I thought Brown was considered a strong enviro guv. He got grief from teachers toward the end because of his cuts (caused by prop 13). Popular with college kids. Known for being kind of tightfisted and into "inside baseball" dealmaker politics. You can look up this stuff on any of the old newsmagazine archives.
i love jerry's new commericial with arnold and whitman. "insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Jerry, didnt you already fail as governor? do you think the residents of CA are insane?
@brendandugan he's always in flux, trying out new ideas. His insanity is rarely ever doing the same thing over. He relies on dealmaking instead of long-term alliances. That puts him in a weird situation - politically unreliable, kind of a renegade, but it clearly works for him. I suspect that his word is good - but getting him to commit might be a real pain in the ass or entirely impossible. Unconventional, but also a very professional politician.
Oooh, unfortunate choice of comparisons in terms of what Whitman's campaign will be able to do about it, go for a safer comparison of a tough battle that was won by the underdog, do the American Revolution for crying out loud nobody would smear that in election season.
Title takes this WAY out of context, all brown is saying is that it will be come from behind victory, and he uses the comparison how the soviets beat the Nazis in Stalingrad who were at first winning and had supperior numbers ext.
@siliconsurf unlike that lady who is so in touch with the issues that she didn't even vote for 28 years. She's just a power hungry CEO who thinks of governor as another notch on her bedpost of greed.
@imadizzy1 typical democrat response. whitman will make california more business friendly. so far, i haven't anything from brown on how he's going to create jobs in california. the brown campaign is about smearing and loathing, no substance.
@imadizzy1 the state needs to create more private sector JOBS capiche? That's one major way to balance the state's budget. We're not even talking about ways to pay off the debt either, far from it until the state figures out how to afford to pay all those lazy civil servants like muni drivers.
@siliconsurf Jerry Brown had a record of creating 1.9 million jobs as governor at a budget surplus. You don't have to be a corporate pawn to create jobs, capiche? We are in an economic crisis which finds its roots in corporate corruption, and you think the solution is more corporate power? You have the type of thinking that fucked over this country, Open your eyes and pull your dick out of America's ass.
@displacedcheesehead she really wants to use CA as a means to becoming U.S. President. thanks to the Supreme Court, Whitman can receive as much donations from corporations as she damn pleases.
What's up with non-lawyers getting involved with politics? California is fucked up because of its prison industrial complex. so many people are locked up over weed. it's ridiculous. Our prison system needs to get reformed. Medicare needs to get capped too. there needs to be good law-making by lawyers.
@19cc88 Do you think our forefathers only wanted lawyers to be able to become politicians? Lawyers as politicians is what's dragging this country into the ground. What do lawyers want to do? Make laws. Who do the laws affect? You more than them.
Never mind the rhetoric; she lost!

@siliconsurf I'm neither son. Though I don't think more corporate control over the government is what any state in this nation needs right now.
