  • Is that Osobucco?

  • @NomenLog No, that dish is typically made from a different cut: the shank.

  • Comment removed

  • Sakai's smile always seems so mischievous. His personality is what makes him my favorite.

  • Korn is typical one of the wanna-be black people. There are many such hey-yo-yall Japanese people. They think they look cool.

  • Hehe.... Korn - "I love tongue and tail."

  • dont oxtail take like 7hours to cook?

  • is korn a mexican or southeast Asian of some sort?

  • Let's not forget that for some of us in this country, Oxtail is considered soulfood, so I was impressed that it's liked in other countries.

  • a taster named korn? cool!

  • No way is bobby flay an IRON CHEF compared to the original IRON CHEFS ! IRON CHEF America is a rip-off version of the original !

  • @mysteryman605 Bobby Flay is a big baby and a jerk... ever watch his show Throwdown, or whatever its called? He's just a big ass.

  • 1 tail 100bucks?! over here the tail is quite cheap!

  • "Dooling-Stooling!"

  • they use this ingredient a lot in caribbean dishes

  • Sakai is the best! He's my fave iron Chef cause he always looks so calm and collected....simply the best!!

  • those look like long horse cocks

  • 1 hour isn't long enough for this battle, it needs slow cooking

  • Thats why some of them were already cooked (boiled)

  • @jtothe100

Yeah, we need some bullet-time cooking up in here.

  • that Korn guy tries too hard to be hip.

    ROFL!!

  • yeah they need to put this on dvd

  • Sad cause there's no DVD for this.

  • the best experience while eating the oxtail is when you suck the marrow out of the bone!!

  • I like the marrow spread on toasted baguette,

  • YES YES!!!

  • is there an iron chef soundtrack? lol.. the music is so epic i love it

  • The music is from the motion picture Backdraft actually

  • The music is primarily borrowed from the film Backdraft. Therefore, after some time, some of the episodes are aired without the music from Backdraft to avoid any copyright infringements.

  • i love how sakai smiles at any ingredient he gets - respects food

  • wen he is introducing Korn, i was thinking of the band Korn lol

  • i second that

  • I cant believe Kanoh said that Sakai lacks of originality!! HOW ON EARTH CAN U BE CREATIVE ALL THE TIME WITH THAT MANY CHALLENGERS TARGETTING HIM?? OMG..if Kanoh were one of the iron chefs I bet he wont even win without being original......-___-"""

I agreed with Sakai, all that matters are the food is great and judges liked them!

  • hahaha the commentator says " I Love Tongue and Tail " LOL

  • lol rofl good one

fukin asians, yet i am lol

  • im asian too fucker!!!!aha

  • Oxtail is French? I always thought only us Jamaicans cooked oxtail.

  • Actually, I'm korean, and I eat oxtail in many of our dishes

  • I guess it's just not a north american food item then.

  • i eat it vietnamese style. i tried it the jamaican way too...both is good! =)

  • filipinos too

  • Oxtail is primarily a textural thing. It contains a lot of cartilage and is excellent in stews or used to flavour broth. Same for bone marrow - It's used for flavour and texture in soups and such. Bone marrow is incredibly iron rich and has many health properties.

My mom fed bone marrow soup to my sister when she was pregnant and the baby she had was absolutely perfect in every respect. He was walking at eight months. I'm totally convinced bone marrow does positive things for the fetus.

  • Why would anybody want to eat a cows tail? And let's throw some bone marrow into the mix. This is the grossest challenge I have seen yet. Don't understand......

  • Why not eat the tail when you eat the legs shoulders butt back stomach and innards? plus the tail has a lot of extra beefy flavored meat on it

  • Well, if you've had Caribbean cuisine, we eat it all the time.

I'm Americanized, and it's quite good.

  • For once, Sakai looks excited over the theme ingredient, and challenger worried.

  • Those are Ox Tail ( Cow Tail). 1 of the Main meat they use in French Cuisine.

  • That was horse meat? :-\

  • No, it is the tail of an Oxen (singular ox) are cattle used as dual-purpose animals: for draft and beef.

And a mane is the hair that grows from the top of the neck of a horse, so i guess it's the stripe or fat that's under it.

  • ox tail is the tail of an ox ya doof! or sometimes cow tail. anyway, this is the best show ive ever watched. gotta really admire asian culture. its the simply most respectful, polite, and above all, honorable culture ever to grace the planet!tthis is from a redneck from near atmore alabama.

  • WTF with this horse penis talk, oxtail is from the tail of the cow, so stop talking about horse penis.

  • WTF with this horse penis talk, oxtail is from the tail of the cow, so stop talking about horse penis.

  • i wonder what can you make with horse fat??? i wonder how they actually get that product since horse really is not on a lot of menus worldwide?

  • Believe it or not, the United States produces and exports quite a lot of horsemeat, particularly from Texas.

  • KORN is beefy xD

  • i got 1 quick question wht did they mean by horse's main???i would be shocked if they mean horse penis.....that that is digusting...

  • That's horse's mane, the hair around the heat. I guess it's the strips of fat around the neck.

  • Oops, that's head, not heat.

  • this is a great show thanks to archo89 for uploading!!!

  • Can't everyone just take this for what it is..ie..the greatest show ever..and if you're here watching and commenting, you're probably thinking the same..and if you don't like it, why are you here watching??????

  • What the hell is wrong with you people.

There are other places in the world other than where you live.

In Japan, and indeed in other countries, certain foods are not as common.

    Oxtail isn't common to Japan.

All the jerks on here who insult this show are indeed ignorant.

    - Al!

  • youre right ,french eat snail, italians eat rabbit, australain natives eat kangaroo,so what's wrong with eating ox tail

  • When my boyfriend was serving as a US Marine in Japan they ate cat. And you can rat at gourmet restaurants in China. You can get pretty much any edible animal anywhere if you try hard enough. It's mostly in America that we have taboo-animals that it is frowned upon to eat.

I bet if you were hungry, really and truly hungry, Fido would start looking miiiiighty appetizing. ;)

  • When was your boyfriend in Japan? I doubt very much that they ate cat - it's just not a meat that you get here. Horsemeat and whale, no problems but there has been no culture of eating cats in Japan. I suspect he just might have not understand the translation or someone was playing a joke to see what the foreigner would believe.

Rats on the other hand - some Asian cultures like Thais eat rats but not the rats scavenging around dumpsters. These are larger types bred specifically for meat.

  • I'm thai and i didnt know that we eat rat?!

  • u aint no chef until u know what ur doing if u ever wanted to compete in these kindof show..mad props..to all chefs who'd appear in any iron chef shows...thanks..

  • Raw horse fat? That's gross.

  • korn lol, i wonder what's his story. 'got the life' in japanese

  • I like episodes where the chefs smile when the ingredient is revealed. You can see their crazy ideas in their eyes. I also like episodes where the chefs panic when the ingredient is revealed - if the chef panics, it usually leads to crazy inventions.

  • Mm, horse-meat is pretty good, really. Anyways, Go Sakai-San!

  • I was wondering how they would manage oxtail in an hour. Both stews sound good. I love marrow, but I don't think I could bring myself to eat horsefat.

  • its ox not horse and they could pressure cook it to speed up cooking.

  • haha korn!

  • LOLtar

  • Is it just me or what? When Chairman unveiled the secret ingredient, Sakai smiled. LOL. Go Sakai!

  • He looked really happy about it.

  • Thanks archo89!!

Do you know when this was aired originally?

  • haha

    korn.

  • LOL

  • ha ha
