTX/ULTRA in Performance, idle/load temps and features. Remenber the HD5750.

My Nvidia 9800GT came with 1GB GDDR3 memory and I transfered 1GB more to the video card from my RAM memory and now my 9800GT have 2GB GDDR3 memory which is KICK ASS GRAPHICS CARD I LOVE IT and the best thing that is i bought it very cheap about 100$

If the 4770 is overclocked it can reach to the 4850(which is equal to the GTS250) If you actually swap the GPU's in the both benchs i could actually believe, but not that much, cause the 4770 is nearly 2 times faster then the 9800GT ! Thumbs up ! xD

The Powercolor 4770 has clocks at 750mhz core speed and 800mhz memory, while the 9800gt has default clocks at 600 and memory clock at 900mhz which overall has the 4770 at a higher vantage. the 100mhz from memory doesnt affect performance at all if not by 1%.

I'm not hating on ATi and all but after reviews and intensive research. I just found that the HD4770 not all of a great card. You mention that the HD4770 owns even the 9800gtx. If it did, why the HD4770 only have a short live where the 9800gt and the 9800gtx is still selling. According to Newegg and Tigerdirect, the 9800gt is still selling. In comparison, my XFX9800gt feels bit heavier and more sturdier were the XFX HD4770 feel more like.....Plastic" just Plastic....

Before I got my 3870 replaced with 4350(I decided not to game more) because it started showing graphical anomalies.......But later, 4350 blew up when I was playing crysis and burnt my whole hardware.......From that day I decided that I will never own Ati......9800gt is still performing like a hot knife though after overclocking.......Listen mister, Ati can never be better than Nvidia in terms of my personal experience and most of my friends own nvidia..

@NvidiaPhysx First of all, who replaces a HD3870 with a HD4350. The HD3870 is far more superior.
Second, you say it blew up? I say BS. The GPU can't explode, I'll tell you why? The core has a thermal diode which shuts down the computer when a certain temperature is met. The only thing which may explode in your computer is the power supply which can wipe out all your component.
Third, who the hell plays Crysis on a HD4350.

@lRevolutionl I replaced it with 4350 coz I decided not to game more but though I played crysis with most of the settings low on my asus eah4350 which only has small heatsink. It got overheated and it's red coloured circuit turned a bit black and was smelling.My pc started behaving erratically(screen distortion) and just after that it crashed. when I tried to boot it again nothing happened.I also tried same after removing video card but still it didn't worked. my hardware was dead.
